Rush Limbaugh displays the tiniest glimmer of sadness over dying from cancer and is berated for doing so. Men should be able to express their emotions, and being socially demonized by doing so even when faced with your own death is a problem.
I think ‘toxic masculinity’ sounds offensive because it implies there is something toxic about being masculine. I think what it should be instead is ‘toxic associations with masculinity’. The toxic thing being people’s expectation that someone can’t be masculine and also expressive at the same time. Or that you’re ‘forfeiting’ some of your masculinity in doing so, which you’re not.
What do you think? Why do you dislike the phrase ‘toxic masculinity’?
I think you are intentionally interpreting it that way. There's masculinity and then there's a toxic variant which perpetuates itself through macho men stereotypes where men don't cry, or feel pain and are stoic, etc. etc.
The entire idea that men should be sole providers for a family, that they shouldn't feel too much/show emotions, be the stronger one always, are entitled to women's bodies etc. are what people mean when they mention toxic masculinity.
Masculinity isn't bad. Being an arsehole is (and some of the older ideas about masculinity propagate this).
A lot of people bring up men's mental health issues and ask why would men be suffering from mental issues if the current social structure (the P word you guys hate so much) favours them. The reason, funnily enough, is toxic ideas of masculinity (which go hand in hand with patriarchal bullshit) where reaching out for help is seen as weak.
(Plus, here in India - and I'm sure in several other counties - the social stigma attached to mental health. It's a double whammy - society anyway used to frown on acknowledging it and then the standards of "being a man" make some believe that having issues and seeking help for them is "unmanly".)
If you're specifically referencing masculinity and not the social expectations of men, then it would make sense to apply the term 'toxic masculinity' to both men and women. The problem is that this term is only ever applied to men. "Toxic gender expectations for men" makes more sense (although its definitely a mouthful).
True. It’s not ‘masculinity is toxic’. It’s ‘toxic masculinity’ as a variant of masculinity.
I think you could very well also say there is a brand of ‘toxic femininity’ - say, women being too passive, obsequious or pandering. The feminism movement also tries to change women’s ingrained gender stereotypes and damaging behaviours too, but doesn’t blame the women for them. Ie. women have the right to choose to be passive but are encouraged to be strong.
As a man I agree with your comments. However I have less sympathy for rush Limbaugh. He’s been a gas lighting asshole for 20 years. You can’t attack people and be an ass your whole career and then want sympathy and compassion when it suits you.
This motherfucker is the same cunt that berated Michael J Fox claiming he exaggerated his Parkinson's disease when he went public with it. And now he wants the same sympathy he denied others? Fuck off lmfao
Wasn't when he went public. It was for an appearance in a Democrat Senate race advertisement for a candidate that supports stem cell research.
He admitted he was wrong the next day. He said he came to that conclusion because in MJF's book he admitted to not taking his medication before. Senate Hearing so as to dramatize/highlight his symptoms. Rush said he jumped to a conclusion and it was 100% wrong of him. Doctors later theorized that his medication can often make the side effects of the disease worse and that was most likely what was seen on camera in the ad.
Yep. Hey I'm totally on board with anyone wanting to cry or express emotion. I will still respect his pain as sometimes you don't learn until you look death in the face how wrong you were. However, he was an asshole to a lot of people unnecessarily.
And you forget he smoked like a chimney...the #1 cause of cancer. In a party that (rightly) pushes for personal responsibility...he literally caused his own death.
Yeah I came here to say this. I agree with OP's overall point, but I expect in this case it has more do to with Rush Limbaugh and his history and reputation. People hate him.
And how many times has he been the proponent of such ideas? Telling others to "man up" over physically or emotionally debilitating diseases? Screw Limbaugh in particular
Except some people will actively steal from you and poison the well behind them when you help. You can't be good to evil bigoted people. Life is tough, be good to good people.
For eighty five years my grandfather was the person you're describing. About a year before he died he confided in me that I was right, "black folks are just as good as white folks." It took him spending every other morning for more than a year at a dialysis center that was mostly staffed by "black folks."
I hope that I never lose faith in my fellow human's ability to become better.
No I think what he means to say is that we sometimes forget that there's a path that troubled people go down. and then they get lost in that path and no one sees their humanity and so they regress more into their ways. I agree what he said was wrong, but I do have some sympathy for him. Not enough to the point of where he's spewing racist shit, but still. Idk maybe I'm just too much of a fool.
I think I may have been misunderstood. I don’t disagree with the hatred. I don’t disagree with sending a message that his special brand of BS shouldn’t be tolerated. But denying people their own humanity isn’t the way to do it.
Show everyone we’re better than that.
Amber Heard is a domestic abuser and horrible stain on humanity. That is an incontrovertible fact. But it is not up to me to turn my back on another human, nor should it be on anyone else.
Be the better person in all things and if at the end of the day we have to die on our sword fighting for men’s rights know that we did it honourably.
The two things being said here don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's possible to say he has spent his life preaching toxic attitudes and encouraging some of the worst behavior in humanity and also say I can see why what he's going through would be tough for anyone. You can identify that the lack of sympathy he's receiving is a result of extolling and encouraging that attitude and surrounding himself with like minded people and point out that the lack of sympathy is a direct result of his past choices and still not wish anyone to go through with it. We're against the hateful things he has said because it results in what he's going through. We can sympathize with what he's going through and say this is why we are against the hateful and toxic things he's spent his career saying. If we're okay with him having a lack of support through this tough time, we're okay with the message he's been spreading for the last few decades. I'm not okay with his hateful attitude, it's wrong even when directed at the person who has been preaching it. I can both appreciate the irony and be sad that his message has been so successful that people are following his example towards him. I wish he wasn't experiencing the response he got because that would mean he was ineffective. Sadly it shows he was very effective and that's not something to be pleased about.
Better to show others, including children, that we should turn our backs on those that have shown the ability to be the disgusting people in society we wish didn't exist.
I'm under the conclusion that the "disgusting people" happen to be conservatives and those like him.. So let me fix your sentence for you to make it more how I read it.
"Better to show others, including children, that we should turn our backs on those that have shown the ability to be the disgusting jews in society we wish didn't exist."
"Better to show others, including children, that we should turn our backs on those that have shown the ability to be the disgusting conservatives in society we wish didn't exist."
Now does it make more sense... Now go eat a bowl of dicks you nazi.
Just because you can change a sentence's noun doesn't make it true or equivalent. We, as a society, have a general rule for the behavior we will tolerate from an individual. This is not equal to telling lies about GROUPS of people. Unless you are saying that I'm telling lies about Rush Limbaugh being a disgusting person. In which case, that is a reasonable argument (in contrast with your current trash) and I'd be happy to debate that with you.
Yeah I think the thing that makes it toxic masculinity rather than just Rush hate is the "leave the stage with dignity" thing, implying that showing emotion as a man is not dignified.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he being mocked because he said for years that smoking doesn't cause lung cancer and now he's dying of lung cancer due to his excessive smoking?
It's one thing to mock him for being wrong about something, it's entirely different to mock someone for expressing their feelings while dying from cancer.
I think it's important to not let Rush Limbaugh set our moral standards. It's not okay that he was a piece of shit but he is a human being and I think it is a good thing to have empathy for his suffering.
You obviously don't know anything about Rush Limbaugh, just another uneducated troglodyte who thinks his opinion is worth something.
I guarantee you've never listened to Rush Limbaughs show in your entire life and formulated this opinion based on what Salon, Vox, CNN, or NYT told you to think about him.
Rush just spent 50 years tearing down social progress, fomenting violence against minorities and destroying democracy.
sounds like a pretty powerful guy. wow.
I quite literally jumped for Joy when I heard he had cancer
that's a sign that you probably have some mental problems and need help. Being that consumed by hatred for some talk show host is not healthy. Like, the things that have made me happy enough to "jump for joy" are actual important things in my life, important moments or milestones with family and friends, not "some political commentator I don't like got cancer". How sad for you.
I guarantee you've never listened to Rush Limbaughs
Wrong, as your kind always is. I was my mother's caretaker before she passed and unfortunately he was one of her favorite radio hosts and I had to listen to him all the time and I had to slowly watch him radicalize my mother with hateful right-wing white supremacist propaganda.
