The thing is, I feel like one of the core principles of fds is to be a decent hard working person? And everyone has the capability to be a hv person, if they work hard enough and work on themselves. And telling people to avoid people who can and will hurt them and pull them down isn't toxic either.

The fascism part though. I’m positive there is a link between men feeling “emasculated” en masse and the rise of right-wing extremists and fascism.

In 1930s Germany, Nazis got German men to feel emasculated by telling them that they’re letting the “inferior” Jews walk all over them and take what they want.

This is why I am slightly happy about this article coming out. A lot of people get curious and come to see what FDS is all about.

So many women stay and learn that they have so much worth, and do not deserve the lives they currently have with LVM.

And there are cases like this man, who is on a new journey for growth, and this sub strengthens that mindset. Hopefully he succeeds on his path to being a HVM.

I’m glad about the traction, because more “negative press” brings women and kickstarts their journey into being the amazing women that flourish and succeed!

I’m only sorry that the mods will have to deal with a lot more hateful messages than usual. We appreciate you queens❤️

Interesting side message of FDS is that this system is ALSO HURTING MEN. I hadn’t thought of that before, because it isn’t the point, but it’s true. We advocate just walking away from LVM because we can’t change them but, in fact, they are fully capable of changing themselves when it’s internally motivated on their part.

We’re told that keeping a man is normal and part of our vitality, but then we feel awful all the time and don’t know why. “Pssssssstt... Hey lady, you over there. That’s because it’s a lie.” Well, the same is true for men. “Pssssssttt... Hey you, man hiding away watching porn and being angry at women. That isn’t natural, you’ve been tricked. Would you like to do some work and dig your way out of that pit?”

Patriarchy is bad for everyone but a handful of ultra wealthy men. It’s great if men can pick up that message by reading between the lines of what we’re saying.

This is always my issue: We create these spaces for women by women so we can have the motivation to do better but the same men who don’t deserve us see our empowerment as a bad thing. Why can’t these men go and level themselves up too. For a man, it is not hard and that’s a whole fact.

Here is my next issue: More men need to create spaces for men and you know what they need to do? Keep the focus on men. So many times I see men make a platform for men just to then cater to women because we have less issues with the criticism. And this is no shade but men can not help women the same way women can help men.

Now here’s the light at the end of this tunnel: as many men that bash our spaces, there are always men who don’t want pickmeisha, they don’t want crumbs, they don’t want 50/50, they want to be a better man, they have dreams and goals, but they have no way of getting there. They will look at our spaces, because men want the good women, but know they can’t get there if they are stuck on the here now. They need a space too. And I commend the men who stick to helping men (I follow a few on YT) but there aren’t enough.

My last thought: men love to say “there aren’t enough men for y’all”. Okay, and? Cher is an amazing role model too. You saw where she said she is her own man? 🤓

This was actually part of my thesis in comparing depictions of authoritarian/totalitarian dystopias in Nabokov, Kafka and Orwell.

At risk of being a big yawn...

In the introduction to Nabokov's dystopian Bend Sinister, Nabokov pans Orwell and expresses great admiration for Kafka. Aside from being a literary chess game, my guess is that Bend Sinister is both an homage to Kafka and a correction of Orwell's conception of authoritarian/totalitarian states in Nineteen Eighty-four.

That's a long argument but one pretty sharp distinction between Kafka's/Nabokov's dystopias and Orwell's is the role of eroticism in authoritarianism.

In Orwell, the state is puritanical; leaders-- as represented by O'Brien-- are sterile, sober, intelligent and magically perceptive; porn is produced by the state as an "opiate" reserved only for the underclass; and eroticism is rebellion.

In Kafka/Nabokov, authoritarianism is at root demented, perverted, rapistic and depraved; depravity is part and parcel with the state's aggression; not only its functionaries but its leader are horny apes; women are reduced to blatant kinkmeishaism in service to the state; and empty eroticism is a trap and the downfall of protagonists.

There are other disparities, like Orwell's cartoonish depiction of state hyper-efficiency (even decrepit living conditions and shortages are carefully planned) and magical technological mastery (Thoughtcrime technology, reprogramming) compared to Nabokov's depiction of the state's clownish incompetence and technological absurdity. Then Orwell's dystopian dictatorship bans intellectualism while leaders (represented again by O'Brien) are covertly intellectual. By contrast, Nabokov's/Kafka's dystopias are run by demented idiots. Leaders in Nabokov's dystopia seek the false cloak of intellectualism by coercing the intelligentsia to publicly support the state.

Because Na.zi.s are still falsely mythologized as having been technological masters and "hyperefficient," it may not be immediately apparent that Nabokov's conception of authoritarianism/totalitarianism is probably the more accurate one.

I appreciate Orwell but the experiental difference between Orwell and Nabokov is clear. While Orwell's rebel tourism in Spain in the Republican battle against Franco made an important contribution to history, Orwell was able to safely escape back to his ostensibly democratic homeland after getting injured and did not experience totalitarianism in either nascent or extended stages. He viewed much of it from a distance. Meanwhile Nabokov, whose wife was Je.wish, experienced the full gamut of 20th century total.itarianism from inception: he escaped the Soviet Union, witnessed Hit.ler's rise in Berlin and his brother Sergey was persecuted and mu.r.dered by the Na.z.is (at first for being ho.mo.sexual and then as an open critic of Hit.ler).

Though Nabokov grumpily denies that the book has any particular purpose, my sense is that it's an indictment of Orwell's "failure to warn" regarding the earmarks of a tota.litarisn shift. Orwell's dystopia telegraphs its unmistakably grim, deadly omnipotence. In Nabokov and Kafka, authoritarians/totalitarians are pervy clownboys and you'd be laughing yourself sick at their antics right up to the moment they destroy everything you ever loved--just as Einstein initially dismissed Na.z.is as laughable.

Porn as fa.sci.st training fits neatly with the latter model.

Sorry but that sounds like it was written by someone who has completely assumed the perspective of FDS, and I doubt that even the most feminist man on earth would write about himself and other men this way.

Not that it wouldn't be kind of cool to have a guy think like this, but do you think this would be the wording of someone who's stopped watching porn not even a month ago?

Plus, do we really have to defend FDS by inventing a token man who agrees with us? I'm saying no. This sub should teach people that we do not have to give a shit if men like what we're doing or not.
