The only useful thing I’ve ever heard these coaches say is to go No Contact after a breakup. Sadly it’s geared towards GeTtInG yOuR eX bAcK, but having done it (both the no contact and the ex back) if you do it right it changes you for the better (in my case I never really believed in my relationship again and almost a year to the date of reconciliation it imploded again for good).

But the cold turkey, cut off, focus ruthlessly on the pursuit of your own goals is a great strategy. Even if the initial cope is to stick it to your ex for the first 30 days, by the end of it you come out feeling more serene and on top. I wish more legit sources would advocate no contact - even if you ultimately aim to be cordial someday there is zero need for you to stay in the life of sometime who dumped you to help then wean off of you.

I decided a while ago that I wouldn’t date anyone without being friends first. If I’m not good enough for friendship then why would you want to date me? I weeded out so many guys that way who pretended to be interested but were really only after quick sex so that they could suddenly realize they didn’t see a future together (I assume). Also you find these gems who say they don’t want female friends, or they “have enough friends already.” Those are code for, “I don’t see women as human beings.”

I found a couple guys who were actually interested in me as a human being- would do stuff like eating lunch together, watching a movie, going to the park etc. and just enjoying each other’s company as human beings. I know this isn’t really what this sub preaches, the platonic dates, but for me it was a way to see that we actually enjoyed each other’s company without the possibility of sex. It’s how I met my husband. It’s what I would do again if I somehow woke up in an alternate reality and was single and trying to get married.

Why as a dating coach would you encourage your clients to get laid on a first date? Even if you do, why would you display that out in the open?

I don't even think all the advice is trash (and in fact reminds me of FDS - devote your resources to a high quality mate) but when he prefaces it with scoring on the first date, it makes everything else so slimey.
