The goal is to look expensive, and yes, it does keep the broke scrotes away. I've had men comment on my expensive jewelry on dates, and note very carefully what they say about it. If there's any hint of jealousy or scorn, then I next him. I don't date broke men or men with a poverty mentality.

After changing continents I came to this realization that I must set the tone on how to treat me from the start.. otherwise the power will go on their hand( whoever they are), all these prim and proper attire are tried and true format to make people comply, people make 80% decision the moment they saw you not the moment you open your mouth( even in job interviews), there is nothing to get frustrated about it, it’s just how human psychology works, so would you leave with 80% or take chance with 20%?

I like this because back in my PickMe days, I’d try soooo hard to be “low maintenance” in the hopes of getting picked. 🥴😫 And because I thought it was “materialistic” because God forbid a woman want nice things, right? While I’m not exactly where I’d like to be fashion-wise yet, I have realized the importance of accessorizing and making outfits look better! It’s a LOT of work, and planning, and maintenance, but sooo worth it to feel good in the end! No more dimming ourselves for LVM in crusty stained T shirts!

At the same time, if you feel more comfortable without jewellery wearing khaki slacks, go for it. We are diverse women with our own unique personal styles. Boundaries and standards should be enough. A hvm will respect you with or without a rock around your neck.

I'd say I agree but also caution women to be weary of leeches who might view you as a sugar momma. Men are disproportionately gold-diggers and leeches in this day and age. I think pairing expensive taste paired with confidence and a bit of coldness/bitchiness is important. I remember a time being well dressed and looking expensive and beautiful, but I had those "nice girl vibes." Alas, a scrote picked up on my Pickmeisha nice girl vibes and was confident enough to have the audacity to try and wrap his arms around my waist and pull me closer to him. This was after he told me he had a gf. He struck up a conversation with me and I thought I would be safe as he mentioned his gf.

Agree that women are brainwashed to take up as little space/resources as possible and we need to break out of this mentality that everyone we love except ourselves is deserving of nice things.

The BEST self-care/indulgence is building and maintaining good health and financial independence. Please make sure you are putting away as much of your income as you reasonably can into investment and savings accounts, and also investing in your health with good quality nutrition, health care and exercise.

When you are as healthy as you can be, and you are building financial security for yourself (without depending on a man), you will radiate beauty and confidence no matter what you are wearing.

Absolutely. And it doesn't just work around prospective romantic partners. Being dressed well and wearing clothes and jewellery that is high quality and well chosen and maintained (it doesn't have to be flashy! But people notice if your simple jewellery is real or costume or if your simple sweater is polyester or cashmere) gets noticed everywhere. You will be taken more seriously at work, as a customer, even as a patient at the doctor's office. It is important to wear those clothes and items like it is the most natural thing in the world. Never let them know that you put on those special earrings specifically for this date and that they are an heirloom and you could never afford to buy them yourself. No, it is absolutely normal for you to wear jewellery with that price tag every day. Mention hobbies and interests of yours that are considered "upper class" in passing, too, if you enjoy them (don't lie, it will be obvious).

The idea that you are used to diamonds and the opera does discourage men who could only offer you an onion ring and their car's radio.

I not saying this is right. People should be treated equally well no matter how expensive or cheap they are dressed. But it is the reality.

I agree to an extent. If you enjoy it of course- but I would not make it a priority above financial and other investments (education, therapy, physical health etc) which are key to us being independent and be able to choose if and when we want to partner up and with whom. Trying to keep up with the appearances and "buy" other people's respect makes you vulnerable in a pretty wasteful way.

Also from personal experience expensive jewelery, certain type of wardrobe with visible lux brands etc attract a whole other set of gold digging and syrup talking scrotes.

Men are visual creatures. This also tells them what to anticipate.

Friends of mine have said, they've always met men with no makeup, sweatpants, t-shirt, and messy hair but have a harder time meeting men when well-dressed. Sure they did, it was a low to lower middle income area at the time; the men were looking for pickmes, 50/50 women and baby mommas. We didn't have (FDS), and so many women believed the guy saw the "real them" and was attracted to them just as they were. And, that this was TRUE acceptance.

It took me an embarrassingly long time to realize that this is why I was “treated better” by guys than most girls around me. I was lucky to be very well adorned as a child and continue to be as an adult. Everything you wrote has been my experience.

Also, I thought I had this down until I met my friend M. That gal brings new levels to this game. My favourite part is how she’s so against cooking and being domestic that she filled her kitchen drawers with clothes and jewelry instead of any cookware. It’s genius. Guys come over, open a drawer, she preens about being useless, they go out to dinner.

This... made me think. I come from a redneck town of low achievers. I would always get hit on by these bush men who barely finished highschool and seemed unaware of grease removal soap to get the stains from their hands.

But I dressed down. I wore jeans and T-shirts all the time. I had no confidence in myself and no future. I was barely able to afford rent and there were no jobs or options for education.

Now I am married to a man who buys me designer purses a couple times a year, splurges on expensive perfumes if I so much as say I like the smell. I also have gold and diamond jewelry for the first time ever in my life. I lost weight, am working on my education, and I get comments from people in my hometown when I visit about how much I've changed. Those guys don't even speak a word to me anymore.

You also don't have to break the bank if you're on a budget. You can find decent quality fabrics and classic cuts without designer price tags. It's harder to find jewelry that looks like fine jewelry and stands the test of time but is not real - it's often a hit or miss but I've found one brand that I'm happy with. I stay away from CZ/diamond substitutes and stick with just gold pieces (actually vermeil or gold-plated). I get lots of compliments from women and sometimes men on my style, clothes, and jewelry. I can provide my recommendations if anyone's interested.

Does anyone recommend resources to learn how to dress and accessorize? I’m out of my depth. I see so many styles I like but just don’t know where to start. Unfortunately my default is a T shirt and jeans. I am wearing makeup, earrings and necklaces though. AND I wear heels!

When I add the accessories, makeup and heels I feel really good. Even if it is just a pair of jeans.
