Almost all women (medical professionals male and female included) I've been talking to recently are telling me my Husband is a lazy, horrible and an abusive man.

We are expecting our first child and he is excited. But can't seem to show affection or his excitement due to the stress he is under. As a bit of a stress relief for himself he makes some very crude jokes about my size. The jokes don't bother me in the slightest. But they do bother other women enough for them to tell me NOT to have his child, and that I need to find a better man.

He is this wonderful man that goes off to work each day, cleans the house, cares for our pets, cooks all meals, does all the shopping and takes care of me. All because I sit on my fat ass all day due to the fact I'm too sick, weak and sore to care for myself and him at the moment. Even after telling them the extent of what he has done for me while sick, they still tell me to find a better man. Because of his inability to openly show affection towards me.

I am horrified at the lack of support for my husband while I am pregnant. Doctors have offered me support but not him, and I have asked if there is any support for him and they quickly change the subject.

I had no idea this would be so hard for my husband. They really need to start offering more support for first time and single fathers.

From now on I'm going to ignore any comment about how he should't be making jokes about me. We both have a dirty and dark sense of humor.

And I'm also adding more information about myself, so people will stop telling me I'm not seeing any signs of abuse. It's a bit long but there's a TL;DR at the bottom.

As a child I was neglected and abused by my parents. So I grew thick skin and have a list of mental health issues from that. When I started dating I would do very reckless things, even had relationships where there was abuse bounce back between the two of us. Finally things hit a real low for me when I almost died from my own stupidity, that was a real eye opener. So I set about changing who I was. People around me didn't and couldn't understand why I was trying to change myself. Even the new guys I was dating, I'd tell them I was trying to change, and they didn't care. I eventually started at a new school in another attempt to keep up with the change I wanted. There I meet my Husband. Before we started dating he treated as he treated his male friends. I went to his 18th for drinks, I had a bad flu, an ear infection and was depressed about what was going on in my life at home, I got extremely drunk and let out information I shouldn't have. The next day the alcohol hit it's mark and I was sick again. While his other guests started leaving I stole his bed, and every now and then would ask if I needed something to eat or drink, meanwhile I was puking all day. Finally I asked for something to eat. He went to the kitchen, because he was taking so long I thought he parents asked him to do something first. When he came back in a little dish was little fingers of celery. Everything finally sank in, this was a real man. He had put up with me being a self-destructive bitch at his birthday and still manged to show he cared about a sick friend. When I was better and back at school I sat down and talked to him, I apologized about how I had acted and told him I would like it if we could be more than just friends. He agreed. At the start our relationship was a bit rocky, but I told him who I had been in the past and that I wanted to change, and he stuck with me understanding I wanted to change. He makes me want to be a better person, because of how kind he is. Nine years later, he has paid for me to see doctors about my mental health and has supported me all the way. Hell he even forked out the money for me to have braces...

He is paying to fix what other people have done to me. Not the other way around.

TL;DR: I had a screwed up childhood and teen years. A guy with a sense of humor showed me kindness, we started dating. Since then he's been paying mentally and financially to help me be a better person and to get better mentally. He helped save my life.

Edit 2: The rant is more about how unfair men are treated while the woman is pregnant. It sickens me that women get a free pass with "it's just hormones". That is not an excuse for anything.
