The fact that no one can tell if this is fake is troubling. First, the (presumably) female Twitter user has no idea how to structure a joke if this is supposed to be a troll/satire. Humour has been plagued by "it's satire" defences likely forever, but very prominently this last decade on both sides. The people who claim this defence never explain the joke. Intent has to be made clear.

"Saying X thing ironically" doesn't work in text, and doesn't represent how we talk to each other. I have no choice but to believe this is real because of how it is written. Sadly, invoking BLM makes it more real to me.

Secondly, this has got to be everyone's Twenty-Thousandth contextless Tweet about an extreme feminist talking point. I think it's fine content on the sub, don't get me wrong, but this culture war has been escalating for almost 10 years, and we're no closer to the end than we were in 2012.

Forgive the caps lock, but WHEN WILL THIS END? I'm starting to worry it never will. They keep squeezing into areas of influence and power. We have a cockroach and bedbug infestation and are currently burning down our house to get rid of them. Does that make sense to anyone else?

If serious, the author doesn't see men as individual human beings, but rather as some kind of group where guilt is shared by association. Or to put it another way, she knows nothing about actual men, who are much more varied and who don't tend to associate in that kind of way. We don't naturally form mutual support groups like women tend to do. In the unlikely event that we even hear about bad behaviour by some men, we don't tend to condone or excuse it. (We might try to understand it, which I know some confuse with acceptance, which it most certainly is not. If something is broken, men tend to be the ones who try to fix it, instead of just throwing it away, and that applies to people too.)

It’s funny cause my ex did something like this to me. She want to move out and didn’t want to be in the lease anymore. I told her I would help her look for someone to move in and take her spot. A few days later I get a text from this 50 year old dude she’s hooking up with saying they they would file a sexual assault charge against me and ruin my career if I didn’t take her off (mind you her and I are 23.) I don’t have money for a lawyer but I asked a few friends of my folks who are lawyers in other states for advice. They told me to take her off the lease and pay both rents as the charges would cost a lot more to battle. It’s crazy that people can actually be this cold hearted and abuse the fact that I’m a guy and she’s a girl to get what they want.
