I have a story about this

This woman who was friends with my friend proposed to her boyfriend one year into the relationship, the boyfriend was 30 and she was 24 maybe, anyways he accepts and they’re engaged and guess what it’s been 5 years and they’re still not married 😂😂😂😂

And I remember when she told us she was gonna propose to him and I politely said good for you (I didn’t know what else to say), and she used it as an excuse to give a lecture to all of us about how “women shouldn’t be praised for proposing and that it should be equality/feminist bs” I can’t recall but she was really annoyed by my comment and she was super up herself

Like relax Taybah, Mo still ain’t married your ass even tho you moved in with him and cook and clean for him XD

And get this at the time the bf worked at currys and she was completing her masters for teaching, and to top it all, my friend (mentioned above) told me that the bf Mo slid into her dms and tried flirting with her

I feel bad for her. I used to be the one in my relationship who would always nag for things to be taken to the next step. If it doesn’t come naturally or if you’re the one doing everything… then sis… he just isn’t that into you. You’re a placeholder. I’m sorry it sucks to hear, even if he’s a 2 and you’re a 10, you’re holding a place for another woman - one that he will actually work for. Or there may not be one good enough in his eyes, actually. Part of me thinks living together before the commitment of marriage is a bad idea and part of me thinks it's a good idea. Their true colors come out in that first year of living together...that the house takes care of itself and all free time (not at work) is his time (riding off into the sunset with his mountain bike buddies). Sure, occasionally he'd clean the gutters, but that's a once or twice a year task...what about the rest of the housework? (Answer: it didn't exist). What about my free time? (What's that? Aren't you tied at the hip with the baby?)

That's embarrassing she is actually hyping herself up through self-talk to do something that she knows is BS because she's making her excuses and rationalizations for it in her post. How can you propose to a man? You can't even share that you're getting married because it's embarrassing. You can't say he proposed to me. You can't tell anyone how shocked or surprised you were or how lovely it was or how beautiful the proposal was. You would literally have to keep all that a secret otherwise it's just an embarrassment. No man is going to say... Oh my God she popped the question and I said yes!!!
