I hate to ask this, but do you have any evidence that she's cheating? The sudden loss of interest, the rapid decision to divorce.......it kinda adds up.
[–]Xan-Diesel 20 points21 points22 points 3 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
All the signs and evidence seem to take a while to absorb - sort of like being unable to "see" the fog until you're out of it. Its sad to look back after a couple years beyond the initial separation for me because the signs it was ending were there for at least six months before I discovered the affair. I legitimately believed if things got bad enough we'd work it out and finally talk about it because we were both using the word "forever" the same way and actually meant what we said when we got married. Hunkering down and dealing with being tolerated just prolonged my misery.

We all did brother.
My ex is still shocked, i pulled cold turkey on her. 25 years married and she isn't permitted to speak to me or enter my new house, text about the kids only and i answer with a thumb Emoji, i went hard boundaries and have stayed with them for a couple of years, i will not be friends with a multiple cheater.

I responded with the dark brown thumb emoji for a couple months. Shit it made giggle. I needed to giggle

[–]Greadle 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Just reading again your comment made me think about the benefits of mending. My victory over her and the paramour were paper thin. We didn’t even go to court. She settled, he settled within 2 weeks. I broke the agreement straight away by telling his wife the whole story. Shit got wild and i did punish them extensively in the first year or so. That was 8 years ago. Now we all have dinner, together, vacation together, go to all the kid events, holidays, everything. and they’ve had a new kid that calls me uncle. What makes it wonderful from my perspective is I get to see how tired that motherfucker is. Like everytime I see them, he looks like he is about to collapse. Its comforting that i made out so well, it’s empowering to see them live the life they created. In general i go out of my way to annoy them. Like my ex has a gag reflex when she hears someone else gagging or puking. So I taught the new kid how to make the noise so mommy would do it too. She texted later, “why would teach that to my kid. Ive been gagging and the kid won’t stop. This sucks” Im like. 👍🏿

The silver lining for me is that I've started to look forward to being wrong because it means I get to learn something. I learned a lot throughout the process of separation and divorce and so much of it was about me.
[–]Classic_Dill 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]SpacemanLost 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Same here.
There was a lot of willingness on my part to believe her various lies and gaslighting, taking each one of stories and explanations at a time (for a while at least). But standing back a bit afterwards, the big picture leaps out loud and clear.
[–]Xan-Diesel 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Definitely. The experience (and imploding of my life) has caused me to re-think the way I approach problems and conflict. I'm much better at trying to gather my thoughts, take some time (including sleeping on certain issues) and then coming up with a concerted effort rather than trying to solve it immediately.

I agree. Download WhatsApp put in her number to see if she has an account. If she does…. Sorry bro. Also if she’s all over Snapchat or endlessly on IG it’s a wrap.
I guarantee if you snoop your gut instinct will be dead on. The sad truth is Almost all modern women are 304s

She has depression, and some other mental issues. And I haven't seen any indications of cheating.
[–]ragingredditir 19 points20 points21 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
If she has chronic depression then you would have experienced cycles of this countless times by now.
If this is new, not something “seasonal” or something that you’re used to dealing with then it isn’t depression.
Unfortunately my gut instinct is lining up with everyone else’s. She likely betrayed you in a way that would end the relationship. She is now pushing you away because it’s easier to say she “fell out of love” then it is to come clean and fess up.
Edit: “I’ve seen no indications of cheating.” What we are telling you, is that everything you described in this post is unfortunately indications of cheating. You just may have not yet found a smoking gun.

Keep this up and don't buckle when she warms back up because you're unavailable. It's a false lapse. You can turn the power-imbalance tables but only as an exit strategy. Don't share anything with your ex-friend. I know it's a habit but it'll hurt you later. Your life has changed, run towards what that is. Learn who you were again and lean into that. You're not less of a person, you just need to see the light of day to see yourself.
Edit to add, don't be mad at her or yourself. Life changes, people change. Letting go of anger or a feeling of loss is the first step to rebuilding you.
In time you'll see this as the best thing that could have happened. You never know what worse luck your bad luck has saved you from.
PLEASE LISTEN THIS IS SOLID ADVICE.

