This is such a weird thought experiment. Are we imagining a hypothetical scenario where only one gender exists? Because yes, a society like that would be different from out current one, but it would still be a society.

Short of making babies, men don't need women same as women don't need men.

If women disappeared tomorrow, violence between men would hit all time highs, it seems extremely likely even cataclysmically so. Hospitalized men or men soon to be hospitalized would pretty much be doomed as Healthcare is run and maintained by women. So you've got more deaths there. Statistically all of you would die about 7 years earlier.

Education would stand still. Communication would pretty much instantly crumble without the administrative backbone and that alone could cause endless catastrophic issues. To say nothing of childcare. I don't suppose many maintenance and nuclear plant workers will be bringing babies to the coal mine.

But no, probably we aren't necessary.

This is an idiotic thought experiment. Having half the population vanish overnight is going to destabilize civilization no matter what. Yes, there are some jobs that are 98% men. Women would certainly have a difficult time, but they would adapt. Obviously societies will struggle, even collapse in some places as we lose expertise that will take years to rebuild. But humans will adapt and overcome as is usual.

What do you think women are doing all day, sitting around being useless? They're taking care of men's homes and children so they can do exciting "important" jobs. They're working in those jobs themselves. They're the backbone of industry that cares for the very old, young and sick, freeing up men to do other things. They're educating people to go into the "important" roles. Some of them have quite meaningless office jobs but so do men and you still think men overall are important. They built civilisation by bringing people together and helping to develop every major discovery and bringing in money and food and doing most of the labour at home and caring work that men didn't want but needed to be done so people didn't die. I guess you can say they weren't often in charge doing the glamorous bits but their efforts and ideas were used every step of the way.

Society needs teachers and nurses majority of whom are women. Women are also almost 38 percent of doctors.

I can switch the question and say the same thing about men. Do women need men? If automation and robots can take over physical jobs like construction what else would men be good for? What else can men do that women cannot?

Maybe men wouldn’t predominate these areas if they didn’t actively ensure women didn’t compete with them. These types of declarations always fall flat on their face for that reason. It’s meaningless and silly, and given the nature of this sub made up of men that express a consistent over-dependence on women, I’m not so sure if y’all would be okay as you proclaim. But who knows? And, more importantly, who cares?

The basics of our society require the textile, farming, child rearing, social work, nursing, computer, and homekeeping work, which is largely done by women (Computer work is largely done by men now, but it was largely done by women for the longest time. Men only took it over recently, comparatively speaking). That being said, basically the only thing stopping women from doing other wok is the men in those other jobs making hostile environments. Otherwise, there are plenty of women in infrastructure and trade work, and plenty more women who want to do those things.

This is not something to be solved on the social level but on the individual level. The question is "do you as a man absolutely need women?"

The answer should be a resounding NO. Most men want women for sex. They can easily just jerk off. Many men want women to give them validation. Well, they can learn to get their own validation through work, career, hobbies and other pursuits.

Men don't need women. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you will be free. Once you are free of your need, you can finally appreciate women for who they are and want to be with them because you want to and not because you tell yourself you need to.

Yes of course. In all my relationships, I’ve really valued my woman’s empathy, kindness, intelligence, intution, social awareness, planning amazing vacations/travel, gift giving and companionship.

It’s great to have a supportive and trusted partner you can be intimate with, depend on to have your back, and take on the world together. After having experienced that, life feels a bit empty without such a person and going alone.

The way i’ve seen it described is this (and we are going with strict gender roles just for this to illustrate my point, since they do define the differences clearly), men create and defend the house, the woman makes it home and a place worth living in.

Even if we solve the reproduction and workforce issue you have to remember that sexual dimorphism has existed since even before our species is Homo Sapiens.

Removing that from the equation would produce something drastic and completely different from what we know. Would we still even have sex drive or retain our sexual organs? (they are not needed anymore if reproduction in your scenario is asexual).

In the case of sexualities still exist we might have homosexual activity by necessity (look at prisons) or even some males assuming female roles (if the men in the scenario is still attracted to women). And then we will end up in the same place but complaining about attractive twinks instead of women.

Just like the opposite scenario (women with no men) handwaving away the primary issue (reproduction, sudden loss of population) would mean the answer will be yes, society will probably survive and might even thrive, although big changes mean incredibly chaotic transient state.

But the resulting society would be so different than what we know or can imagine since you are taking away one of the most fundamental characteristic of our species.

This is literally the point women try to hide which is that women are replaceable and not as important outside of reproduction. Also it's almost impossible for women to do the hard job of men and no guarantee that the loser women will become aggressive because there is no men to control them
