Anecdotally, and I'm sure others have seen this, MOST hot single women over 25 (nevermind successful) fall into one of three categories, unrealistic expectations (think being realistic is settling), unable to commit (wants to keep shopping [usually until the dating pool has passed them by]), OR constantly choosing the wrong partners (usually that narcissist who LOOKS like the stable successfully mate they want).

The outlier of course are the rare one who simply doesn't find the right connection or the truly bonkers ones who can't maintain a relationship.

So why do 30 something men date 20 something women? It's really VERY simple. There is a faaaaaaar larger pool of eligible partners.

These women are living lives of regret. They married their careers and turned they backs on their biological tendency to reproduce, essentially living the life their mothers told them was going to be more fulfilling because they didn’t have the option. I think the proper balance is autonomy outside of the family structure, not two parents chasing careers. Men cannot make babies so the role inherently falls to women to take a step back from their career if they want a family. Otherwise live with the consequences.

I think this is a good way to look at it. But it goes both ways. Does dating you require more effort than it's worth? Many successful men don't have a lot of free time and they don't want to spend what little they have devising ways to keep some boring woman amused.
