Hi guys. I’ve been married for 2 decades and I’m done. I’ve admittedly held my tongue for nearly two decades. Mainly because she’d always find ways to bring up the stuff I said to her in confidence to use against me in an argument. So I stopped sharing. But now I want to leave her. I have 20 years of stuff I need off my chest and because I won’t talk to her anymore and share she calls me a liar because I tell her I have nothing to share etc etc. technically it is a lie but even when I told her in the past about things she tells me to “man up” and I just want to let loose. We have kids tho and so I always bit my tongue in spite of her behavior. But now, with divorce, I want to give her “the truth”. Not one where she gets juicy insecurities or perceived weaknesses about me but actual hard factual evidence about the kind of person she was to me. It feels petty but her mind thinks every failure in this relationship is my fault and she is essentially perfect. She’s quick to say she’s not perfect but as a general statement and not actually identifying why she is not. Letting loose might feel like such a relief but I fear for how it will impact the kids lives. My wife cannot take once criticism big or small but she can give them out on rapid fire. So one criticism, constructive or not, will start a war. Should I divorce her and continue to play the fake keep the peace game or give her raw truth. I’m bubbling now and am tired of all this. Thoughts?
