One time got hit on while I was walking to work downtown in my, what I call, sleeping bag coat. It’s for those blustery cold days where you want a shield of armor against the cold. It was such a great purchase. My hair looked incredible the day I got hollered at, so I’m like fuck. I cannot enjoy anything without it getting disrupted, can I? Thought for sure I would be safe in that coat.

Once upon a time, a young gentleman who worked at the UPS store told me I was one of the most beautiful women he’d ever seen.

I asked how he knew, since I basically looked like the woman pictured. I can’t even recall whether I had showered that day, as ashamed as I am to admit it.

He replied, “Oh, I can always tell a beautiful woman when I see her!”

This was a while back, when peak pandemic loneliness was hitting, and I hadn’t yet found you ladies.

So I broke down and gave the UPS guy who hit on me my number (even though I have a whole career and am creeping closer to 30 than 20) 😩

The worst part?

That man NEVER called me.

Literally put my standards on the floor, and it got me absolutely nowhere.

Always a lesson to be learned though!

I was walking my puppy in my new neighborhood and this guy said my pup was "really pretty" (duh) and I said thanks. Then after pausing he said "almost as pretty as his owner..." I was wearing baggy jeans, a huge coat, a mask, and large sunglasses. I just kept walking.

A few months ago I was out walking when some creepy old man was in the passenger seat of his friends car trying to get my attention. He was relentless, he wouldn’t leave me alone. They kept making u-turns and he would try to talk to me. My friend was on their way to meet me while this was happening so when they finally caught up with me they finally drove off and left me alone. I was literally wearing sweats with a mask on... I gave him the finger, cussed him out and everything. Sick of these disgusting predators.

I bought a coffee and I thanked the cashier and smiled, but I was wearing a mask so it’s not like it matter. as I was waiting for it this rando guy is like “you have a beautiful smile.” I laughed like haha good one you can’t see my face. He laughed lightly and I thought that was gonna be it. Then he connected the dots and he said panicky “no really, I can tell you have a beautiful smile, even with your mask.” And I was like “oh? Haha thanks?”

This is hilarious. I remember when the masks were first a thing, and it confused the men, because it was not a sign of wellness, it was a sign of sickness, which is not sexy, and the catcalling seized. I told a friend and she said “Give it two weeks, they’ll acclimate to it as it because the norm, and find a way to re-insert sex into the equation.”

She was wrong!

I learned early long ago that no outfit will save you from catcalling. I mean I haven't tried a hazmat suit but I'm assuming it makes no difference. There's a delivery man in my city that will zoom by on his scooter and yell BEEYUTIFUL and I'm like what did you really see???

You can just see in their heads them thinking... oh, she doesn't lack self-worth... that didn't go as planned... I guess I'll... leave her alone...

However, I was thrown off by a group of teenage ghetto black girls that one time ,though. They were cat-calling at me telling me like 'look at that PHAT ASS!". I was both flattered and intimidated, all at the same time. <3
