Ah yes, because if the crime is heinous enough it's no longer important who committed the crime as long as someone, anyone, gets punished. As long as the victim cries enough they will feel better by seeing another person punished, whether or not they are actually guilty is less important.

I work with 2 guys who have to pay child support after fighting for custody of their children and losing. Makes my blood boil. Let's put aside the fact that the system is hugely in favour of women in situations like this. Their baby-mamas FOUGHT for them to not have custody of their children. In my opinion that means you waive all rights to child support if you win. The child's father tried his hardest to support the child in the form of caring for it and buying the child things while under the fathers custody....but you fought to make sure that didn't happen, so you can, in that case, support the child on your own. in my opinion.

God I have such strong feelings on this. How many women have you ever met who go "aw man I can't afford child support, every one of my paycheques goes to this kid I had 12 years ago and never see"? I'm not saying it never happens but I've personally never met a mother who can make claims like that. It's based on obsolete assumptions that men make more money than women by default, which isn't the case anymore. My wife (whom I am happily married to and have no kids with) makes way more money than me, and as the years go by our wage gap will increase even more substantially as she progresses through a career with a far higher ceiling than mine....but if we ever had kids and got divorced, guess who loses.
