Athletic man with an average income. I make more than enough money to take care of my own financial needs. As long as his income compliments mine, rather than me fronting the bill for everything, I’m cool. But keep in mind I’m very athletic myself. Fitness is a huge component of my life so a man who does not prioritize that probably is not going to have a lot in common with me.

Not important. A guy who doesn't have time to hit the gym because he's too busy working is a lot more attractive than any gym bro. But that's coming from a woman who dated broke unambitious out-of-shape sedentary guys, so clearly, neither is a requirement. My actions speak louder.

I’m 46. I don’t care if he is rich or average, as long as I don’t have to support him. I don’t need him to be a gym rat and he can even be a little on the chubby side. I want him to be self sufficient, an equal partner, intelligent, fun, and I want to have chemistry with him.

His physical fitness is important but can be an issue if it was done in an unhealthy way, was done solely for appearances or becomes an unhealthy obsession. The same thing with money.

Very revealing comments by the ladies on this thread. But I don't think everyone is being 100% honest. I have never met a woman who respects a man if he doesn't earn enough to carry his own weight.

One of the worst things that I've seen women do - and I'm sure I'll get some flak for saying it - is that they will marry a man they are not completely in love with for the sake of financial security. This is terribly unfair and usually ends up in divorce, with the man broken and much lighter in the pocketbook. This common trend is KILLING gender relations. Men have become very wary and we are seeing the results with MGTOW and plummeting marriage rates.

On the other hand, men need to step up and become better husbands, fathers, and leaders. We can't simply blame feminism for all our woes - we have to do something about it. I believe in the history of our country, men have never been at a lower point than they are right now. It's time we regained our pride and identity, as men.

How important is physical fitness for you compared to economic success in a man?

The first is important for attraction; the second is important for relationship potential. Since I don't do casual sex, both are pretty important, but each is more of a pass/fail thing than "the more of it he has, the more I want him."

Which do you find makes you more attracted to a man?

Fitness. Money doesn't really affect how attracted I am to him, but earning potential probably affects my assessment of him as a potential partner. I've only dated people who study in a similar field to me (since it's so easy to meet them organically), so I've never really thought much about it since they're likely to have earning potentials close to mine -- which I'm perfectly fine with.

Would you rather date an out of shape rich man, or an athletic man who has an average income?

Just googled the median income in my country and it's almost exactly what my boyfriend makes (though he was making a grand total of 0€ as a student when I met him, and less than he does now when we started dating during his master's thesis), and he's not exactly a gym rat but he's pretty in shape, IMO (though he's like a girl in that he'll look at his stomach and complain he's getting fat, it's sweet; I do it too), so I'll go with athletic guy with average income.

If "out of shape" means "overweight," I'm in general not attracted to noticeably overweight people and I see no reason to compromise that hard on physical attractiveness when the alternative is a perfectly acceptable one.

I'd probably go for the rich guy (or be single, but assuming that's not an option) if my only other option was an athletic guy who was dirt-poor.

I don't think a rich dude is going to be interested in me anyway, I am a pretty boring regular person leading a pretty non special life which I am content with. So average dude who likes to be active works for me.

I'll assume that "out of shape" is proxy for "gross" and "athletic" is proxy for "hot." In real life I've seen some dad-bod guys who still managed to be sexy, and some athletic guys who didn't quite make it.

Athletic man with average income. You didn't even make this hard by saying that he's super-poor and needs me to support him.

If I want to be comfortably well-off in this day and age, I can make that happen myself. Strongly suspect that it would be worse having to be affectionate and sexual with a man I wasn't into, every day, than working a white collar job. Plus, I would never feel like I truly deserved the money and status.

Edit: I'm 31. In fact this was exactly what I chose when I met my husband four years ago, as I had plenty of older, apparently moneyed men messaging me as well, and ignored them.

Wow...it appears I am in the minority here which greatly surprises me. I would take a fat rich man over an average earner with washboard abs. Money and power turn me on way more than a low body fat percentage ever could. Neither one has chance though if they have garbage for a personality and limited interpersonal skills. A fat bank account or a six pack will never be enough for me to love someone.

Economic success dosent matter to me i look for a man that is genetically fit have good bone structure and high iq that can pass on to our children Anyone who says women value money more than looks is just coping with the fact that they dont have a good genetic makeup The fact is even if a short 5'3 guy is a milionar i wouldnt be with him also bald guys are a turn off too You can always improve your looks and money adds an extra 1 or 2 points (depending) to your smv Also another myth that men reach their peak at 40 No women look for fertility testosteron declines at 35 so the peak is around 30 i guess If you have nothing to offer exept money u will attract gold diggers thats all i will say that 60 percent is looks 30 percent money and 10 percent mental heath like if the person is a psychopath or has some issues

Healthy man my own age. Now and always. I have my own money. That said, no scrubs. No lazy guys, no fat guys. Not dumb, underemployed or boring guys. No poor guys without intentions to do something with their life, but average income is fine.

I'm 26. I'm lucky to date in a circle where having money is a given, so I think fitness is even more emphasized for me because I have to differentiate the men somehow? I don't see any men as out of my league.

A good combo of both. I can be okay with a guy who’s more average looking (eg. a “dad bod”, about 5’7”, etc) if he makes at least $60K a year. I make about $51K on my own accord. In the end, what I care the most is compatibility over anything else.

I don’t want a super model-like dude (a “Chad” or “Tyrone”) because I know he won’t eat most of my food (I’m from the Hispanic Caribbean so I’m big on cooking) nor a guy who makes so much money but also slaves in an office over 80 hours a week and thus won’t have time for me.

I’m 30, btw. I thought my current man might had cheated of me and that’s why I’ve been looking for a replacement but he might be “innocent” after all.

I grew up in a low income area and then I was accepted on scholarship to a private college full of extremely rich students (family had multiple houses in multiple countries, played with 10s of thousands of dollars on the stock market as fun at 18, I even knew a girl that owned a $250,000 horse). My point is I’ve seen and dated the gamut of money versus looks. The guy I married was the one who made me laugh.

What makes you think either of those types of men want anything to do with you? Once you get with a super rich guy, you'll get bored with him and want a physically fit guy. And vice versa. You women only want what you can't/don't have.
