Would you treat the robot as an object or as a human?

Would you treat anyone else like you would treat a robot or a human, because you don't know if you are interacting with a human or a robot (because they are indistinguishable)?

Would the robots have some kind of a mark (thus making them distinguishable)?

Wouldn't the robot leave you if you mistreat them the same way a human would leave you?

Wouldn't the robots start to demand the same rights that the humans have, because they are indistinguishable?

The only problem this would solve is that of "the first" step of a relationship (getting a partner), the other steps would be the same as that with a human (keeping the partner with you). In other words, it would solve the problem of getting the first date, but wouldn't solve the problem of getting subsequent dates with the same "person".

You should check out the video game "Detroit: Become Human" (though it's more like an interactive movie with many choices that can have influence on the later game. You play through the stories of 3 characters (whose stories tie together in the end) and a characters story might nd prematurelybecause they died early due to yur choices) and the webtoon "LoveBot" as they deal with robots that are indistinguishable from humans.

But I see them as more facilitators during sex. Like a stage hand or a fluffer. They get the performers (us) ready for the scene and clean up after we're done. Maybe standing by with bottled water and cigarettes after we're done.

If we adjust this part, then yes; it will not only help "everyone here", but everyone period.

I'll explain with an analogy.

A lot of first- and second-wave feminists claimed that if women don't have to rely on men materially, financially, provisionally, they'll choose partners based on who they like, and not who they can rely on; as a result, there will be more love, understanding, and friendship between men and women overall.

The state came up with a wonderful idea - take money away from men and give to women through a couple extra steps, so that it's not that obvious what is happening, and bam, women become "financially independent".

In response... women chose no-one. Divorces and singledom skyrocketed. Women became more deliberately obnoxious and hostile. And when confronted about this situation, they responded that this is actually a good thing.

So, this is my response as well.

Might it be that such robots solve everyone's dating problems? - Yes. And it will be a good thing.

Might it be that with such robots, men will become more openly dismissive, indifferent, and/or hostile towards women? - Yes. And it will actually also be a good thing. Why? - Because. If you think emancipation of women had no downsides, you already have all the necessary ad hocs on why singledom and hostility, indifference, and dismissiveness between the sexes is a good thing when women initiate and propagate them.

Take those ad hocs and put them here as well.

My guess would be men, since it seems like more men are unsuccessful socially. I think we tend to anthropomorphize things quite a bit already, so we would embrace a sophisticated AI. But who knows maybe we would argue with it, it would nag us, etc.

Sex robots have no game and would basically lack social variety. There's a word for that but it's offensive and I won't say it but we know what it is. They would be hell for women. Even if robots got over that hump - the best case scenario for women - they would be invalid as status boosters for women because any female could get that alpha robot, so they'd lose all of their value.

Kind of the same would be true for men, but lack of warmth and socially vibrant female companionship is Tuesday for most men, they are already used to that for the most part except Alpha males who will monopolize the attention of human women as they always have. Nothing would change for men in the worst case scenario, but all other scenarios end relatively better for men than the current status quo.

Over time women will learn how to compete against and ultimately outperform sex robots. It will mean generations of hard times for females but not their total doom. Women won't become obsolete but the human population will steeply decline back to sustainable levels. Robots will also become great caretakers for the childless elderly.

It would “solve” things for men who see women as NPCs and basically malfunctioning sex bots already, aka most of this sub. Well... maybe. They’d finally get their hot submissive body that couldn’t say no, but I feel like the robot’s inability to feel pain and suffer emotionally would ultimately be a boner killer. And they wouldn’t get any validation either, so the same guys who won’t visit prostitutes for this reason would probably feel the same about sex bots.

For women, a robot is never going to replace a relationship because we get no satisfaction from being with someone or something that doesn’t want to be there. For purely sexual purposes, a sex robot could serve as an enhanced sex toy, but it couldn’t replace a partner any more than a vibrator can.

That is assuming these robots aren’t sentient. If they are, you’re describing... slavery. Don’t think any more needs to be said on that.