Absolute cheating. Probably emotional at first and then once they sealed the deal physically she lost desire to be married. Verbatim what happened to me. This is classic cheater behavior.
[–]dogsrule2019 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Also, some of us were raised to be the new "sensitive generation", to be in touch with our feelings, and to not be the "hard" men that came before us. That women liked this new type man, etc. In the vast majority of the time, imo, it's total bullshit. Women want a MAN. A leader. Wants him to be stoic and strong. They do not want him crying and being sensitive. They don't respect that guy. Just my .02.
[–]Classic_Dill 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep, when i date, i have a stiff back, a confident tone and it has done me wonders. Women love confidence and hate weakness, did you ever have a women just give it up on the first date? did you like it? Yea! would you marry her? NO! see the lesson there. Be a confident gentleman, support, love, care and be a man! make sure you get everything you give, gotta be a balance or no go.
Newly Single Guy to do list
[–]InWeGoNow 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Also seems like women are in a new generation where they're empowered and hailed as a champion through divorce. "I deserve better simply because I am woman"
[–]dogsrule2019 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
And then somehow roll out the victim card when they're not getting what they think they deserve.
[–]BurnDownTheMission68 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This is exactly the dynamic. Men took women at their word when they said they wanted more feminized men and became weak and pussified. Then she meets Chad in sales who is more masculine and she hates every inch of your beta ass. If she has options—if she is thin and pretty, she will exercise them and “vows” are meaningless abstractions.
100%. I think if we could be 100% honest, women are, in general, subs. Feminism has told them they have to be doms. They try. It doesn't work. They fail. Marriages fail. It's shameful that it's gone down this way. Didn't have to. My boys will be much more heads up and aware as they enter the dating/marriage phase of their lives.

Look up walk away wife syndrome. She checked out years ago and has been getting ready to exit. Said resentment had been building up and trued to discuss with me but she didn't. [–]redveinlover 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Yep pretty much same thing happened to me. This is a real thing that happens to marriages all the time. They pretend to be happy for a while and then at some point they just shut down and go ice cold and become someone you don’t know and never knew would have the ability to become.
[–]jaihind123456 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Yes I dont get it. They really become a new person. I think they guidance from haters who support them rather than encourage them to fight for the marrisge. They forget the impact on kids but they become the victim. Now I am not saying that her decision is wrong but I can honestly say she didn't try to repair what we had. Honestly i hear it happens all the time but I knkw only 1 other person going through this ... I see many more couples who may struggle but don't give up at this age and accept nothing in life is perfect

[–]jaihind123456 9 points10 points11 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think most cases I hear is that its not good. Mine promised she would be amicable but became evil and doesnt speak to me and so its painful. Nothing like she was when married.... it was all about getting revenge on me ... all those good times forgotten and just horrible
[–]Classic_Dill 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You don't want her speaking to you, you need to figure out what kind of a man your are and heal, you cant do that with her in your scope.
[–]InWeGoNow 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Mine was completely amicable. The divorce itself was not bad as neither of us wanted to give lawyers (too much of) our money. But life is still hard and depressing. It's almost like the wife I knew suddenly disappeared and that's not easy. Focus on you and your kids and accept the marriage is done. Sorry. It sucks. Right there with ya. Good luck.
[–]Classic_Dill 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Depends how pissed she is, stand tall and tell your lawyer to be a bastard.
She isn't your problem anymore, don't let her lean on you later! she gave up on you, you owe her nothing.
[–]believeitalways 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
My STBXW wants me involved with her to get kids to their activities when she has them. I’ve taken the position, when they’re with you, you’re responsible for getting them to activities and vice versa when they’re with me. What do folks think of this position? Fair?
I don’t want to see and hear from her everyday.
[–]Classic_Dill 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Spot on! its her problem when they are with her. Doctors appt? maybe.
But, she is trying to groom you my brother, shes pushing boundaries to see how much of a beta slave you will be, you did good! don't take that BS. My ex wife tried to not buy food and have the kids ask me?!!!!!(she makes $145,000 a year) during her week with them. I said "no problem" the food will be at my house and you can eat it here and stay the night, that's the deal. She shaped up quick after that.

[–]CrazySanta7 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sorry to hear this, but it is textbook. She has thought about this for months or even years. They often start fights, are cold, etc to make things bad so they can get the opportunity to bring up separation/divorce. There is likely a new man on the picture. Don't shoot the messenger or deny the possibility of her cheating. It's too easy these days with social media, etc. Women don't announce separation/divorce without having a place to land, period.
Get the ball rolling. It's over. Don't be a d%$$, but don't be a doormat either. The person you married is gone. It sucks, but hold it together. Be the best dad you can be under the circumstances. Get sleep, eat right, don't drink yourself to death and hit the gym. If you want to see your marriage demise in 15 min. Go watch 'the marriage wheel' on youtube by coach greg adams. Good luck bro.

Her issues are no longer your problem. Move back home immediately and get a digital audio recorder running on your person at all times when home to avoid the false domestic violence accusations. No need to discuss anything but care of the children. In the vast majority of states you can reside together for the duration of the divorce, and doing so will give you a better outcome than moving out when it comes to parenting time and assets.
[–]James1933-75 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Sir, listen, it doesn't matter if she has no place to go, she ain't your wife any longer. Kick her out! The children stay with you.

