I need a link. I saw pictures of some girls walking around so I couldn't be sure.

My gut said that it was likely boys that were targeted, that is generally the reality of these situations even if the world refuses to acknowledge it. The hint was the lack of mentioning any girl victims.

The thing is that every single report I've ever read of mass killings in the Middle East or Africa that doesn't mention the gender of the victims have always meant that all of the victims were male. I don't think that trend is going to be broken here, so I'm going to assume that the boys were singled out. It always blows the mind of Western observers who simply cannot comprehend that it is the men and boys that get massacred in these so-called hell-holes for women (and not men aswell, of course).

CNN was caught spreading misinformation, notably that these children were attacked for attending school and that hospitals are ONLY treating boys - the attack was in fact on the male wing of the school and the victims happen to be mainly male (and all the dead children are boys), female victims are in fact receiving the same priority treatment.

An overlooked fact in these types of situations is that mostly ALL of the people that come to help are men almost exclusively. Sure, the people that generally perpetuate these types of violent crimes are men, however they are widely outnumbered by the amount of men that are coming to do good. I should have stressed that I don't know if in fact there were any girls (so I don't have a link). But all the accounts of the injured and dead were boys. But how many times have we seen this? I would be VERY surprised if there were any girls since a lot of the time these terrorist kill the boys. Boko Haram is a good example where the girls were kidnapped and the boys were killed (in many cases burned alive) yet all we heard in the media was "Bring back our girls" and the boys (well who cares about them!)

If they were targeted because they were boys, then that is one thing and I believe it is entirely relevant to mention that girls are girls if they are being targeted as such because they're trying to get an education. Edit: also, since we live in a male dominated world, men are the default as people. They don't need to be pointed out as male, our mind is already conditioned to think that neautral gender means male. It's a symptom of a male-centric world, not oppression of men. Victims identified as women are because they are thought of as "other."

Female children werent targeted for murder because the men who committed the attacks see women as helpless objects, not as potential soldiers or threats. I guarantee the men who committed the crimes are as sexist as they come. They were exacting revenge. In a world and culture where men are held to a higher regard, it is sadly more revenge to kill a soldiers son than daughter.

My volunteer firefighter company pulled a dead guy out of a fire years ago, skin peeled back wherever we touched him like the guy in We Were Soldiers. Local paper new he was DOA but they said we pulled him out alive and he died on his way to the hospital. They left out a detail to make the story more heart wrenching. In this case women are not close to equal in Pakistan. Tinting with the fact that girls are not allowed to get the same education takes away from the shear brutality, which must take precedence.