your opinionfrom Salon, Vox, CNN, or NYT...
It's funny how all of you right wing propaganda puppets sound exactly the same. Unlike you, I know how to think critically and parse information.
lol I can just smell the derision. "my kind" huh? how ominous.
I had to slowly watch him radicalize my mother with hateful right-wing white supremacist propaganda.
quote me Rush Limbaugh being a white supremacist. I'll wait.
It's funny how all of you right wing propaganda puppets sound exactly the same.
right back atcha sunshine. muh rush limbaugh, muh FOX news, muh Rupert Murdoch, muh Koch Brothers. But keep enjoying your oh-so objective journalisming performed by all the objective journalists who only ever fact-check and always just tell facts.
Nah I'm good. You're pathetic though.
you don't sound good dawg. LITERALLY jumping for joy because some political commentator got cancer is a really disturbing sign. Like I can't imagine hearing that say, Rachel Maddow or Don Lemon announced they got cancer, and me LITERALLY jumping for joy. I can't imagine the mental state I'd have to be in for that to happen. Call me pathetic all you want, but I've never done that lol
But keep enjoying your oh-so objective journalisming
Thanks, I will. Because when I go to my news stations and I look at the information for the people that work for them they actually have degrees in things like journalism, international relations, political science and data science.
When you do the exact same thing on the Fox News website everyone is listed as a pundit or talk show host, lol. It's right on their site, stupid. Not a journalist or actual professional or scientist to be found.
Or would you rather me get my information from something more palatable to you, like welovetrump.com?
I'm sorry that my internationally and worldwide recognized, objective news outlets aren't good enough for you, Mr anything-against-trump-is-wrong.
I can't imagine hearing Rachel Maddow or Don Lemon announced they got cancer, and me LITERALLY jumping for joy
Well of course not silly, because Rachel Maddow and Don Lemon are normal human beings, who have not been pushing white supremacist and authoritarian 1%''er ideologies and outright made up, fabricated lies for decades.
imagine thinking that having a degree in journalism means someone is objective lol.
and yeah, FOX is at least open about many of their hosts being biased opinion commentators. Fools like Chris Cuomo, Anderson Cooper, Brooke Baldwin, Don Lemon, Wolf Blitzer, etc. put themselves forward as being just unbiased objective journalists who just report the facts of the story. Meanwhile they're just as biased as any FOX news anchor.
Not a journalist or actual professional or scientist to be found.
so you're either lying, or just lazy to look it up.
that's just three I pulled out in 5 seconds of looking. So this claim of yours that fox hosts don't have degrees in journalism-related fields and aren't "professional" is absurd and incorrect.
I'm sorry that my internationally and worldwide recognized, objective news outlets aren't good enough for you, Mr anything-against-trump-is-wrong.
k first of all, since you've devolved into "everyone who disagrees with me must love Trump", I was a never trumper in 2016. Thought he was a terrible candidate for the GOP to pick. But I get that "lol you like Trump" is a convenient boogeyman for anyone arguing against you.
Well of course not silly, because Rachel Maddow and Don Lemon are normal human beings, who have not been pushing white supremacist and authoritarian 1%''er ideologies
you still haven't shown me quotes from Limbaugh being a white supremacist. Should be easy, right?
Same. The past few years have taught me a lot about myself, such as the hatred I am capable of possessing and the corresponding perspective changes that come along with that. Me 8 years ago would have been disgusted by anyone celebrating the misfortune of others, no matter who, because of some arbitrary moral standard that I felt I had to hold myself to. Me, when he was diagnosed, also jumped for joy. Fuck him, I hope every day he has left is terrible.
McCain was labeled a racist when he ran against Obama.
Romney was made fun of over his religion when he ran against Obama.
Trump was labeled a Nazi when he ran against Clinton, and for the past 4 years because he won. This is despite condemning white supremacists repeatedly and having several Jews in his family, and winning the Ultra Orthodox Jewish vote.
Do you really want to make the argument that it is fair?
Obama defended drone striking a kid by blaming Bush and is directly responsible for an increase in slavery in the world.
The Clintons are corrupt pieces of shit that had their inner circle all arrested and unlike Trump they DID pardon them.
Biden sexually assaulted a secret service agents wife, and sexually harassed female agents, and loves every war he has ever seen (but Trump is the one going to get us into war, despite increasing peace in the Middle East and being the first president in decades to not get us into a major war).
Biden and Harris both have a racist past, that shows that they hate poor blacks.
If you want to argue fairness the right should spend the next 4 years claiming the Biden presidency is illegitimate and due to cheating and use that as a reason to do nothing. And if crisis happens the Republicans should shove partisan legislation into relief and when Dems cave due to looking bad for not passing it because the media is dishonest about why... Proceed to say its too late and not enough.
Funny because the husband was suspended for pushing him over it happening, as well as his swimming naked around the female agents, and he has had dozens of complaints about his touching women over the years.
Funny how damn near all of Trumps accusers shut up once he was elected, and multiple recanted and had their own friends and family say they were lying.
Also fuck off with the BS snowflake comment, you have claimed to be an indentured servant because you need to work for a living.
He mocked them about cancer and death? I don't think so. There are some things you just don't do. Just because you didn't like him doesn't justify shitty behavior, I'm personally indifferent towards him.
Also spiteful behavior is exactly what makes the world worse.
Like I said, it's fine if you don't have sympathy but no one deserves to be mocked like that.
Also ask yourself if Rush had been a woman would people or you still act like this? I'm betting not.
He literally spread bullshit that smoking does not cause cancer and in so doing endangered peoples lives, this is not to even mention his long, long history of ensuing people couldn’t get healthcare and stoking the flames of war, shilling for Iraq in which a million people are now dead
He also said Michael J Fox was putting on his parkinsons and was 'shamelessly acting'
The age old adage is “treat others how you want to be treated.” He’s shown us exactly how he wants to be treated. People shouldn’t be demonized for doing exactly what he wanted.
Yep definitely, the fact that his past makes you lose the ability to empathize with a guy who’s going through stage 4 means that you’re not that different from him. N.B: I’m clueless as to who he is, I don’t care either. I’m just saying if you have a difficulty empathizing with someone who’s sad because they’re gonna die, you’re probably not a good person, no matter what they did in the past or how bad it is.
No actually he deserves exactly to be mocked, I'm literally going to send a card to I'm laughing at them if I can find out where he's staying when he's in the hospital
Fantastic example of "toxic masculinity" here. No, you can't be sad that you're dying. Don't know who Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage are and I don't care, this attitude is a large part of what we stand against. [Unless it's convenient of course. /s]
Okay that's just bullshit. You, and the others coming here to brigade this sub, are literally berating us for expressing our emotions about Limbaugh. If your empathy for him is valid, so is our disdain.
It's funny that the only people saying s*** like this are people who have no idea who Rush Limbaugh is, he literally spent 50 years fomenting violence against minorities and destroying democracy and spreading outright GOP propaganda and Russian propaganda, and radicalizing Millions upon millions of elderly people.
As someone who's been a practicing Buddhist for 20 years: go fuck yourself if you're defending rush. I wish I could laugh and smile in his face as he sits in his hospital bed.
As someone who knows that Karma is a huge part of your religion, you should be ashamed of yourself for wishing you could do this. Your political group is just as bad, trust me.
You're a simpleton, first of all Buddhism is not a religion.
your political group is just as bad trust me
I have forgotten more about this subject than you have ever known. You do not know what you are talking about and history and facts directly oppose what you say here.
The guys that are saying election fraud has occurred...after they lost... just fired the director of election crime investigations( to be technical he resigned because Bill Barr released a memo going against 60 years of doj tradition, calling for federal prosecutors to look for instances of voting fraud. If you read the actual memo it's quite obvious the tone is that they better find something) ...
this is after they just spent four years packing the courts, including stealing a SC seat from obama and giving 3 to trump... and trump supporting zombies don't see why that's an issue...
Trump has eliminated essentially the entire civilian Pentagon leadership in the last couple of days, and other people in more obscure positions, Namely, Lisa Gordon-Hagerty, administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration.
Oh yea. Trump is likely going to fire Chris Krebs in the next couple days, the head of us cybersecurity. And he's already talked about firing the head of the CIA but top officials including Republicans have pushed back against that. He likely still will.
