It’s gotten to the point that this little corner of the internet is attracting viewers from all over the globe

Which should be great! Yay!

Except that, in practice, you have people chiming in on theories designed for Westernized SMPs/RMPs ... and, at best, completely misunderstanding them. At worst, fighting tooth and nail over stuff they have zero life experience with

In the past month alone, I’ve gotten into heated arguments on PPD, only to find out (45 minutes into a back and forth):

  • That the guy yelling about women’s preference for older men was basing it on his experience in Western Africa (which, after I looked into it, has by far the biggest age gap in marriages in the world)

  • The guy arguing that the typical American high school/college experience no longer exists lives and grew up in SE Asia, and never set foot in the US

  • That the guy arguing about how parents should be taking control of their sons’ sex lives and planning family vacations around getting their teenage sons get laid was from some area where arranged marriages are very common (he refused to say where, but admitted that much)

There is literally nothing to be learned from debating people whose cultures are so wildly different. These guys are doing themselves a disservice by trying to apply techniques that work in the western world to their lives, and they are doing the western users a disservice by not identifying their cultural differences early on
