This is why I believe we should never judge a man’s value based on Valentine’s Day, especially the first one. Going above and beyond IS the bare minimum on (at least) this one day a year and they know it. Don’t judge a man based on the one day that everyone is watching and waiting for him to do something romantic. Don’t judge a man based on the one day he’ll get CREDIT for doing these things. If he treats you that way all year and the next V-Day, cool. You have a HVM.

The complete lack of thought and lack of give a fuck is disgusting! This isn't a money issue. At all. There really is no excuse. A man who is dirt poor can give his girlfriend or wife a lovely Valentine's Day for next to nothing or without spending a dime. Strapped for cash? Write her a handwritten letter telling her how important she is to you and how much you care for her. Draw her a bath in the evening and toss a towel in the dryer so she has a warm towel after her bath. Put your damn phone away and spend the evening watching a movie together or playing a game just the two of you. Get some candles (there are plenty of places to find very inexpensive tea lights) and put them in around your bedroom and give her a full body massage. Fucking buy McDonald's, bring it home and set up a candle lit dinner using your best dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. and spend the evening deep in conversation without one eye glued to whatever sport is on tv! It's REALLY not hard. There are literally ENDLESS things men can do or come up with to make Valentine's Day special, cute, funny and personal that won't cost much at all that women would appreciate. Men just use the tired old bullshit of "Women are too materialistic!" as a lame ass excuse to be lazy so they don't have to get creative to show they care. It's impossible to fuck up Valentine's Day if you actually want to make her happy.