The U.S. government's top cybersecurity official has told people that he expects the White House to fire him, three people familiar with the situation told POLITICO, as the Trump administration continues a purge of officials deemed disloyal to the president. Chris Krebs, the director of the Department of Homeland Security's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, is in the White House's crosshairs in part because of a website he created to debunk election-related misinformation — much of which President Donald Trump and other Republican Party leaders have embraced as they seek to undermine the legitimacy of President-elect Joe Biden's victory.
At the same time Bill Barr has been making some unprecedented moves in the last couple of days. Richard Pilger, the country's top election crime investigator, was essentially forced to resign.
Pretty fucking scary if you're paying attention.
So mark my words we are about to lose the head of us cybersecurity and the head of the CIA.
Ah yes, I'm so glad you took the time to write all that, just for me to ignore it all and skip to the end and say...you suck. Take your new account and shove it where the sun don't shine, skippy.
While I agree that he doesn't deserve his sympathy, I don't think it would be beneficial to start acting the same way that he did. Stooping down to his level ultimately will bite you in the ass too. While a part of me is happy that he is suffering, I don't think it's right to celebrate that he is dying. This is the kind of fuel that his supporters will use to feed the fire that Rush Limbaugh has started.
But ironically speaking, this is once proof that the Men Rights Movement is indeed not a Conservative Movement and has many Liberal or perhaps politically moderate supporters.
But this is ultimately the reason he's being berated. That is, his opponents say, "But he's just so bad and my cause is just so noble, that nothing is off-limits in my crusade".
People want to fight fire with fire, closely related to the philosophy that two wrongs make a right. In this case, I think it's more valuable to empathize as one would with any other person.
Men's lib use of the term "toxic masculinity" as an actual thing and not pseudo scientific propaganda gets me every time.
How is it that feminists with a straight face gets away with promoting that sub as proper channel for men? It's akin to religious people promoting scientology as an alternative to psychological treatment.
It’s because a lot of second wave feminists haven’t fully embraced intersectionality and recognized men’s issues. We group all feminists together. First wave, second, and third. Same with men’s rights activists. The incels, red pillers , and PUAs get all grouped in with the men just trying to fight for their rights. Those two groups will always ideologically be against one another until everyone is on the same page.
I know it's not a popular opinion, but if they'd stay and listen that would be fine. Well, maybe annoying for us, but good for them to see something outside their echo chamber.
I hate to burst your bubble but I don’t think they’re here to listen.
You gotta get into to the mindset of these people. Just from the comment you made, I understand that you think like a rational person. People like these don’t know what it’s like to have an open mind, or even understand the POV of a different opinion, let alone consider it.
I find that sub really stupid. Disregarding the context of who it is, they blame toxic masculinity for this. Yes, there are men who attempt to say that men should always be strong but in my experience it’s mostly women who perpetuate it. Not to say that all women do it, not to call it toxic feminity: it’s outdated societal standards. It’s not the average mans fault, and yet they blame the average man: with his “toxic masculinity.”
It's not outdated. Women evolved not to empathize with men. There were evolutionary advantages to it that no longer come into play, but they still can't empathize with men.
Why would you bring focus to women here exactly? You even said "in my experience" meaning you know there are other ways to look at this situation. I can understand not liking the term toxic masculinity but you're close to starting a whataboutism argument and for what?
I'm not bringing the focus to women. I'm taking the focus off of men. My point is to outline the fact that it is societal standards that are imposed and upheld by both men and women, so defining this problem as just a product of "toxic masculinity" is flat out wrong.
Agreed. Specifically he, Rush Limbaugh, doesn’t get a sympathy pass.
It’s like, should we have sympathy for the worst people in the world? Maybe a shred if you’re the easily sympathetic type, but for everyone else - nah. Not for him.
I mean, let’s not piss on his grave or anything, but he lost any chance for sympathy many years ago.
Bringing completely irrelevant info about the person you're replying to attempting to invalidate what they definitely makes you the most pathetic person in this thread. If you think liking things like Star Wars and/or Pokemon are what makes a person pathetic then you're obviously just an arrogant asshole, and a major one for judging them for also having an issue they're working to deal with.
If you actually knew what you were talking about and weren't just spreading baseless misinformation like a retard you would know the average age of redditors is about 26
Well don’t make it seem like you like him because damn these redditors fucking hate him idek why, he gets a lot of sound bites of him taken out of context
It’s not toxic masculinity, because we all know that’s not a thing.
It’s not male disposability either. Public figures are often praised and vilified by their actions, plenty of people will mourn for Rush, plenty of people won’t. Regardless of how you feel about him, he was clearly a divisive figure.
But more to the point of the post, that his fellow talk show host urged him to “leave the stage with dignity”, that is a toxic gender role.
It stems from the belief that men should be strong, and that sadness is a weakness. It’s a belief that’s perpetuated by both men and women, and though liberals claim to be about dismantling antiquated gender roles, in reality it’s both sides of American politics that continues to shit on men and pander towards women.
Everyone has the right to feel sadness as they are confronted with the grim reality of death. Just be mindful of how you’ve publicly treated the ill in the past when you go fishing for sympathy.
As an aside: I’ve always found it sort of strange that the party of small government and personal responsibility is somehow surprised when publicly despicable figures are held accountable for their actions. Likewise, it really rustles my jimmies when someone claims to be liberal and is openly calling for the death and misery of their enemies.
It stems from the belief that men should be strong, and that sadness is a weakness.
I haven't paid much attention to this thread so far (in part because I had no goddamn clue who Rush Limbaugh was) but isn't what you described here just... toxic masculinity?
Isn't it exactly what the thing's about, though? That being masculine is to be strong, to be without emotions, to be an unshakeable rock in a stormy sea?
it’s also a stereotype perpetuated by women into men.
That... doesn't necessarily mean it isn't toxic masculinity? It's a societal thing, not necessarily applied only by men onto other men. Just like how feminists complain about body image issues that are also perpetuated by other women.
“Toxic masculinity” is a nonsense term that few people agree upon
“Toxic masculinity” is a feminist doublespeak slur, used to shame “traditional” male traits while excluding women from any culpability or similarities. Funny how there is no “toxic femininity”, when women perpetuate harmful stereotypes about men it’s somehow still toxic masculinity. There’s also no “positive masculinity” to counterbalance the proposition either.
Gender theory academics may claim to have a hold on the term, yet it’s very clearly used by feminist writers to hurl pejoratives at John Doe, an imaginary toxic male that all other males should uniformly be ashamed of.
The doublespeak kicks in immediately whenever a man takes offense at the term. “It’s not referring to you, you know” or “you shouldn’t feel offended unless you’re toxic”, implying that taking offense from a pejorative term is somehow admission of “being one of the bad ones”.
Try listening to men when you’re lecturing them about their masculinity. Many of us don’t like “toxic masculinity”, so we choose not to use the term at all. You wouldn’t keep calling someone a fag if they took offense, so why argue in favor of a term people find offensive?
There’s also no “positive masculinity” to counterbalance the proposition either.
Have you read any of the three links I posted? They go over that.
You wouldn’t keep calling someone a fag if they took offense, so why argue in favor of a term people find offensive?
I feel when a term has apparently been horribly misunderstood by part of the population, it might be worth trying to show them what the term means instead of trying to find another way of saying the same thing.
Didn’t fucking work for global warming. Sometimes you have to bend to the audience and rebrand to language that can all be agreed upon. “Climate Change” is the new term, doesn’t confuse the dummies.
Likewise, “toxic gender roles” is a superior term to “toxic masculinity” because it’s more descriptive, can be applied to evenly to multiple genders, and doesn’t offend anyone.
The concept of toxic masculinity is used in academic and media discussions of masculinity to refer to certain cultural norms that are associated with harm to society and to men themselves. Traditional stereotypes of men as socially dominant, along with related traits such as misogyny and homophobia, can be considered "toxic" due in part to their promotion of violence, including sexual assault and domestic violence. The socialization of boys in patriarchal societies often normalizes violence, such as in the saying "boys will be boys" with regard to bullying and aggression. Self-reliance and emotional repression are correlated with increased psychological problems in men such as depression, increased stress, and substance abuse.
People like him only display a shred of humanity and empathy in dire or other extreme circumstances. If he wasn’t dying, he’d be his same ol shitty self. So forgive us if we roll our eyes at people like him once their ass is on the line.
