Hello. I think when people describe the ideal guy who is cool collected and confident, most of us understand this in isolation, or as part of a friend's group.

What I am having difficulty comprehending is how would this ideal guy (or close to it) that most talk about here behave in a relationship, in the beginning, as it progresses, when they move together and have to make decisions, dealing with in-laws and finally when they decide to have their 2.5 kids.

Doesn't the man have to at some point take or seize authority while under the assumption that his final word is the more competent? Doesn't he bear more responsibility if and when things go wrong with the relationship, the household, the kids.

Also there can't really be such a thing as an equal egalitarian relationship. What you're actually saying is the man ultimately defers to what's best for the woman's wellbeing and what she would like to happen. So in that regard yes female led relationships are more prevalent now, they work for a short while but I'd argue eventually and inevitably something goes wrong.
