The money isn’t for the woman, it’s for the child. In many cases child support alone is not enough to meet the needs of the child.

Not sure about requirements of welfare near you but you seem to have some beliefs that don’t always hold true. I’d be interested in the qualifications for welfare in your area because you make it seem much easier to receive than it is.

Because in a well organised society we take care of those that are unable to do so for themselves. Single parenting payments aren't free money for mama to do whatever they want with. It's money to provide for those children so hopefully they grow up and be tax payers too. Remember it's important not to attack single parents or welfare recipients because some do the wrong thing. There are systemic cycles in place that unfortunately quite easily predict the outcome for those people and to a certain degree it's out of their control. If your parent was a single parent, chances are you will be too. If your parents are low income, chances are you will be aswell. It doesn't mean single parents breed lowlife losers or poor people are dumb and unambitious, it means there are certain systems in place that stop people from progressing. There really is a huge debate within psychiatry circles of nature vs nurture, free will vs not. To a certain degree you have no free will, to a certain degree "choosing" to do something different isnt enough at all. You ARE the product of your environments and your early life upbringing. Even if you're 100 times better than your parent, you are still a product of that early childhood- your success is based in spite. Others are debilitated and are just physically unable to do better. These people don't deserve to die, soiled in the streets. Paying tax doesn't make you human. This topic is likely bigger than you can comprehend since you're asking this question to begin with. Just try as hard as you can to understand the good parts of the world that you get to experience is due to systems put in place to stop every individual falling and suffering.

Society is a pyrimid that depends on destitute people to exploit through labor.

If people in poverty were made to die off, then our current society would collapse.

Women and children in poverty are the main resources around the world. They're most of our means of production.

Without destitute women and children, there would be no cheap products to consume or service industry workers.

Needless to say they're also a litteral black market product.

So women and children have to be kept alive to exploit through capitalism. Otherwise, capitalism will fail.

They are not entitled to it, the only thing that is an entitlement in the United States is social security and you still have to have put in enough quarters to get it. I don't know why you're using the word entitlement incorrectly, you are not entitled the 2 welfare you qualify for welfare

They aren't entitled to it, but as a society we have decided to financially support them because we hope that the benefit to the children is worth the possible downsides. This is why we regularly adjust these things via elections and new legislation, attempting to continually improve the overall situation without causing too many unintended consequences.

I don’t think women dream of being on welfare. Sadly, many women have to pay for childcare and work—with childcare taking a big chunk of their earnings. Women still only make 70 cents for every dollar a man makes, so there is the added burden of not making as much as they could. It would be nice to see women having the opportunity to earn more and then they don’t have to rely on welfare. My mom was on welfare and she didn’t want to, but she needed it. And she didn’t get a lot of money. She had four kids under the age of 12, my dad didn’t pay any child support, and she was cleaning houses to care for us. She was getting like $150 per month, so don’t worry, she didn’t feel like she could rest on her laurels and live off of welfare. My mom had to meet with the welfare office and show proof that she didn’t have money and she had to make the time in her schedule with four kids to meet with the welfare office. My mom was on welfare for about a year and she was able to get more houses to clean so she didn’t need to rely on the extra help. So, I find it offensive that you call welfare a handout when women don’t get that much and my mom worked hard to raise us on her own. Just because you’re dealing with issues in your life doesn’t mean you can make a blanket statement about others.

I'd like to know where you got those figures from. In the UK a lot more welfare money goes to old people than single mothers.

Anyway, most people don't want children starving in the street. Also, if you want to be American and selfish about it, if you have children starving in the street they and their mothers will soon be thieving and doing sex work which isn't a nice environment for you, the holy taxpayer.