Probably because he's one of the biggest sacks of shit in america and has been spreading lies and right wing propaganda for 40 years now, he's largely responsible for how divorced from reality the right wing base has become.
Some people have suggested that this post might be getting brigaded from people in the cross-posted MensLib post. I am guessing that is what is happening because a lot of these comments are pretty out of line compared to what I normally see on this sub.
These people don't even realize how much of a product they are of the cultural partisan smear. They have no idea why they hate him. Maybe it's his voice or the cigars he smokes.
Or maybe it's the phenomenal hatred he spewed daily for decades. He made millions off it, while destroying American politesse. You are a product of this POS.
My guess is that you are completely uninformed and just working off of what you've heard in your echo chamber. If I asked you for examples of this daily hatred, would you provide them, or would you insult me?
It's perfectly understandable. Trump will get the same response. You can't shit on everything decent and humane about half the population of America for years and expect to get any sympathy when it's your turn to suffer.
The fact Rush is dying breaks my heart..And the fact he can't be sad about it makes me sick..I see a lot of feminazis bitch about men having more rights, and I end up asking them how is that true? Not being able to express your emotions like we can, having no abuse shelters specifically for men,or support groups,or man appreciation days, more men dying by suicide or job related accidents, men going to jail over abuse that was done by a female,is not more rights,it's a seriously LACKING amount of rights. I was wanting to one day be a congresswoman, the "metoo"/feminist movement would be labeled a hate group. This antimale crap needs to stop
Obama is a massive piece of shit that in response to it being discovered he ordered a kid to be killed... blamed Bush for giving him the power to do so at his discretion. Omar is an anti-Semite and so is Blasio. Biden never saw a war he didn't like, and touched a secret service member's wife inappropriately as well as sexually harassed the female agents.
It is about politics.
If Obama was a republican the same people that idolize him would call him a child killer. FFS it took Romney being the sole Republican to vote for impeachment to get people to drop making fun of him over his religion and its "magic underwear".
Trump is an asshole and the media has constantly misrepresented the great people on both sides comment. However, other people on the right that have been vilified have done far less than people on the left that are praised. Romney by all accounts is a good person. Hell McCain was vilified and labeled a racist while running against Obama, and even when serving under Obama and after he defended Obama from unjust attacks was still vilified by some outlets. Multiple Dems that were openly extremely racist in the past have never been held accountable and it is ignored by those on the left.
It is about politics. The people that are celebrating and happy about I can 100% guarantee over 90% are on the left. People tend to be less harsh critics of the assholes that share their political views and are more forgiving of their faults. Meanwhile those of opposing views they are extremely harsh towards in comparison, and far less willing to forgive.
and lemme guess, you think he's a "giant asshole" because.....?
Like I said. this is just standard behavior. I mean, it's practically mainstream to wish death upon Donald Trump "because he's totally evil".
who would be Limbaughs equivalent on the left? Wolf Blitzer? Anderson Cooper? Cenk Uyger (lol)? I think they're assholes, so is it cool if I wish death on them and mock them if/when they die?
I mean if that's the game we're playing, fair enough I guess.
He’s a vile racist who spews and spreads hate of all kinds. He has contributed very little good and a whole lot of evil to the world. Doesn’t matter who he votes for or endorses. The man is evil and has made the country and the world a worse place because if his actions, and he deserves to have his own horrible comments haunt him wherever he goes, including to the grave and beyond.
I think Joe Biden is a racist who spews hate and has contributed very little good and a whole lot of evil. he supported the iraq war, supported Obama's drone-strike murders, made racist comments on many occasions, has a weird affinity for sniffing women and groping children, and the world is a worse place because of his actions.
therefore, you should be fine if I wish death on Joe Biden and cheer if/when he gets sick and dies a painful death? no sympathy for creepy uncle Joe, right? is that an acceptable position for me to take?
I mean, if we're going to play that game, fair enough, as long as it's consistent for everyone and not just "people YOU think are bad are ok to mock for dying, but people I think are bad are off-limits"
Not equivalent. Not even close. Biden has also done a lot of good, like manage the economic recovery act that kept millions out of poverty and rescued our economy, or sponsoring the violence against women act to prevent domestic violence. Please name any amount of good that Rush did that helped millions of people or in any way offset the detriment he caused to our society.
I think being responsible for genocide is pretty close lol.
Biden has also done a lot of good, like manage the economic recovery act that kept millions out of poverty and rescued our economy
giving Biden credit for "muh economy" is a bit weak. Especially while he was overseeing a government that drone-bombed the living daylights out of tons of countries and started various wars in the middle east.
Please name any amount of good that Rush did that helped millions of people or in any way offset the detriment he caused to our society.
sorry but whatever "detriment to society" Limbaugh has caused, it doesn't reach the level of "dropping bombs on weddings in foreign countries" or "starting wars in foreign countries that result in genocide, civil war, slavery, and horrific amounts of suffering". What, Limbaugh said some words on the radio? what, he said some words you don't like, said some things you think are mean or bad or even evil?
how many people did that kill, and is it less or more than the number killed at an Iraqi wedding that gets a hellfire missile dropped on it?
portraying Biden as some hero who saved the economy and helped millions of people is really laughable. the guy was a seat-filler for Obama.
So Obama’s decisions are now Biden’s to take the credit/blame for, but Biden also gets zero credit for the committees/programs/bills that he actually oversaw as senator and VP? You are more than grasping at straws here.
If you want to know the damage that Rush Limbaugh has caused, just look at the rise in right wing propaganda in this country and the violence and chaos that has resulted. He’s as responsible as Rupert Murdoch for unleashing the Alex Jones’, and Q Anons, and other racist/misogynistic violent extremist media in the US that have turned the right wing of our country into the American Taliban and added to the recruitment and violence of the alt-right, proud boys, and other neo-nazi groups who are both perpetrating violent hate crimes and fomenting a civil war.
So Obama’s decisions are now Biden’s to take the credit/blame for, but Biden also gets zero credit for the committees/programs/bills that he actually oversaw as senator and VP? You are more than grasping at straws here.
hey, you choose man. if you wanna give Biden credit for some bill that got passed 10 years ago, he's also gotta take the blame for drone-bombing brown kids in the middle east.
If you want to know the damage that Rush Limbaugh has caused, just look at the rise in right wing propaganda in this country
k that's still not war or genocide
He’s as responsible as Rupert Murdoch for unleashing the Alex Jones’, and Q Anons, and other racist/misogynistic violent extremist media in the US that have turned the right wing of our country into the American Taliban
but AntiFa are just an idea right? a grassroots peaceful protest movement? gimme a break. Saying that Rush Limbaugh is MORE EVIL than Joe Biden because Limbaugh spews right-wing propaganda and the Proud Boys get into some street fights with Antifa, compared to Biden presiding over literal wars, genocides, and murders?
you've got some blinders on, sorry to say. It's telling that you think simply being Republican and voicing that view is WORSE than literally dropping bombs on children and weddings. It's telling that you think speaking words on the radio is worse than literally starting wars in foreign countries that lead to slavery and civil war and genocide.
Biden didn’t preside over any bombings or genocides. Those were Obama’s and Bush’s calls. You’re both robbing Biden of credit for things he has directly responsible for (overseeing our economic recovery and the violence against women act) while simultaneously pushing the blame onto him for things that weren’t his decisions. That’s completely mis-attributing blame and responsibility.
Biden also has no connection to anti-fa or anyone on the extreme left, who also have been cleared of any and all blame for violence according to the FBI. So there is no equivalent to him and Limbaugh’s fomenting of violence, nor any left wing “equivalent” to the violent right wing extremists.
People who live in the echo chamber believe this blindly. Rush has been the boogeyman for a whole swath of people. Recently, when mentioning Ben Shapiro, someone close to me said "Oh gosh, he's a rightwing nutjub". Why? Well, because this person had heard this. He's literally "bad" because he's a Republican. It means nothing to me when people say bad stuff about rightwing pundits now. I remember being on a delivery once and an old man was listening to Rush. I thought the man was delusional. Now that I'm older, I realize I was young, naive, and didn't realize the smearing machine that happens with media and popular culture. I'm awake now. The same happens with men's rights.
Holy shit they’re triggered about it too. Just look at this comment it’s in this same post! People do not like him here. I’m wondering if a bunch of leftists stormed the subreddit, not sure.
I’ve listened to rush more than once. Used to bump right wing radio on my trips from Richmond to northern VA to keep on why the right is so outraged about everything.
