I had a vasectomy, didn't divorce but sometimes I consider to. If you have doubts about having more children or not, just freeze some sperm. Anyways, you could always get them in vitro, it would just be painful. When I've thought about divorce and the possibility of doing this all over again, I still think the vasectomy isn't really a problem.

If you are fit or planning to be. You'll soon be dating women in their 30s who would sell their mothers in exchange for getting impregnated. So, yes, it depends on your plans, but it might be worth it.

I did post divorce. For me it was very physically painful procedure. I hear others were painless. It was a great decision. No regrets. No desire to have more kids.

I got mine about 15 years ago when our kids were little. We were done with kids. If I had known about our sex life drying up to essentially nothing I don’t know if I would have felt the rush. Abstinence is pretty damn effective. Now that marriage is looking really precarious, I’m glad I got it.

Hey let’s face it. Kids are expensive and I love my adult children. I was a deeply involved father between coaching, scouts and parenting. These are things I have never regretted.

But when I got divorced in my early 50’s there was no way I wanted to accidentally get some romantic partner pregnant. No birth control is 100%, and my ex was the one who was “fixed”in the relationship.

I did it 3 weeks after moving out and she gave me crap for it since the surgery showed on our insurance. I just laughed it off and had no worries again about a missed cycle by woman.

Just do it if you have kids already since men have no age limit on when we can a woman pregnant. Good luck.

I scheduled it, decided not to go through with it because I figured most of the women I would meet would be beyond childbearing age. I’m now 58 and meeting younger women and wish now that I had gotten the vasectomy. Do it, you have a lot of years left in the dating world.

I’ve heavily considered it myself. My kids are 11,8, and 6. I don’t want anymore of my own. It’s going to take a lot of women out of the dating pool for me (I’m 33) but I’d rather have peace at this point in my life and enjoy the kids that I do have.

I think generally its a good idea but I chickened out from mine after reading about all the ones that end with chronic pain. I suffer from chronic pain already and dont think I could handle it as another issue. My biggest concern is that all those people with issues get ignored and its hard to get help.

Absolutely. Do it. It was part of my divorce process ritual and an important step.

The procedure is no big deal, and you certainly don't want an oopsie, and you DEFINITELY don't want a cute younger gal to trap you into 18+ years of child support.

And women are generally delighted they don't have to worry about pregnancy.

And you (once tested) get to go bareback!

All incredible upsides, and zero downsides. Do it.

Mine stbx pressured me to get one when I wanted another kid, 6 months before she told me she wanted to split. I did and it kinda sucks but at this point I’ve made peace with it but wtf. Why make me do that if you’re not sticking around?

Is something I want to plan on doing I love my son to death but sadly mom and dad don’t get along and I be filing soon for divorce I wanted more kid with her but the road down the years felt like. A dictatorship I screw up also not innocent either but I feel one part of me wanna try but another part is like it’s a trap for her to trap you with money in the future she wanted kids but I told her how you want kids with someone you don’t even respect or defend or talk bad about to other people so I knew then no more kids with her. Also thought maybe with someone else but idk in marrying anymore without a pre up and post up and these days no woman will agree to that that’s why am doing a vasectomy right now and I haven’t even filed

Done 2 years before getting divorced, didn't know at the time I'd be single again in a few years but zero regrets nonetheless. I have 2 kids already, don't want any more and there are definitely women out there that wouldn't mind "accidently" getting knocked up. Nope nope nope.

I had one while still married and it did help I think narrow the dating pool for me, I was upfront with women when we got to that point and was also adamant that I didn’t want any more children. For sure it might “hurt” against women that still have dreams of having their own kids, but also, I didn’t want to date someone that wanted kids, so that helped

My fiancée loved that I had a vasectomy. She was someone who wanted to be a parent but didn’t necessarily want her own kids

Getting a vasectomy will help with your future dating life.

First, it tells the 35 to 45 year old women that you are not their last minute need a baby before menopause sperm donor. Second, the women that say they don't want children get a crazy hit of peri-menopause hormones at around 42 that make them want that last minute baby. The vasectomy will kill future arguments with that woman who suddenly changed her mind about having mid life children.

Divorced/Separated for 4 1/2yrs. Got snipped a year and a half ago. I love my kids and have no desire for more. Especially don't want to be kid-trapped by a would be girl friend looking to snare me for life with child support payments. Not Gonna Happen. Don't regret it at all.

I am 37. Got divorced at 35. Never wanted and had kids and I am sure as hell I will never want one. I will get vasectomy if I ever get into a serious relationship. Until then, the rubber is my comrade.

You don't want another kid after 40. Divorced or no, get the vasectomy.

Just make sure you go back for all the checkups to confirm that you're sterile. I had a buddy get a vasectomy and not do that. They just assumed sterile and about a month later they were expecting again.

I have done it, best decision I have made, my kids are old now and I don’t wish to go back to changing diapers , you will go thru a phase of “redemption” and having this done has been very beneficial.

I don’t have to worry about any “surprises”
