Here’s the personality type frequencies by gender.

But yeah I agree with you in that most people are above average in some areas and below average in others. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t a cluster of folks whose strengths and weaknesses are most common.

A basic person is one going completely in the flow of what culture, media, academia and corporate pr firms want them to be, do, say and even think. No originality, uniqueness, or controversy about them. If, in whatever major cultural group theyre a part of, a certain opinion or trend is prevalent, the basic person will have that opinion and follow that trend. If the cultural group doesnt have an opinion, well then neither does the basic member.

Interacting with them is eerily like interacting with an npc in a game. You can kind of guess what theyre going to say next, they have no tangible thoughts on anything not within their limited purview, and after a while it gets really repetitive.

They are alive, yes, in the same way a bacterium is technically alive... but whether the basic person has a soul - a little man in the control room behind the eyes pulling switches and making actual individualistic decisions - is anyones guess. If they have souls, they may as well not, since theyre not doing anything with them. They are completely products of external forces with no ability to resist, rebel or create their own momentum in life.

Everything is just inertia. Basic people are strong evidence against utilitarianism; if there are more basic people on earth living happy satisfied lives, one has to wonder whether anything was truly gained. Like, if there are 1000000 steves in the world all doing steve things, that may as well just be one. Its all the same dude. You could quietly shuffle 99999 of them into a meat grinder with no cultural or intellectual loss to the world. I struggle to conceive of that as murder. More like clipping the excess from your fingernail or shredding documents that you already have a copy of.

"Basic" involves an affectation, but it's an affectation that takes as much work and/or care and attention as discarded condoms floating on a creek that flows through a Thai village.

I think a basic person differs by class. I could describe a basic middle class man and woman, but UMC people and working class people are going to object to my description because my middle class experiences are different than their own experiences. From an American perspective, there are regional and ethnic variations, as well.

Average, average looking guy: Has a small circle of slightly nerdy friends. Goes to the gym to lift weights occasionally and maybe does a sport a couple of times a week. Drinks beer occasionally. Watches sport voth alone and with mates. Plays online a lot. If single goes out occasionally to try and hook up and uses tinder most nights. Never gets hit on but women are receptive to light flirting. Has a lot of female friends. If single gets laid maybe once every two weeks. Listens to hip hop.

Average girl: wears make up daily and is fashion conscious but more about style than brands. Has a few hobbies, often sporty like climbing. Runs a few times a week, maybe goes to the gym. Goes out for drink with the girls or coffee on a Sunday. If single, uses tinder for just online validation or meaningles dates occasionally but rarely follows up. Gets hit on / catcalled maybe once every two weeks in day to day life (eg walking to work) once a week online and once a week if she goes to bars. If single, gets laid maybe once a or every two months. Listens to pop. Gets a manicure or eyebrow wax once every two weeks.

No. Like the top comment suggests, it is a term specifically meant for a class of people, mostly chicks (basic bitches) inherently valuable. Girls who went to or at least had the option of college and were raised to care about their appearance.

"Average" to me is an unkept overweight woman at the grocery store spending her beta loser husbands money. This is what I see the most of in life ie: average

It's the ideal of average, which many people adhere to, in order to fit in. And it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, because in a pluralism of many different individuals and subcultures, this "basic bro/girl" is the most commonly observed subculture and by definition it is the "average". But there is nothing objectively inherent to "average", like everything else, it is a trend.

The way they talk, the clothes they wear, the food they eat, the music they listen to, the phone they use and the shows they watch are virtually all the same.

It's basically the people who seem almost incapable of being unique in any meaningful way. So in a way you could call them the average person but it's more specific than that.

It's more like the average person that's OBSESSED with following the crowd and any new trend the crowd is on at the moment