Trust me. Rush deserves no sympathy. He is an outrage preacher who contributes massively to the unconquerable divide between republicans and democrats.
He’s not “just a republican”
Fuck off with that nonsense. He preaches hate for your neighbors. Fuck him.
I’ve been listening to him most of his career and I haven’t heard him say anything like what is being described. As I mentioned earlier, all his critics just parrot nonsense.
I’m not saying he’s infallible, but the man has been talking about issues for 30 years and most of his concerns are justified. In fact, most of these issues are blowing up in our faces right now because of leftists that have gone off the deep end.
You don’t see conservatives burning the flag. You don’t see conservatives subscribing to divisive identity politics. You don’t see conservatives rioting and destroying property. Don’t tell me Rush and other conservatives preach hate for their neighbors. The evidence is plain to see. Leftists are consumed by hatred and do nothing but project.
What kool-aid am I buying exactly? Are you just gonna throw out the same meaningless buzzwords liberals have been using the past decade? Your arguments never have any legs to stand on. You just scream racist or bigot and then run away while declaring yourselves the victor. It doesn’t work anymore.
You can’t deny the fact that leftists are hateful and violent after watching the riots this year. Their actions have been on camera for all the world to see for the past 6 months. I’ve seen what they’ve done and I’ve listened to what they say. It’s pretty frightening. Do you deny that all this violence is from the left?
Liberals/communists are practically foaming at the mouth and want to hurt anyone that disagrees with them. Wanna guess who’s been trying to expose them for what they are the past 30 years?
the amount of people who are shitting on him for having different political views while simultaneously claiming to support men in this comment section insane. yall can stop being puppets of the left and the media now.
Rush Limbaugh being berated for things going on in his life is more of a “live by the sword, die by the sword” or “you reap what you sow” sort of thing.
Rush is a psychotic piece of shit who deserves zero compassion for any reason. Fuck him. He isn't being shit on because he's a man, he's being shit on for being an enormous pile of shit.
Granted this is the first I’ve heard of this guy and I therefore don’t know what he’s said or done during his life.
But. He’s a human being at the end of the day and all humans deserve the opportunity be educated in the morally correct while also being forgiven for their prior actions.
Perhaps his tears are tears of regret? Maybe he thinks that this is retribution for his toxicity? Regardless, the guy is dying and deserves some comfort from fellow man before he takes his final breath.
None of us are perfect and we cannot say that we’ve never harmed anybody. So don’t wish death on somebody who’s also made mistakes.
If this is the first you've heard of Limbaugh, that's impressive. He's been a grade A douchebag for 30+ years, and together with his fellow assclown Newt Gingrich has been one of the largest drivers of partisan politics bullshit in the US.
As a man, sure, but he isn't getting shat on for being a man, is he? Rush Limbaugh is one of the worst Americans alive today and the hatred is well deserved. In spite of the PC expectations of me wishing kindness on a sickly and dying old man, I won't. Karma is a roll of the dice, some people pay for their sins and others don't. In this case, it hit. I'm glad Limbaugh is dying and I hope that he suffers every single day from now until then.
If these comments are from the same type of people I'm "aligned" with on this sub then I don't want to be apart of the vitriol of this sub anymore. If you make an excuse to be a piece of shit then expect others to make other excuses to persecute you someday. Men's rights has a place but no longer on reddits echo chamber of madness as it will hurt it more than help it.
He spewed hatred and bile for decades. Like Trump, he won't get any sympathy from the people he bashed and trashed, and he sure won't get any sympathy from the RW deplorable types that are his audience. They lack the capacity for empathy.
No toxic masculinity is in this comment thread. It’s not being macho. It’s collectively saying “fuck Limbaugh I’m glad he’s dying of cancer.” this is actually the only case of it I’ve seen in real life, too. And on r/MensRights. I hate to say it but all the comments are kind of a hive mind here
Edit: you know what: why did I call it toxic masculinity? It’s just toxicity in general, no need to slap a gender on it. Y’all are toxic god damn.
Fuck that piece of shit. That's not a men's rights thing, that's a garbage human being thing. This is the same guy that downplayed the risks of tobacco and specifically secondhand smoke for years and years. Oh yeah, and he's part of the ilk in this country responsible for the borderline radicalizing of conservatives. Fuck that piece of shit and may he burn in hell.
Hahahaha what a great day! He has done more to tear down democracy and see vile hate than most people throughout all of history.
I look forward to him slowly coming to terms with what he's done as the loneliness sets on on him and he realizes that when he passes through the gates of death, nothing matters except how he treated people.
Pretty sure it's cuz he's a racist hateful piece of shit person who used his platform to promote all the awful things that we have been experiencing under Trump and under Bush
I agree 99% of the time, but not in Limbaughs case. Hes low key to blame for trump, hes spread a lot of hate and ignorance over his career, and recently helped kill thousands of people by telling them covid is just a common cold. Karmas a bitch and Limbaughs getting what he deserved.
This is neither. He spent years telling people that smoking didn't increase your risk of cancer. Other people likely died because of him in the same way.
I can’t see how that’s true, a person taking money in order to convince other people they will not get cancer from doing something when infact many will, definitely deserves to get it
Similarly Tobacco executives that did the same thing deserve cancer
If you are increasing the chances other people get cancer via disinfo in order to line your pockets than yeah, enjoy that cancer when it happens
If you have dedicated your life to ensuring that when these people do get cancer they will not have healthcare so you can line your own pockets, again, you deserve it
I didn’t actually wish death on him, he just happens to have got a super poetic comeuppance for the terrible things he’s done to other people and it’s pretty fucking awesome to see that as usually shitbags like him live out their days in peace
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerer's, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death"
Revelation 22:18-19
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
Cancer is the least of Rush's problems right now. My dad listens to his garbage, and the fucking idiot props up his selfish, greedy rhetoric on the Bible. He is part of the reason why Christianity is detested in the United States, and he has driven more people from God than you could imagine. Fuck him, I hope he suffers. He is cancer.
Watch a friend wither away from cancer, too broke to get proper treatment, and then listen to Rush rant about how healthcare is a "privilege, not a right" and call anyone that disagrees with him as godless communists. Then check back here, k? Thx
and here we are..some dicks berating Rush..how fucking ironic..just because he has different opinions than you does not make it ok for you fucktards to shit all over him. But that's very common from buttfucked democrats who can't handle people who think differently
I am so sick and tired of watching men’s rights erode. We can uplift women without slamming the other gender down. I love the alpha males in my life. They are confident and strong, have a high regard for others, and are willing to give the shirt off their back to help a stranger. That is emotion. Just because the guy isn’t bawling his eyes out when he puts the shirt around the shoulders of the stranger doesn’t mean he’s not feeling emotions or not in touch with them. Should a man cry? - fucking A he should if he wants. A confident man isn’t afraid to be vulnerable with the ones he loves.
I have little respect for beta males. It’s not because they are in touch with their feelings or can’t throw a punch. It’s because they are whiny simps who wear ill fitting tight pants and will say anything to prove they aren’t a racist, misogynist, or any other “ist” including handing over their self-respect because someone is mean to them. They don’t seem to stand on a solid foundation. They whine more than almost any woman I know. I don’t like beta females either. They are usually nasty feminazis who like to prove how individual they are by dying their hair, piercing everything on their body, and hating men (all while crying because no one wants to be their boyfriend). They yell equality, but don’t think it’s fair they have to sign up for the draft.
I’ve never faced what Rush is facing right now. I don’t know how I would feel or how I would react facing my own mortality. I imagine every little thing I felt I did wrong whether or not I apologized and felt truly sorry would come whooshing in. People are people and no ones perfect. Hammering down on a guy dying from cancer is pretty shitty. If you don’t have something nice to say, keep your pie hole shut.
Sad to see so much hate generated by this. Aren't you tied of hating yet? Doesn't this constant political and social hatred take a toll on you? Inviting hate into yourself, and fanning the flames, it's like taking poison.
Whatever kind of person this guy was, deciding whether to have empathy for him based on his behaviour, that gives him control over who you are. Who decides who is deserving of empathy and who is not, who is deserving of human rights and who is not. If we start even asking these questions we have lost sight of genuine empathy and humanity. You don't have to like someone to show empathy.
It's sad when people die, particularly when they die slowly of cancer or chronic disease.

