There was a post in a relationship sub about this topic and many people in the comments wrote that they would get emails from tinder but stopped getting matches once they stopped using the app for a few months.

A college acquaintance was dating a man she met online. I saw his profile status as “online,” but it was a year and some change into their relationship. I took a screenshot and sent it to her. She panicked. He said it was “to read their old messages.” Yes. She married him.

A coworker showed up on a dating app, but the man who famous for adoring his wife. I sent screenshots and she said, “He said his friend was pranking him.”

A man I worked with said he was moving in with a friend he has sex with, but she thinks they’re dating. It had been going on for 9 months. He said she’s going to finance him while he finishes college. He showed me how he hides his dating apps by putting them on second and third pages of app folders called things like “Finance” or “Health,” so it wasn’t obvious.

My ex changed his side chicks to his female cousins name in his contacts so I would see the notification and not be alarmed.

Two male coworkers were sharing how they hide nudes and such from other women: a fake calculator app that’s password protected. Both had some random Androids so it wasn’t obvious the calculator apps weren’t official.

It’s been recommended on this sub before to go through your mans phone. Personally, I wouldn’t. I would be furious if he went through mine for no reason.

But if there is a reason, any suspicious activity at all, he should have no problem unlocking his phone and handing it to you. He has nothing to hide right?

If I were in this woman’s position I would have demanded to scour his phone without him in the room. And I would call off the wedding if he showed any hesitation.

This literally just happened to me.

Him and I had the conversation of deleting it, and I said I'll delete mine if you delete yours. He said okay sure let's do it.

Because of other red flags, I recreated my Tinder account to see if he was still on it... Lo and behold, he was. I called him out on it, he said "What? I did delete it. " I said no, you probably uninstalled it but didn't delete it. His response?

"I uninstalled it, I'm not talking to anyone else, you saw that I didn't update anything on it, it's just you. Please just trust me, and assume positive intent. It's really annoying to go back in and reinstall it and log in to delete it."

"I said okay, you do what you think is best. But it would mean a lot to me if you deleted it."

He never did. He ended up being a liar about so many other things. I broke up with him this weekend.

Edit: I wanted to mention that he said it was a red flag for him that I just went and created a new profile to see if he had the account rather than talking to him first about it. Lmao.

Yeah. When I was playing around with Tinder, I got many matches. I was inactive for some time and when I returned to using Tinder, I didn't get that many matches so I guess Tinder hid my profile. For another OLD app (can't remember if it's Bumble or Coffee Meets Bagel), I actually got messages saying my account will not be visible if I remain inactive when I didn't use the app for some time.

This lie makes no sense. Tinder has an incentive not to let inactive accounts get put into the pool: they care about only one thing—match rates. If your account isn't getting matches, their algorithm sorts you to a lower tier, to give you a better chance of matching. Keep the number of one sided swipes down. This is a known fact. There was a whole hoopla about how Tinder algorithm sorts people into attractiveness tiers based on number of swipes and matches people get. You can't get matches if you're not active. So if you're inactive, you fall off of the dating pool.

You can deactivate your profile and it won't show up anymore. I deleted mine back when I didn't need it and all the guys I still talked to told me I disappeared from their matches.
