Everyone's heard the stereotype that men and women can't be just friends. Everyone's heard the stereotype that men only befriend women in order to get their pants. Men also noticeably agree with these stereotypes more than women, saying women shouldn't be surprised when that guy who said he "just wants to be friends" turns out to have ulterior motives.

So, if you were a woman, would you ever want to have platonic male friends? And before a bunch of you inevitably say "yeah free money/dinner/swag lol", would you ever want to legitimately be a man's friend for the sake of being his friend? A friend who you could hang out with at his place and play videogames, go barhopping with, or do whatever other platonic activities you do with your guy friends as a man now?

Keep in mind that the stereotypes now apply to you too - that there's a chance your guy friends will "shoot their shot" and then cut off all contact forever when you reject them no matter how close you thought you two were or how close your interests align. Or that they'll get more aggressive and/or violent, shooting their shot or not. Being female won't give you mind reading powers to let you know the guys who really does want to be your friend from the guys using friendship as a means to an end with 100% certainty.
