Did we forget that body oder and “the entire enviroment stinks” oder went hand in hand? If you are sweating up a storm at the gym the entire enviroment is allowed to smell that way. If you live in an unhygenic place where clean water and soap were unheard of then this applies too.

But we don’t live an entire bus ride or horse ride away from civilization. A clean office with a smelly human will cause more alarm then in the “olden” days. Your body oder didn’t change, our enviroments got naturally cleaner, wash yo damn selves.

One of the meanest things I can ever remember doing in school.

There were these two kids in math class Jacob and Christine we'll call them. They were a bit overweight for back in those days and often got made fun of. This got to the point the teacher who was basically a permanent substitute at that point heard.

She got up in front of the class saying,

So, I'm going to preface this with, I still wear deodorant when I need to and suck up the pain for later

But I get the anti deodorant angle. I am allergic to practically everything when it comes to my skin, laying in bed after a sweaty night feels like I'm covered in biting bugs I'm so allergic to my own sweat, much less any kind of lotions or ointments or anything that can get on the skin. Deodorant? I break out in suppurating cysts and abscesses, god awful examples of an irritated, clogged, allergic pore turning super Nova in the worst way. And sometimes it only takes a couple of hours to get a reaction, if I try to wear any for days on end it gets more irritated, although there are other times where I'm fine for a while and have no reaction, probably because I rolled a 20 and managed not to get a clogged pore. And yes I've tried basically every natural option or alternative, either they don't work or don't avoid the reaction. I get not wanting to put crap on, and wishing there were pleasant, non-irritating options.

It seems weird that sharing that view is a pussy pass denied qualifying post, I know plenty of wookie guys and theys that feel the same way.

So I’m not asking this rhetorically to prove a point but rather in a serious way because I don’t get it.

Something this post always makes me think about is why is it generally accepted to expect other people to smell (or not smell) a certain way? If we swapped one sense for another and one product for another then this would be telling ugly people to wear makeup. Why is that not ok but expecting people to wear deodorant is fine?

The way people smell and what is deemed acceptable seems to vary quite a bit across both time and culture so I’d have a hard time being convinced by the argument that certain smells are offensive and others aren’t just at face value.

Just to be clear here I’m not advocating for stinking not defending red, just genuinely curious why this distinction seems fine to most people.

If I said that black hair smells bad or men in women’s clothes disgust me then I think the reaction would be quite a bit different from the same people.

I’d just be genuinely curious for someone to make an earnest attempt at explaining why these things are different.

As for deodorant, simply roll on a bit under each arm and you will not have a smell good or bad at all for a day. People make the mistake of spraying heaps of spray on and it's overpowering.

For the record you can wash yourself with hot water, but it kind of wears off after a while so you either wash yourself like hourly or you put on deodorant which neutralizes the bacteria in your sweaty parts for 10-12 hours, if you are at your job or travel in public places.

There are of course stinky people in both genders so it's kind of meaningless. Obviously for women it's way less attractive, especially if one has also some extra kilograms there.
