(b) people who feel they've been used by them

IMHO (a) can go pound sand. I do have sympathy for (b). It's possible they thought that they would kindle feelings over time, but it's also possible they were conned.

They're demonized by men because men want someone who is sexually attracted to their looks and internal personality, not how much money they have. They are upset that such women would instantly leave them if they suddenly ran out of money.

They're demonized by women because they're "cheapening" sex by giving it to men without those men putting in any kind of effort besides having a bunch of wealth already.

To men, women should ideally be sexually attracted to who they are naturally so that any unlucky event could happen to that man and she would still be attracted to him.

To women, the men who should be getting the top tier men are the intrinsically high-value ones after putting in some work to attract those women.

There’s a big difference between finding a mate that can secure resources and being a gold-digger. Gold-digger implies that your only reason for being there is the man’s resources. And frankly, if you’re only there for the free ride but you remain loyal to that one guy, most guys probably wouldn’t even have a problem with that. Golddiggers are more like vampires, they take what they can get and move onto the next person.

I see nothing wrong with a woman who choose a man based on his finances with the exception of malicious intent to divorce rape him in the future , or cheat or trick him into a sex less marriage once she has the leverage.

If you're going to have children in the first place, it is preferable that the father is resourceful, but a relationship based largely on one party's desire for the other party's money seems like a recipe for a shaky relationship.

Also, (assuming my understanding of gold digging is right) what would happen if a universal principle was developed based on the gold digger mentality? It could backfire pretty badly, and I don't know how many who would be fine with that.

Generally speaking, gold digging as understood by most in the modern era that for the most part gold diggers seek to acquire the maximum benefits/wealth for themselves, rather than out of a sense of providing the best upbringing for their offspring.