[–]madtayham 4 points5 points6 points (5 children) | Copy Link
I think ‘toxic masculinity’ sounds offensive because it implies there is something toxic about being masculine. I think what it should be instead is ‘toxic associations with masculinity’. The toxic thing being people’s expectation that someone can’t be masculine and also expressive at the same time. Or that you’re ‘forfeiting’ some of your masculinity in doing so, which you’re not.
What do you think? Why do you dislike the phrase ‘toxic masculinity’?
[–][deleted] 4 points5 points6 points (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah, this term has been discussed more times than you can count. It's got big problems but people love to defend it.
Some alternatives that avoid most of the problems:
Toxic gender expectations for men
Toxic ideas of masculinity
Toxic versions of masculinity
Macho bullshit
The "manbox" concept
[–]madtayham 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
I love that. I’m subbing out ‘toxic masculinity’ in favour of ‘Macho Bullshit’ from now on.
[–]ThisKapsIsCrazy 1 point2 points3 points (2 children) | Copy Link
[–]OGBoglord 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
If you're specifically referencing masculinity and not the social expectations of men, then it would make sense to apply the term 'toxic masculinity' to both men and women. The problem is that this term is only ever applied to men. "Toxic gender expectations for men" makes more sense (although its definitely a mouthful).
[–]madtayham 0 points1 point2 points (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a defense in any way just a clarification...

