People talk about divorce as if it automatically means the drama is over, parents no longer fight, the kids happily and peacefully transition to their new reality. None of that is true.

1) "But it's better than parents constantly arguing". Contrary to popular belief divorce does not mean the parents stop arguing, in some cases it becomes even worse.

2) No-one talks about how traumatic it can be to have to constantly to another house every other week.

3) Children of divorce still usually have worse outcomes, people conveniently choose to ignore this.

4) Having to deal with mom's/dad's new boyfriend/girlfriend. Enough said.

This article provides a few links to studies and it's still only a glimpse of the literature that shows divorce can be bad for kids. https://www.healthline.com/health/parenting/effects-of-divorce-on-children#risky-behavior

As someone who has dated men with kids from previous relationships, I can guarantee that the drama does not end with divorce AT ALL. Also, worth noting that I am a child of divorce myself and I have mental health issues.

Before someone says this I am obviously not talking about marriage where parents beat each other up. I am talking about non-abusive situations.

I am not judging anyone for getting divorced and in some ways, I am glad my parents got divorced, but come on....Lets not kid ourselves. It's a bad thing.
