Homer Simpson and all of the other bumbling dads aren’t really sold as dreamboats but it still feels like women are brainwashed to accept these guys. “Yeah he’s lazy, mean, and selfish (so relatable!) but it’s ok cuz things work out at the end of the episode” propaganda

Currently watching Grey’s anatomy (been wanting to for years and love the show so far) and I’m still at the very beginning but... the beloved McDreamy is absolute trash. The made-to-be-adorable O’Malley is trash too. The sexy-bad-boy Karev, yep, you guessed it, trash (I’ve heard he has a good character development and a great redemption arc though so curious to see).

On the topic of New Girl, I always disliked Nick. He seemed helpless and ball-less to the point of “I’m just annoyed now, Imma rewind until a Schmidt scene starts, at least he’s nice to look at”

I'm rewatching Buffy the vampire Slayer and Bones. All the guys in Buffy are creeps with an extra dose of freaks. It makes a whole lot of sense that Joss Whedon created the Xander as a character to reflect him, especially since Xander apparently got together with Dawn in the comics. Yeah the same Dawn whose actress wasn't allowed to be alone in a room with Whedon because he's a creep. Don't get me started on the rest of them, with pedophile Angel and rapist bdsm freak Spike, or fragile ego the size of mars Riley.

And also dear god to I hate Agent Booth, wow what an annoying man with a whiny voice. He constantly talks down to people. The rest of them aren't better. I've also noticed how much television, then and now relies on making fun of women and girls.

Ross from Friends. I could write an essay on this but you already know he sucks. I think Joey could count too, even though he had his decent moments in helping Rachel and Phoebe when they were pregnant, he treats all other women like trash.

Barney from How I Met Your Mother. I hated that stupid playbook thing, it was essentially him lying and tricking women into sleeping with him, and of course all the women were super gorgeous but also idiots that couldn't tell he was lying no matter how ridiculous the lie

Will Schuester from Glee. At least some of the stupidity of the other male characters on this show could be explained by them being high school students but this was a grown man singing about sex with his students and playing with Emma's emotions knowing that she was vulnerable and dealing with severe OCD and anxiety

Every sitcom dad. Raymond from Everybody Loves Raymond. Kevin from King of Queens. Peter Griffin from Family Guy (any guy who watches this shows is automatically LV to me idc idc). Just think of any sitcom dad, they all suck. I think modern shows like Bob's Burgers are trying to do better. The only good sitcom dad is Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Christopher from Gilmore Girls. He was such a bum I can't believe they actually got him back together with Lorelei for a minute.

Don Draper from Mad Men. Yes he's sexy, rich, intelligent, but he's also dismissive of his wife, cheated on her multiple times, listened in to her therapy sessions, and couldn't commit to any woman. He's one of those characters that is well written and has a good arc, but shouldn't be idolised even though so many people still do.

An older show, not a current one, but the absolute winner of NVM on Tv ever is Tom Scavo from Desperate Housewives

Honestly, hes so bad, but the reception was that he was SO WONDERFUL, and that in and of itself was worth unpacking.

Would love the girls to do a pod episode on shitty lvm tv characters (ross gellar, ted mosby etc)

I mean, Ted Mosby, Ross Gellar, for sure. A more painful one for me would be some of the guys on LOST. I love that show but the men had their messy messy moments.

Phil Dunphy from Modern Family. Another manchild who is presented as fun-loving and adorable, while Claire is portrayed as uptight and controlling when she's just trying to parent 3 kids and a useless husband. He gaslights her, lies, shirks all responsibility, drools over Gloria and doesn't recognize any of Claires accomplishments. It's always annoyed me that he's such a beloved character.

This is an old one, and I almost entirely forgot the plot and if he redeemed himself at all, but Jordan Catalano from My-So-Called Life...had the brooding, tortured, emotionally unavailable dreamboat down to an art.

The one thing I like about SATC (the show) is that almost none of the guys were presented as HV. The show was way more about the women friendships! Even though Carrie could be kinda LV lol. I really wish she hadn't married Mr. Big in the movies and I choose to pretend that never happened. He was the worst of her many bad boyfriends I think! My fav HV and extremely hot character will always be Smith ❤️

The dudes from its always Sunny in Philadelphia. 🤷‍♀️ although I don't think they are being marketed as the dream guys so far lol. I only recently started watching it.
