Interesting, do you feel the same way about other forms of bigotry? Is it excused because the few of a certain class of people did something bad?

Reducing misogyny to simply being unable to get laid and women not liking them is ridiculous; the vagina isn't some magic cave that cures men of their deep seated beliefs and traumas the moment they get a whiff of it, there's no shortage of men who think women are lesser creatures who still get access to their loins.

I'd even say misandry is also killing men, albeit not with physical violence but psychological. Kick a dog that's down enough and it's eventually going to stop getting back up.

When people compare the two, they’re comparing them on the basis that they are both sexism and sexism is wrong. It makes sense that misogyny is a more damaging form of sexism, since men are more physically capable than women, but it’s still sexism.

Men are naturally more violent and aggressive so it’s valid for women to fear/dislike them.

Men might be naturally more aggressive, but men aren’t born inherently evil. They don’t have to use that aggression to harm their own lives, including by harming the lives of others by committing crimes.

And it’s not helpful to be misandrist in many ways. Women live in a society that’s 50% men and most of those men, in Western societies, are decent enough. Brushing them all with the same negative brush makes living among them unpleasant and robs them of positive experiences with men. If they want political change, they are going to need the help of men (being 50% of the population). That’s harder to do while being sexist against them. Also, the people who are going to join the police to fight against male rapists are men, due to a man’s greater physical capacity and natural aggression, supposing that exists. Also, misandry also enables misogyny. Misogynists can use that as a rationalization to be a misogynist and promote misogyny.

1st of all, thank god for sexual dimorphism. Because we see in nature when the female is bigger than the male, it invariably ends spectacularly poorly for the male. Am I suggesting that they reason women commit fewer violent acts is because they are smaller? In part, yes. But also because they receive more social support. A woman crying is instantly attended to. A man crying is probably viewed as pathetic or insane. Is that misandry? What do you think?

But anyway, basic misandry would be continued abuse of, or hatred directed towards, boys and men simply because they are male, not because of any actions they've done. This should be easy to understand. It is not uncommon.

Hating someone simply on this preemptive basis should be recognized as vile. REally hope PPD can get this.

If there is internalized misogyny, why do you think there isn't internalized misandry? What else is the idea that men are inherently less valuable and so it is more okay to send them to kill and die in war than an expression of misandry? Or even the willingness of many men to attack or kill another man rather than a woman?

Misandry is thus systemic and kills men. Also, don't forget that misandry from women can be directed at boys who don't have a way to defend themselves yet. Both from mothers and teachers. Which is a typical situation where women are in a position of power over males.

I consider myself a feminist.

Misogynism is far more than hating women because of personal reasons. Rather, it's a far more deep-rooted, majorly subconscious belief that women are simply worth less. There are good women and bad women, yet even the best woman is worse than the average man. It's more than just sexually; it's emotionally, rationally, intellectually- you name it.

Misogyny is inherently bad and shouldn't exist.
Misogyny is objectively more damaging and deep-rooted than misandry.

But misandry exists. It is still maturing.

A man is an adult male of the species homo sapiens. To clarify, "adult" here does not mean someone who's able to pay their own rent, or treat others with respect. Adult simply means that this male has gone through puberty and is no longer a boy.
Some additional notes about men:

- A man is someone who pays his female employees less.

- A man is someone who interrupts a woman when she's in the middle of saying something.

- A man expects his wife to do all the cooking and cleaning.

What's that you say? Not ALL men pay their employees less? Not ALL men interrupt women? Thanks for pointing that out. You're who this meme is about.

This whole ordeal already felt like misandry in my book. I think the thing that gets me is the generalization. I hate that.

"Not all men." Fine. But pointing out individual exceptions doesn't help us understand or combat behaviors that really are mainly committed by men, from small things like interruptions up to domestic violence and rape. Not all men beat their partners, but people who beat their partners are mostly men. Pointing out that you're not one of them doesn't help us figure out how to understand and deal with that problem.

Reading this excuse of an article had me shaking my head. I believe that in many cases, it's not so much an individual exception as it is the norm. By the articles logic: "A man is someone who rapes/abuses his partner."

I can't find myself agreeing with a sentence like that.

The biggest issue I've always had with the way generalizations like these are justified is that "we KNOW it's not ALL men!"

Who is "we"?
And will "we" still know this in a decade? The internet is a dumb place.

Anyways, I would love for men to take my issues seriously. If I go around saying men are trash, I don't expect them to listen.

This post itself is proof that misandry exist. A woman’s bad experience with men doesn’t excuse hatred of them anymore than a man’s bad experience with women excuses his misogyny or bad experiences with black people excuses racism. By the logic of this post, any kind of bigotry or prejudice can be excused by negative personal experiences with that group. What do you think about the alt-right using disproportionate crime statistics of black people to justify racism against them? You are doing the same thing, except towards men. Just as misogyny can cause misandry, misandry can cause misogyny and this kind of post nothing but breeds more misogyny, not that it is excused.