[–]MakeGoodBetter 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Just because you can change a sentence's noun doesn't make it true or equivalent. We, as a society, have a general rule for the behavior we will tolerate from an individual. This is not equal to telling lies about GROUPS of people. Unless you are saying that I'm telling lies about Rush Limbaugh being a disgusting person. In which case, that is a reasonable argument (in contrast with your current trash) and I'd be happy to debate that with you.
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah I think the thing that makes it toxic masculinity rather than just Rush hate is the "leave the stage with dignity" thing, implying that showing emotion as a man is not dignified.

I think it's important to not let Rush Limbaugh set our moral standards. It's not okay that he was a piece of shit but he is a human being and I think it is a good thing to have empathy for his suffering.

k so Biden has mocked Trump, does that mean it's cool if we mock Biden when he dies or is dying?
Clinton has mocked lots of people, let's cheer when she kicks the bucket too, ok?
this trend of declaring someone to be persona non grata and thereby justifying anything you do to them is disgusting.

You obviously don't know anything about Rush Limbaugh, just another uneducated troglodyte who thinks his opinion is worth something.
Rush just spent 50 years tearing down social progress, fomenting violence against minorities and destroying democracy.
I quite literally jumped for Joy when I heard he had cancer
[–]MeLittleSKS -1 points0 points1 point (7 children) | Copy Link
I guarantee you've never listened to Rush Limbaughs show in your entire life and formulated this opinion based on what Salon, Vox, CNN, or NYT told you to think about him.
sounds like a pretty powerful guy. wow.
that's a sign that you probably have some mental problems and need help. Being that consumed by hatred for some talk show host is not healthy. Like, the things that have made me happy enough to "jump for joy" are actual important things in my life, important moments or milestones with family and friends, not "some political commentator I don't like got cancer". How sad for you.
[–]Master_Millwood -1 points0 points1 point (6 children) | Copy Link
Wrong, as your kind always is. I was my mother's caretaker before she passed and unfortunately he was one of her favorite radio hosts and I had to listen to him all the time and I had to slowly watch him radicalize my mother with hateful right-wing white supremacist propaganda.
It's funny how all of you right wing propaganda puppets sound exactly the same. Unlike you, I know how to think critically and parse information.
Nah I'm good. You're pathetic though.

