When I was a kid in High school I thought that finding a girlfriend and having a dating life was as easy as finding a minimum wage job in a thriving economy, even if you don't find the best opportunity available for you, you can still find something right away and wait for something better in the future. Then I realized it's more like finding a medium profile job in a struggling or stagnating economy: you need to send your resume to dozens of different places, face rejection multiple times and wait an undefined amount of time before finding something. There's a sizeable minority of people under 30 (or even after 30) who are involuntary single and many of those who are in a relationship have probably spent months if not years being involuntarily single in between relationships. To me it looks like the second scenario I described above.