Get back into your house ASAP! Stay calm and try to make her feel guilty, then tell her she is greedy for money. Your biggest priority right now is to secure your hard earned money. Do what it takes (emotional drama, talking through children, giving gifts to parents, asking her not to involve lawyers etc.)

Also, be strong be quiet. Say very little she will eventually start rambling on trying to bait you into an argument. Let her get worked up. Give a lot of nods. Okays. That’s cool. Alright. She will most likely end up telling on herself out of frustration. Let her speak it’ll all spill out.
[–]Party_Rebel 10 points11 points12 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You’re attorney should recommend a legit private investigator. Trust me and the rest of us on the sub, WHEN she leaves you she is going to be the victim and you will most likely pay her because she will get your kids. It sounds like she is cheating and your PI will get you evidence so you can get out of this failed partnership without her poisoning your kids against you, taking half of your everything, including relationships with other people. Divorce laws in most states heavily favor the women and they become ruthless most of the time. Something has happened. You owe it to your kids and yourself to get out in front of this because from what you said, she has already left you and she is getting her ducks in a row. And stay in the house even if you are confined to a guest room or basement. Your lawyer will explain the benefits of that move. Put your kids first, lead by example, don’t look back, and most importantly, remember that your best days are still ahead of you. Hire a PI today!
[–]AirSailer 12 points13 points14 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm agreeing with everyone else, the behavior (even if there is no evidence) is that she's either cheating or is beginning a relationship with someone else (probably on social media).
Don't leave your home. Stop breaking down, now is the time to turn off all emotions around her; crying is totally acceptable and understandable, just don't do it around her or let her see you afterwards. You should be stone-cold around her, only interact with her regarding logistically topics such as kids or bills.
What out for domestic abuse accusations... They are usually the default for women at the beginning of the divorce process.
The woman you are with now is no longer the woman you married, you cannot treat her the same nor can you behave the same around her.
[–]StoneyRocksInMySocks 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like she has already moved on mentally and emotionally. And she probably has moved on physically in terms of being with another man.
This doesn't happen all of a sudden. I think you probably just didn't recognize the signs.
I'm in a situation now where my wife and I don't speak at all. We are staying in separate rooms in the same house, so no sex.
It will remain that way until the divorce is final. I am not moving out of a house that I paid for until we sell the house.
I know it is difficult, but I think you need to move on. Don't try to make it work because she has already moved on. Her actions show that. Consulting with a lawyer is a good decision.
[–]JohnnyMnemo 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
she has no where to go.
That's now her problem. She can treat her love for you like a luxury while she retains the conveniences of being married; the sooner you end that the sooner she will have to grow up and be an adult that's responsible for her own choices.
You have as much right to the house and kids as she does. Her not having any other options is a problem of her own making that she will need to solve for on her own.
[–]Greadle 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
First, things weren’t fine before. Happy marriages never end. Second, get your ass back home because she is cheating. Thats your house, your kids. Your money. She is an enemy now.
[–]Certain-Line-6351 11 points12 points13 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
She didn’t fall outa love. She’s falling for someone else.
Also if she’s mid 30s she’s hitting her wall/midlife crisis and they go straight hoe phase girls nights etc. once you do some research you realize how all to common this is in modern women.
But even if you’re hurt, you’ll win in the end. No man with value wants “used good” or to raise someone else’s children. She may think she’s hot shit an the grass will be greener. It will be for you not her.
We always win in the end.
[–]BurnDownTheMission68 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
This reeks highly of cope. I think more often than not, women win because if they look good they can always find a new sap to fuck them in exchange for goods and services. Even taking “The Wall” into consideration. Women control sex, not men.

[–]BurnDownTheMission68 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because they want the highest value men that they can’t get. But they can settle for a thirsty Simp at any time and that Simp will agree to it.
Soooo, OK. Let me try to help clear the air, your wife fell out of love with you awhile back or shes currently cheating, and is so bold in her treatment of you because she believes she has other arms to fall into (theory) but don't put it past her. She has already told friends and family of her intentions awhile back and they are advising her. It hurts bud, and it will for awhile, you need to go into protection ode now! get to that joint account and get half your money NOW (perfectly legal) and i would really start to dig for her real reason for her change in feelings? did you rant and rave a lot? if she is cheating, that will go far in court, even if your state overlooks infidelity, it will still tarnish her side of the story. DON'T!!!!! concede anything to her, you aren't the bad guy (i hope) she is in destroy mode, she isn't your fiend, wife or confidant, she is an enemy at this point and this is war. If you go into this weak (we all kind of do) she will take you for everything, either by her doing or her lawyers. After the divorce, lay hard boundaries, absolutely no speaking, text about he children if needed, she shouldn't be allowed in your new dwelling, or come to your work or have any conversation with you. Cut her off cold turkey (you can't heal with her anywhere near you) this isn't the women you married! please, understand that. Never speak badly of her in front of the kids, that will backfire. IS your name on the house? go back and start getting you valued property, its about to be thrown in the trash. I'm truly sorry brother, maybe you deserved it? maybe you didn't? you need to truly find out, whats happening.
This sounds cold, i know, because cold is what a divorce is, its a death for sure. As the court date grows nearer. she will become angrier and bolder, be ready. Again CONCEDE NOTHING!
And never cry in front of her again, she see's that as weakness and will use it against you, i used to breakdown in my car.

