It is called something but I can't remember the name. The psychology is that since another mate has approved of you, she has to do less work to vet you, so instead of spending time vetting another guy you are seen as safe bet. Also if a beautiful girl is at your side, then you are vetted for beautiful girls.

It's sort of like how it is more difficult to get a job when you're unemployed vs. when you already have a job.

You're less desperate, you're obviously capable of being in a certain position, someone else has vetted you, etc.

That is more desirable than someone who is unemployed, especially if they have no experience.

It's also possible that women see you as someone 'safe' to show attention to. Sometimes a woman may have interest in dancing with a man (this also applies with giving men compliments) only to have a guy think that she is DTF, it can be awkward. Since you're with someone, you may take the dance or the compliment without making assumptions.

BUT if it’s a friend it’s a MASSIVE pull factor. I’m much more likely to approach a guy in a bar if he is with a mixed sex group of friends! It shows he can hold friendships with women and/or his mates are probably in stable relationships and these are the girlfriends. Either way it’s a positive reflection of character.

That's the social hierarchy of the bar. The guy with the girls is at some inate level of more interest and influence than without. This is in line with the study that women are attracted to or turned on by people who have power.

As a man, I'm more into having casual conversation with a couple at a bar, especially if I'm alone. They're more likely to be balanced and my approach is seen as friendly and neutral. Couples can sometimes be the most approachable at a bar.

Can confirm. Went to a bar with chick a few weeks ago (very rare for me). When I went with this girl, I just felt like all eyes were on us.
