Has anyone here ever been told (directly or indirectly) that they're not allowed to cry? Like I struggle crying, physically. It's not that I have any issues with crying it's just that it takes a whole lot to tear me up and a whole lot more to keep me from pushing it back

Crying is also a sign of weakness men aren't comfortable showing weakness. When my grandpa passed away my dad told me solemnly about it and I went to process it, then I went after my dad and he was locked in his room crying. I didn't insert myself to console him because he wanted that privacy to get it out.

Yes crying is something men do but it's also something we don't necessarily do to be consoled and get attention.

Yes, men cry. For all sorts of reason. But usually, they do so in private. And if they are wise, they do it away from the women in their lives. But don't mistake what Netflix says for male friendliness. It is straight out of the feminist playbook. They are probably encouraging young boys to cry in front of their peers, thinking that they are doing their part destroying toxic masculinity, while treating masculine behavior as being defective female behavior. And those boys will suffer because of it.

Once again, I need to start asking the hard questions here because there have been posts too numerous to count that might as well be duplicates.

Men cry because it's normal, it's funadmentally human and good for the body and mind

You know what's also, alas, fundamentally human: to invalidate those cries and dismiss them depending on the issue they're talking about.

Netflix and others are very selective of what they want to hear coming out of the mouths of men. Especially when it comes to issues like Male Victims of Female rapists/domestic abusers.

Take a look at Metoo. Did you see everyone falling over themselves welcoming the stories of sexual harassement and molestation from men? No. It was basically a game of chance. Some were responsive, others accused them of attempting to usurp the experiences of female victims of male perpetrators. Others went so far as to say "It's not your time. It's their (females) time. Get lost!".

But Terry Crews, he was okay. They declared him a mascot only because the pereptrator was a man. Then were happy to throw him under the bus because he dared suggest that fathers/father figures were just as important in a child's life as mothers.

See what I mean?

So Netflix and all these other people endorsing the chance for men to cry, express their feelings, let go of their toxic masculinity, I'm sorry but it's a half-truth if not an outright lie while they're busy praising women who believe empowerment means refusing to take responsbility when caught harming someone and a justice system that has serious double-standards in sentencing.

I'm not going to start blindly trusting someone who, in one breath, tells me I have a right to have my voice heard then in another puts a clamp on it because it goes against their precious "Men are perpetrators, women are victims" narrative.

Convince me otherwise.

One of the most hideous concepts comes under the banner of caring and wanting to help men. Feminists have largely recognized that people don't care much about men who share their emotions or vulnerability.

Their solution: Men you have to learn to share your emotions more. You know, the way women do.

I don't. But it's not because I don't want to sometimes, it's because I becane emotionally stunted from 9 years of bullying, where tears egged my bullies on, so I could not show myself weak that way. Last time I cried was at a funeral for a close friend that comitted suicide, some 14 years ago.

A few years of therapy didn't break it, but helped me come to terms with it and find other healthier outlets than the drugs I'd been using.

Oh, and I sincerely loathe the men - and boys - berating other men for "showing weakness". I'd never judge a man because he cries.

There's nothing wrong with men crying, but I think society should encourage men to be mentally tough and able to withstand life challenges without falling to pieces.