As a man who's wife did the same thing, later found out she had another, I was traumatized as well. It came out of the blue. Went through the divorce, had a lot of crying nights, talks with my kids, etc...
Let me tell you something though. After almost a year, I have my own house, a beautiful girlfriend and I am the happiest that I have ever been. I feel like a man again!!! I know you don't see it now but trust me, it gets much better.

Let HER leave then - not you.
Don't break down or reveal talk about your emotions to her. You've lost your frame and its going be quite a task to regain it, should you want to. 2 months of bitchy behavior is nothing in terms of enduring shit from a wife, but its also suspect how sudden of a turn she took. So snoop on her and get conclusive evidence she is cheating and start working on your divorce game plan ASAP!

90% there’s another man involved. This happened suddenly to me. It was my wife’s coworker.
Talk to a lawyer. Go back to the house immediately and don’t leave overnight again. You’ll lose your kids leaving the marital home. Look up marital abandonment. Carry a voice activated recorder on you at all times because she’ll try to accuse you of DV to get you out of the house. A PI might be in order too. Look up the divorce 180 if you want any shot of saving your marriage. Don’t do the “pick me dance”. She’ll lose what little respect she has for you. Do not do the “pick me dance”!

When a woman goes cold "out of nowhere" she is usually getting attention somewhere else. I learned this the hard way...with 4 different women

Bro how did you do it for fucking times like I'm not letting a bitch get close to me again man until it's going to be like a fucking 20-year bedding before I even date her

Dude, eventually you realize someone cheating says more about them than you and it's just part of life. I haven't gotten that "butterflies" feeling in years. Women are just companions now, I don't get too attached and if they leave I always eventually find someone else. No big deal

Stronger than i sir
Nope, you are strong/ you eventually realise that love is not a disney fairytale
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yes, she's cheating. I don't get the calls to hire a PI though, what difference does it make?
Also, I'm sorry this is happening to you - it's horrible. But the only way out is through, and your strength now will be your foundation for your new life.

There are a few States for which it makes a difference. Some States require you to have one year of separation prior to divorce, but you can wave the year if the reason you're filing for divorce is adultery. There are also some States that actually do affect spousal support due to adultery. However for most States, they are a 100% no fault and it doesn't matter.
Also for some men, once they learn their partner was cheating it's psychologically and emotionally allows them to detach more. So although it might not affect them legally, it can have a great effect on their mental health.

Even if in a no fault state. Proof of the affair can be used as a negotiation tool for asset and custody settlements. Also it can be useful if false DV charges are used as a way to move the husband out of the marital home. After the final decree, cohabitation with the AP can violate the custody agreement and impact alimony. Many men get run through the wringer, because they find out too late that divorce is warfare that you can't ease into, or walk away from. All that does is guarantee your destruction. You have to shock and awe before you can live in peace.

There’s another dude
[–]RideATX 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Buckle up brother... If you thing the last two months were bad, you're in for a hell of a ride. Focus on yourself and then your kids in that order. Stop looking at her for validation, you have to become your own mental point of origin.

I will be going back tonight.
Don't speak to her, if she tries to engage? just walk by her, legalities are coming down the pipe, no reason to give her ammo.

Pull yourself together and find a good lawyer. You probably should move back into the marital home ASAP unless you're cool with getting owned by your stbx in terms of custody and child support. Make sure to bring this up during the consultation. Whether or not she is cheating won't matter to the court unless you live in a state where infidelity is a factor in alimony decisioning. Others have mentioned hiring a PI to find out if she's cheating, but this could be a waste of time and money. That kind of shit usually comes out in the wash shortly after (or during) divorce anyway.

Stay in the house, let her leave. If she wants put, let her do the work, let her get the lawyer, let her hire the moving truck. Go split your money now, or start siphoning off money if you are joint.

This has been in her plans for months, my guy. It's not new or sudden, it's just that no one told you about it.
All the things you're about to think, such as "Oh my god, what about...?" she has already planned out and organized
This has happened over and over and over again, and we've heard the story hundreds of times. I'm so sorry, bro.

Do not move out of the house. It can hurt you if this thing goes to a divorce.
