Same thing happened to me except I sat in jail for 2 years before they dropped the charges when I refused the plea bargain. The DA even tried to use fake evidence to scare me into taking the deal.

When I looked for lawyers to try to sue because the allegation was clearly false and the use of falsified evidence to try to scare me and my witnesses was corrupt, I was told that I had no case and that falsifying evidence is only a crime if it is presented to the court as evidence.

Didn't even have any pieces of my old life left to try to pick up.

It’s upsetting to see ‘Guilty until proven innocent’ view existing in first world countries that doesn’t take into account the loss of salary, attorney fees (to prove oneself right), or even compensation by the plaintiff. Reparations could be a viable solution to that problem. What’s worse is the psychological damage, embarrassment, humiliation, undermining of human life, and mental anguish of the victim that takes ages to subside or gets passed onto the next generation. Many of today’s problems including persistence and creation of gender tensions exist due to this very viewpoint.

Had a friend told he should “just move on” when his vengeful ex tried to accuse him of rape in high school. The school searched both their phones and found texts from her to her friends admitting it was all a fake.

My friend was pulled into the office and given a lecture about how we need to learn how to forgive.

He said he wanted to press charges on her, and was told he would be expelled if he did that.

At the end of the meeting, he was put on probation. I remember I was at a football game with him. The girl, along with her friends, hit him and put gum in his hair. He could not do anything due to his probation and the obvious gender roles that were working against him in that situation.

He had the most lifeless stare that night. The dude looked broken.

Knew a chick in the military who basically didn't want to do her job. She failed the qualifications test for her specific job and was supposed to be discharged because of it. She never made it out of training to active duty.

Well, she figured out a cheat code. Apparently, accusing someone of sexual assault would start legal proceedings, and she was unable to be discharged during that time frame until the court case was done. Mind you, the military has to continue paying her every 2 weeks a guaranteed paycheck. So, she kept accusing people of sexual assault left and right. It got so bad that they shipped her to another base where she proceeded to do the same thing there. Over the course of 2 years, she accused 7 different men of various ranks of sexual assault. And at first, they believed everything she said. But after a while, even the military got tired of her accusations and basically assigned her a safety companion. Someone to be with her all day and all night to make sure didn't get sa'd. That was how they got her out. And of course all 7 of those guys had their lives ruined by her. Some kicked out some lost rank but she was believed over the men every single time. Even I believed the first one, but after the 3rd 4th 5th and so on, I started to doubt them all. It was more like a case of a chick who was too busy fucking the whole base to study and now accusing everyone of sexual assault to take the focus off the fact that she was simply too incompetent to do her job.

This is not just a UK problem, I’ve dealt with the same thing here in the US. You can find a post about it in my Reddit history for details. There really isn’t a legal solution for this problem if you are male and going about it alone. Even if you are one of those people that will camp out in front of the police station every night and demand the police do their job and investigate allegations that are easily proven to be false, nothing will happen.

If you research the case of actress Pauley Perrette and her false allegations against her ex husband, actor Francis Shivers, you’ll see one of the most clear-cut cases of false allegations and the use of law-enforcement and the courts to harass somebody which resulted in not only the police and the courts taking no action against the false accuser, but actually aiding her in her endeavor to wreak havoc on her ex-husband’s life.

This article does an excellent job of showing the true nature of these kinds of accusations, such a good job actually that this article is no longer indexed on Google and any reference to it on Facebook has been deleted.

Pro tip for Reddit: If you have a serious question and you want to get serious advice on Reddit, get a throwaway and identify as a woman somewhere in your posts or threads.

I've been on Reddit since 2008 and the number one thing I have noticed is people give different answers to women, often giving them expensive advice for free along with biased advice. You will be able to ask questions that are banned in subreddit rules too because people make exceptions for women. You will get karma points and awards if that's your thing (especially if you drop the whole "women are oppressed" somewhere in your post) as well as being able to completely contradict yourself and not get called out.

Then just take the advice and change it for your real gender.

It makes me (64F Canadian) sick. Just today one of my closest male friends received his criminal-court verdict — "Not guilty" — after 21 months and $80K in legal fees, after a female friend he turned down for sex 2 years ago falsely accused him of sexual assault. Now he has to proactively go after her for defamation before she can launch a civil suit against him, where the burden of proof is much lighter.* He has learned that the legal system in Canada always assumes that the accused male is guilty. I'm relieved that he was found not guilty but I'm filled with absolute rage towards this vindictive woman.

*This is the Canadian legal system, YMMV.
