Actually not true, at all. There's a lot of people here who very clearly come across as being lower class, middle class, all over the spectrum. There's another thread where guys are complaining that women's income standards are "unrealistic", and the unrealistic salary is like 80k USD. You have to be from a poor background to think 80k or 100k is remotely near "successful". Above average, but it's like a "6", doesn't make you anywhere near a 10

Yup I’ve been saying this. I grew up UMC but most of my friends are working/lower class, have been their whole lives, and none of this ranking shit and weird standards seems to affect them nearly as much. I grew up in a middle to upper middle, 98% white town and the hang ups that people have around how they’re perceived (even having a different style is frowned upon), how the people they’re dating will make them look, etc. don’t exist in any of the more diverse areas I’ve lived in or visited. The social awkwardness in communities like the one I grew up in probably partially stems from never being exposed to how other groups of people live.
