This isn't exactly an issue for all of us, but this is the closest thing to a safe space I have.

I went out with a friend last night, just having a drink (non-alcoholic) and talking about our problems in the gas station parking lot. We do this frequently, as it's pretty therapeutic and he's a fun guy to talk to. The gas station employees all know us by name, and vice-versa, no one has an issue with this.

So we're out here for a while, and a shaky looking woman and her husband buy some gas and leave. Afterwards the attendant, a guy I know very well, comes up to us laughing saying this woman told him she was afraid of being attacked or raped or something. So we kinda laugh it off, my friend says something like 'What, cause I'm a man I'm gonna beat somebody?' and we continue on. But when I got home I broke down sobbing. Why the hell do people think I'm so scary? I pride myself on being personable and talking to people in public when I can, to be friendly, but then shit like this happens. I couldn't hurt anyone if I tried and it hurts a lot when people insinuate I'm going to hurt them.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but this has always been the closest thing to a support group I've had.
