Some important changes in the prosecution of rape cases made in NSW, Australia yesterday. This makes me feel so hopeful, and proud of the progress being made in Australia. I hope these laws can be an example for law makers around the world and more widely adopted.

Yes. Their laptop should also taken in for evidence.

Porn proclivities should be brought up in courts.

Their previous partners should also be asked to testify about his sexual habits/boundary pushing to establish patterns of behaviour.

The mans entire porn history should be submitted for evidence in court.

Just went over to the subreddit for the country this is happening in (not allowed to link to outside srubreddits sorry) about this topic. It's very clear to me the dudes over there have no idea what consent is to begin with that they're actually arguing that this law is ridiculous. Some are saying they need cameras in their room to prove they're having consensual sex. I mean if you're that worried the person you're having sex with MIGHT say it wasn't consensual...idk maybe it wasn't consensual to begin with 💁 I'm not sure why this is such a hard concept to grasp.

Sweden has had this kind of law since 2018 and conviction rates of rape have gone up by 75 %!

Sad that this is groundbreaking and new, but I’m so happy we’re stepping in the right direction. I hope the US gets something like this soon. It would help so many. Finally. I'm waiting for "guilty until proven otherwise" for cases that are by nature don't occur in the presence of honest witnesses (all sexual assault).

Men will whine about supposedly being "false convicted", but as potential perpetrators, the onus has to be on them to prove it.

Ooh I'm glad for Australia doing this. I think I've read a Scandinavian country (someone commented it's Sweden) does this too even before. When it comes to rape cases, instead of having the woman prove she was raped, they ask the man how they got consent to have sex. I hope more and more countries implement this because the innocent until proven guilty way is not effective with sexual assault.

And let’s say you do consent but he sodomizes you and you revoke consent.