right back atcha sunshine. muh rush limbaugh, muh FOX news, muh Rupert Murdoch, muh Koch Brothers. But keep enjoying your oh-so objective journalisming performed by all the objective journalists who only ever fact-check and always just tell facts.
you don't sound good dawg.
[–]Master_Millwood 0 points1 point2 points (3 children) | Copy Link

Meanwhile they're just as biased as any FOX news anchor.
so you're either lying, or just lazy to look it up.

that's just three I pulled out in 5 seconds of looking. So this claim of yours that fox hosts don't have degrees in journalism-related fields and aren't "professional" is absurd and incorrect.
k first of all, since you've devolved into "everyone who disagrees with me must love Trump", I was a never trumper in 2016. Thought he was a terrible candidate for the GOP to pick. But I get that "lol you like Trump" is a convenient boogeyman for anyone arguing against you.

Funny because the husband was suspended for pushing him over it happening, as well as his swimming naked around the female agents, and he has had dozens of complaints about his touching women over the years.

this is after they just spent four years packing the courts, including stealing a SC seat from obama and giving 3 to trump... and trump supporting zombies don't see why that's an issue...
At the same time Bill Barr has been making some unprecedented moves in the last couple of days. Richard Pilger, the country's top election crime investigator, was essentially forced to resign.

[–]anons-a-moose 7 points8 points9 points (0 children) | Copy Link
It’s because a lot of second wave feminists haven’t fully embraced intersectionality and recognized men’s issues. We group all feminists together. First wave, second, and third. Same with men’s rights activists. The incels, red pillers , and PUAs get all grouped in with the men just trying to fight for their rights. Those two groups will always ideologically be against one another until everyone is on the same page.

I'm not bringing the focus to women. I'm taking the focus off of men. My point is to outline the fact that it is societal standards that are imposed and upheld by both men and women, so defining this problem as just a product of "toxic masculinity" is flat out wrong.

I disagree. He brought this on not only himself, but many others. Fuck him.
[–]Clockw0rk 1 point2 points3 points (7 children) | Copy Link
For fuck same, you can be better than that.
[–]RagingAlien -2 points-1 points0 points (6 children) | Copy Link
I haven't paid much attention to this thread so far (in part because I had no goddamn clue who Rush Limbaugh was) but isn't what you described here just... toxic masculinity?
[–]Clockw0rk 1 point2 points3 points (5 children) | Copy Link
No, because it has nothing to do with masculinity and it’s also a stereotype perpetuated by women into men.
“Toxic masculinity” is a nonsense term that few people agree upon, so why suffer to use it and try to explain its context every time?
[–]RagingAlien -1 points0 points1 point (4 children) | Copy Link
Isn't it exactly what the thing's about, though? That being masculine is to be strong, to be without emotions, to be an unshakeable rock in a stormy sea?
That... doesn't necessarily mean it isn't toxic masculinity? It's a societal thing, not necessarily applied only by men onto other men. Just like how feminists complain about body image issues that are also perpetuated by other women.
It actually seems pretty well defined, by the looks of it.
[–]Clockw0rk 0 points1 point2 points (2 children) | Copy Link
What you described are toxic gender roles.
[–]RagingAlien -1 points0 points1 point (1 child) | Copy Link
Have you read any of the three links I posted? They go over that.
I feel when a term has apparently been horribly misunderstood by part of the population, it might be worth trying to show them what the term means instead of trying to find another way of saying the same thing.
[–]Clockw0rk 1 point2 points3 points (0 children) | Copy Link
Didn’t fucking work for global warming. Sometimes you have to bend to the audience and rebrand to language that can all be agreed upon. “Climate Change” is the new term, doesn’t confuse the dummies.
Likewise, “toxic gender roles” is a superior term to “toxic masculinity” because it’s more descriptive, can be applied to evenly to multiple genders, and doesn’t offend anyone.
Take a hint.
[–]wikipedia_text_bot -1 points0 points1 point (0 children) | Copy Link
Toxic masculinity

My guess is that you are completely uninformed and just working off of what you've heard in your echo chamber. If I asked you for examples of this daily hatred, would you provide them, or would you insult me?
[–]Dls95405 0 points1 point2 points (1 child) | Copy Link
It's perfectly understandable. Trump will get the same response. You can't shit on everything decent and humane about half the population of America for years and expect to get any sympathy when it's your turn to suffer.

You can if you decide to be a 'good loser' and suck up to the left. Just wait for Romney to die.

I think you'll find it has more to do with politics. ie. Rush Limbaugh is a Republican, therefore he's evil, therefore his death is to be celebrated.

[–]MeLittleSKS 1 point2 points3 points (20 children) | Copy Link
and lemme guess, you think he's a "giant asshole" because.....?
Like I said. this is just standard behavior. I mean, it's practically mainstream to wish death upon Donald Trump "because he's totally evil".
who would be Limbaughs equivalent on the left? Wolf Blitzer? Anderson Cooper? Cenk Uyger (lol)? I think they're assholes, so is it cool if I wish death on them and mock them if/when they die?
I mean if that's the game we're playing, fair enough I guess.
[–]politits -2 points-1 points0 points (19 children) | Copy Link
He’s a vile racist who spews and spreads hate of all kinds. He has contributed very little good and a whole lot of evil to the world. Doesn’t matter who he votes for or endorses. The man is evil and has made the country and the world a worse place because if his actions, and he deserves to have his own horrible comments haunt him wherever he goes, including to the grave and beyond.
[–]MeLittleSKS 1 point2 points3 points (13 children) | Copy Link
[–]politits 0 points1 point2 points (12 children) | Copy Link
Not equivalent. Not even close. Biden has also done a lot of good, like manage the economic recovery act that kept millions out of poverty and rescued our economy, or sponsoring the violence against women act to prevent domestic violence. Please name any amount of good that Rush did that helped millions of people or in any way offset the detriment he caused to our society.
[–]MeLittleSKS 0 points1 point2 points (11 children) | Copy Link
I think being responsible for genocide is pretty close lol.
giving Biden credit for "muh economy" is a bit weak. Especially while he was overseeing a government that drone-bombed the living daylights out of tons of countries and started various wars in the middle east.
sorry but whatever "detriment to society" Limbaugh has caused, it doesn't reach the level of "dropping bombs on weddings in foreign countries" or "starting wars in foreign countries that result in genocide, civil war, slavery, and horrific amounts of suffering".
[–]politits 0 points1 point2 points (10 children) | Copy Link
[–]MeLittleSKS 0 points1 point2 points (9 children) | Copy Link
hey, you choose man. if you wanna give Biden credit for some bill that got passed 10 years ago, he's also gotta take the blame for drone-bombing brown kids in the middle east.
k that's still not war or genocide
but AntiFa are just an idea right? a grassroots peaceful protest movement? gimme a break.
[–]politits 0 points1 point2 points (8 children) | Copy Link

It’s not blind faith when there’s ample evidence. It’s literally the opposite. Who’s in the echo chamber? Rush is a vile racist.
Also, Ben Shapiro self-owns on the regular. He only comes across as smart by people who are easily fooled by oversimplification and platitudes.

Fuck him.
[–]New_Originals 3 points4 points5 points (2 children) | Copy Link
No, I won’t trust you.
[–]AlvinKuppera -4 points-3 points-2 points (1 child) | Copy Link

There is no such thing as a Beta or Alpha male.
We are all simply male, we shouldn't be categorised on how we would react to a situation.

Your first paragraph was mostly good, everything else? Not so much

Rush Limbaugh has individually earned the scorn and contempt of society. It’s unrelated to his gender.

and I'm pretty sure none of you have room to speak since you back up a movement who destroys businesses and kills little kids.
