When I was lurking FDS about over a year ago, I already started getting pickier with the men I would match with, so I looked for guys that were good on paper, but it didn't matter. Fake names have been used!

Jake - finishing up his master's program, had gainful employment and it was in his field. He had a healthy set of hobbies and even volunteered with children. He was in good shape, knew how to cook, and was handy - all bare minimum things! We messaged and he was polite, consistent, very thoughtful, and definitely was putting effort into the conversation. He had a super positive attitude and would even send me uplifting quotes when he would message good morning. Jake asked me out and suggested a restaurant. Then he randomly recommended a dish there and had the audacity to tell me that is what I HAD to order because it was healthy so we could stay in shape and ranting about the macros. He got blocked and the date never happened.

Don - college grad, worked in IT, said he had his own place and car. Loved traveling, was a foodie, and shared a lot of my quirks. Seemed charming, sophisticated, and was highly intelligent. Talking to him felt so effortless and enjoyable. Then we did a phone call and it was completely opposite. He ended up telling me he lived in his parents house, they bought him the fancy car and paid for all of his travel, and that his GOAL was to get on welfare and live in a housing project. Also told me he didn't quite finish college and had been putting it off, despite his parents having an entire fund for his school they begged him to use. Also mentioned his parents didn't love each other and went into how they hate anyone that isn't Rich. Had the audacity to say I was "poor" and "uncultured" and "it matters" that's when I hung up.

Tony - caught my eye because he said he moved to my home state from the state I always wanted to live in, had bare minimum of stable job, college degree, his own place etc. We had some common hobbies. He put effort into the convo, but then tripped up and said I was out of his league. He started telling me he moved because his ex was in this state and he was going to be with her, and gave up so much, and then she cheated on him. The biggest red flag was that he asked me out to Dunkin Donuts with the explanation that he was broke and he couldn't afford anything more. He asked me to go during their $2 deal hours and for me to order the $2 drink. He also tried to get my address then by saying he could pick me up.

Lee - military, college grad, handsome, fit, car, and own place. Seemed cultured yet family oriented. He was a foodie too. I loved talking with him but he was moving around for the military then he found a date when he'd be visiting family that lived in my area. He planned a cute date out and then ghosted.

Lucas - met all the bare minimums of the degree, place, car, etc. He was working in politics and had a great position. He was ambitious and very career oriented. Had a seemingly healthy relationship with his dad, outside hobbies, and a circle of friends he did the hobbies with. Then we did the phone call and my gay-dar was screaming at me. He told me he had 4 closets of womens clothes and he dresses up in them all the time to name just one of the things that raised my eyebrows. The kicker was he told me he never dated a woman for more than 3 months and he was 30 years old. Then he went on a tangent on the phone saying the woman he dated the longest had a disability and called her a liar saying she "faked it" and "exaggerated" it for pity and manipulation. Also told me he "needed a woman to bring along" to all his work events because his coworkers are homophobic.

Ben - had a prestigious career with well known tech company. Owned multiple houses, and he was in his 30s. Great conversation and great taste in music. He started looking sketchy when he mentioned he used to have that big beautiful house and it got damaged... so now he moved to a dumpy townhouse in a bad neighborhood. Tried inviting me over last minute to his dumpy place for alcohol and a bonfire. I declined and then he said he "can't take me on a real date" because he is leaving for an international business trip the next morning and gave me his "business number" so I could text him. I blocked him and the business number. Looking back, I have the feeling he was married/divorced with kids and he had a shabby lie for it.

Ryan - told me he worked in the same field I did, and bragged about how successful and smart he was. Started mansplaining my job to me. He got shut down immediately and he was pre FDS so I was letting him know I knew more than him. He got butthurt and tried to ask me personal questions like how much I make and whatnot. Got blocked fast.

Bottom line is men LIE! Looking like they meet the bare minimum on paper doesn't mean anything. These guys seriously lasted 5 days at the most and all their LV ways already came out. If you are vetting someone let that guy talk ... a lot of times they reveal their red flags and true self. It saves you from more wasted time in the long run. You want to vet and block ASAP before you get too attached and blinded by their BS!
