I disagree. Yes it is so much harder for a man to get sex than a woman. Oftentimes when a married man finds a willing partner it's not because he tried so hard, it's because it kind of fell in his lap and he lucked out. It's kind of like winning the lottery and asking him to ignore it and not cash it in. However when it comes to being a woman sex is always at your fingertips much in the same way you can look anywhere on the ground and pick up a pebble. In one case we are asking women to ignore the pebbles while at the same time asking a man to ignore his lottery ticket.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that cheating women are "worse". I put it in quotation marks because I think it's worse overall for the stability of the relationship. I believe that a man can cheat and truly think nothing of it in terms of his relationship. Whereas if a woman cheats, she cheats with her whole self. Like she often will see it as a relationship rather than just cheating. I frequent the Adultery sub a whole lot, and any time I start reading about how someone wants to leave their spouse 9/10 it's a woman. Men cheat to stay, women cheat to leave. Which really, I'm interested in the profile of a married man with children who seeks to leave his wife for another woman. That would be very interesting to me.

I would say that both men and women cheating is equally wrong because it's not about "how much interest" you really have in a relationship, it's just about being dishonest, I don't care if such dishonesty was easy or hard: you're just being dishonest.

From an objective perspective, because it is easy for a woman, all she'd have to do is accept another's advances.

I think, if cheating is wrong it is wrong because it is a betrayal of trust, from that standpoint, there is no reason to say, it's worse if men/women do it. In regards of men, in many cases, it happens due to a financial transaction. Also dating is not equally sucks for all men. There is a proportion of men who can have sex with a different woman on any given day of the week and there are men with far less options yet still much more then the avarage... At large though, sure, it is far harder for men to cheat, though we shall not forget about the timescale either. Some may cheat every month some may do once in 10 years..

I think the more interesting question is why are we still expecting sexual exclusivity in an era when one can suddenly decide that they belong to a different gender?

Therefore, because you as a man went to such lengths and ACTIVELY pursued sex outside of your relationship, it says a lot more about your interest in the relationship than someone who has sex available to them at all times and decides to accepts the offer.

As a man, you're aware that she has a constant stream of opportunities (they're always there, even if not stated directly). If she shows even a hint of not being able/willing to shut down all offers, then she is not worth much to you.

Disagree for these reasons

- a cheating man can't produce a pregnancy from the affair and claim that his faithful wife is the mother and trick her into committing a huge sum of resources into raising the child

- men who can cheat are often already attractive; i.e they've already put in the work to becoming desirable. Consequently, many of these men can cheat with minimal to no further resource investment.

If we go along with your assumptions about ease of getting sex, then from a moral desperation point of view I'd say your logic is backwards and that it would be "worse" for the woman to do it.

It's more scummy for a rich person to shoplift than a poor person because the former has the means to acquire things legally by paying money, while the poor person is more likely tempted by the desperation of being able to acquire a scarce resource more easily.

In this case, the woman is the rich person because she gets sex a lot easier, and doing the right thing of breaking up before getting some strange isn't as big as a sacrifice because she can more easily get into another relationship. Whereas for the man it's a much bigger loss to break up just to get some side action because he knows he will inevitably stay single much longer.
