i am living proof, i met my current girlfriend almost just like that. you never know, and you can't try to script your life - all you can control is putting yourself in places you can succeed. i was single at that time, but i did a lot to help my cause then - worked out and was in phenomenal shape, developed extreme confidence, and put out the best version of myself possible.

i had no idea of knowing it at the time when we met, but she is now the love of my life and we have created memories together that would have been erased had i not been willing and open to say hi.

So just tonight (and I fucking kid you not), as a quick FR, I'm talking to the male bartender who at a bar I frequent. The bar is winding down, and there's only a handful of us there.

Now, I'm honestly sick right now. I have a respiratory infection and pretty much look like shit. I just popped into the bar because I needed to get out of my house. I'm wearing flip flops, and my hair is a greasy mess, though I'm otherwise clean shaven and clean generally.

The bartender, on the other hand, is very clean cut, fit, and has an ex-girlfriend that he's pining over who is, imo, a fucking moron hooters girl, and I would say an HB7. Worse, he's just gotten oneitis so hard that got her middle name tattooed on his left ring finger... and they're not back together, officially. Alarm bells ringing?

So our topic at hand is what bars are our favorites. We find agreement on a bar/restaurant that we like due to the food and atmosphere, and we also agree that it's not the type of bar to meet people.

And then he says to me "I'm not the kind of person to just come up to strangers and say 'hey, how are you doing?' I just prefer to go out with people I know."

And I then told him, "Well, saying 'hey, how you doing?' is an excellent way to get laid." He laughed, and agreed, however in a manner that I didn't believe.

So... ok. I took a few sips of my beer, and this woman sits down at the bar with a guy she's been talking to all night. This woman was pointed out to me much earlier in the night by some friends because she's a field reporter for a local TV station.

This guy buys her (another?) beer and heads off to the bathroom.

All I simply do is turn to her and say "hey, how's it going?"

"Not bad, you?"

"I could complain, but it's only because I'm a bit sick. I'm on the upturn, so (point out to an indiscriminate place) I'm seeing the horizon right there. How are you doing?"

Before she can answer, I said in a joking southern accent, "Didn't I just see you on the TV?"

She laughed. She slide over to sit next to me, which was the seat where the guy she had been talking to all night was just sitting. When he came back, he kind of hovered, like he was trying to figure out how to get into the conversation, and then left. He gave up way too quick and left the bar.

So consider that I've been talking to this girl for only a few minutes, I never puffed my chest or said the guy couldn't be part of the conversation between the three of us, but he was so quick to defeat that he ended up fucking himself over, after I witnessed him trying to swoon this girl for at least two hours.

Now, I have my phone on me. However, I didn't even hit on this girl to actually pick her up, but to instead show the bartender how easy it can eventually be to stop being an AFC. So, when he checked to see if I need another drink, and I make the obvious statement that I need a napkin and a pen to get her number.

I didn't ask for her number. It was at that moment she found out I wanted her number. I simply asked for a napkin and a pen. I then explain that I really need to be in bed. We made tentative plans for Saturday.

When I closed out my tab, his "tip" was "it's that easy".

And he says to me upon seeing the tab "Duly noted. My hat's off to you, sir."

edit: all of this was within 30 minutes. I was drunk and very sick when I wrote this.

Not approaching when I know I should have... that seriously eats me up. Earlier today I ran into a scenario almost just like the one in the video and I can never get that situation back.

Really cute girl gets on bus, sits across from me, I glance over at her and she smiles back. We hold eye contact for a second or two and she looks down and silently chuckles a bit. I look away for a few seconds. Look Back. She does too. We share a smile once again. My heart is racing. I'm going to do this. I have about 10 seconds before I get off the bus.
