Okay so I've seen in the comments of some posts about how a man who is into MBTI is a red flag etc. and truly I can't see why except when that same man tries to justify his behaviour with "Oh, I'm an INTJ so it's natural for me to be a cynical, pessimistic a*hole with a lack of empathy" or "Oh, I'm an ENTP so I'm just naturally flirty with everyone, don't worry it's just being friendly for me. Btw I'm going to make offensive jokes about you and whatever you care about in general, if you're offended, you have no sense of humor" or "Oh, I'm an INTP so I might seem interesting because I have weird hobbies but there's a %80 chance I actually have a catgirl/animegirl fetish and I consume fetish manga, lol. Just some nerdy INTP things".

Other than that, I find MBTI (cognitive functions, not 16personalities) extremely useful to see how someone views themselves and how I view myself. I usually make all my friends/romantic partner potentials take the test and if they're comfortable, I make them take the test while I'm watching. The best results happen when they've never heard of MBTI so they answer the questions not knowing which type has a bad name or what behaviours I won't tolerate.

I also think MBTI can be helpful during your self improvement journey. I test as an INFJ and for so many years I've been the "mother" friend of my friend group, or the free therapist to my emotionally constipated "male friends". What that got me in return was genuine resentment towards these people because I gave, gave, gave and then took nothing/so little. Hanging out in your personality subs can be helpful for this as well. Seeing how people who are similar to you have the common/similar background of parenting, childhood trauma or doubts and feelings can help you validate your own thoughts and feelings. Just be careful not to get too caught up in a circle jerk or unrealistic hopes, or people who say "This certain aspect of an XXXX is too hard to change/improve so guess what, I'm going to accept my toxic habit 🤭😍" or "Oh yes, we're empathatic and helpful so it's likely that we'll be emotionally drained lol. But that's okay, you need to take the risk to be vulnerable. The world needs people like us, even though "the world" will never reciprocate our giving nature. Go continue being a magnet for narcissistic a holes 🎉🎉".
