The funniest thing about the sex strike is that by advocating for it, a woman would necessarily have to believe that sex is a reward for men's behavior. They really make it clear that they consider sex to be transactional--something that is given by women to men.

This is the thing that I've always made perfectly clear with all of my past sexual partners: if you're going to treat sex as a treat for me behaving "correctly," I'm not interested. I don't want sex because it's my birthday, I don't want sex because I took you out to dinner, and I don't want sex because I helped you move. I want sex because you also want to have sex with me in a mutually enjoyable capacity.

Like, they've managed to completely rip the intimacy out of sex. I imagine the guys they date are fine with it, primarily because the guys they date can't do any better.

I honestly don't understand what they think they're accomplishing. They post about how their partners--if they care about women--should be on board and should enthusiastically abstain from sex. If that's the case and it's not intended to be punitive against men (which is stupid anyway, since half of men are pro-choice and half of women are pro-life), then it's just two people in a relationship choosing not to have sex for a time, and that choice impacts literally nothing outside of their own household. The whole point of a strike is to apply pressure to the group you're trying to influence, so if that's not what they're doing, what's the point?

I believe it comes from movies and tv shows that men cannot live without sex. Men don't need it. Besides, they will break up with you if they realise that now the sex is gone, your contribution to relationship is not up to the standard. Most of the time, sex compensates for it.

I haven't read it. But speaking as a married man, it really has a simple solution, should my wife choose to implement it; full stop of all spousal support services...no more squishing spiders, opening jars, listening to her about her day or venting, helping with her animals, or any number of other things, all while finding reasons to be outside of the house every night pursuing things that matter more than her due to the position she has deliberately (hypothetically) put herself in.

The thing to remember is that, more often than not, women need us far more than we need them. If they choose to try to leverage what little need we actually have, they may find themselves with a rash of unintended consequences.

All of that said, my wife mostly despises feminism, so I suspect she would not even consider trying this.

But for those who are tied to women who would consider it, I would encourage you to embrace the same approach and go on strike. And when they inevitably lose their shit, because the only likely participants of such nonsense would likely respond in such a manner, remember a simple script, which should be delivered in a cool, firm, and dispassionate manner:

"If you want more from me, you can start by doing more for me."

I think it's weird that these woman think it's something to reward men for or something that all men care about. For me it's really either A, I don't care if I get sex. And if I did care, and my girlfriend wasn't providing it I would simply do B, which is cheat. Don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm sure anyone who sees r/sexstrike like it's a trip to Fiji, they've got no place in a marriage. Now, regardless of what is believed of Roe V. Wade, it was done fairly.

Side note: we shouldn't be fixated on abortion laws. Abortion is wrong, no doubt. Now, not all wrongs are illegal. However, we should be focusing on sexual education and better, safer, and more accessible birth control methods. Imagine if a woman could stop her menstrual processes and keep those eggs from taking hikes without needing surgery and a plastic wish bone with a tail shoved into her uterus. If this was reversible and cheap, women wouldn't need abortions unless they were raped or underaged. So bang, two birds, one stone. Science is the best solution for any problem.

Now, I digress. It seems like a huge chunk of marriages aren't exactly healthy. Now if women genuinely think that men can't survive without their oh-so-sacred vaginas, they're wrong. Even husbands still use porn. Reality check: men have always been used to being alone, sex is infinitely harder for us to obtain than women, and in general we're quite flexible. I've read some posts from women that have health issues that would make for a difficult or dangerous pregnancy. I can't blame them for not wanting sex. I do think that more people are opting for sterilization now more than ever in these specific states. And for good reason.

The problem is it doesn't seem like they're trying to Target those women married to the individuals who could help change things. They're just trying to recruit regular everyday women from the looks of it. Women whose husbands have absolutely zero to do with what the Supreme Court does. I work in IT, I'm not part of a Supreme Court, House of delegates, member of Congress, onl my kids PTA committee, hell I don't even get a vote on what we're going to have for dinner! My wife isn't part of the strike, in fact she thinks it's stupid, but if she were part of the strike what exactly would I be able to do about it? What impact would it have other than strain the relationship between she and I? From a regular working class husband, I can tell you what it would do is make me very reluctant to want to do shit for her around the house or even really be around her. Marriage is about taking care of each other, loving each other, and helping to meet each other's needs for attention, affection,, stability, and everything else. Once one of the partners begins opting out of those things the whole thing is likely to begin a downward slide. For example if I decided that I no longer felt like listening to my wife talk about her day or have any sort of meaningful communication, it would definitely cause issues. Women need communication. They want to talk, and need to feel like they are being heard. If I were to do that, I can guarantee the response would be immediate and she would feel reluctant to want to meet any of my needs. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that there will be an equal opposite reaction by men when women do what they're doing. So yes I do believe it will help destroy their marriages.

I haven't. But given how SCOTS has been (mis)behaving, and likewise certain US states, I could certainly see doing a sex strike, and/or boycotting certain states, or taking other appropriate measures to (at least attempt to) influence and change the current situation.

With women cutting out sex with their partners there will definitely be less need for abortions. At least this may get them to think about using their bodies as a tool and regard it more closely and intimately and more protectively when they have sex. Sex should be mutual and thought out more intimately shared and not simply used to lure someone into doing something or simply using it to get their way. Sex should be mutually shared and enjoyed by both partners.
