The whole thing is there' far less "real" women on there than it appears. And many of the real women who are on there are not really actively trying to date.

Not to say that people don't manage to hookup on there. But if most men knew the actual gender ratio of OLD they would be right back down at the sportsbar hitting on fat chicks

We caught a glimpse of it with the OKCupid study.

To give you an idea: OKCupid took that post down (men saw it for what it was, and that was inconvenient for the maintenance of The Narrative), and no other dating site has bothered to do anything similar since.

Men need to be kept in ignorance - we need their labor until the robots come.

The last stats I saw showed that meeting online is now the most popular way to meet, surpassing other ways such as through friends or work or school.

Blue pillers like to pretend that women online magically turn into different creatures with wildly different preferences. Or that only a small subset of "shallow" women use these apps who are somehow totally different to most other women. This is just frankly retarded.

I think the only difference in online is that whatever preferences existed in the first place get exaggerated 10x, since women can be as free as they like. If guys are thirsty in real life they are 10x thirsty online. If girls are picky in real life they are picky 10x more so online. If looks are important in real life they are 10x more important online. If women are hypergamous in real life they are 10x more so online. Online allows women to act out their deepest desires, its a more true representation of what they really are.

They’re running a business. By definition, that means their goal is to make a profit. They aren’t going to release any “data” that would make their customers not pay that fee every month or would drive their traffic down, thus losing advertising dollars. If you trust anything they say, you’re naive.

The nature of online dating is different to that of real life dating. I think the data from these sites is reliable as it pertains to online dating but should be taken with a grain of salt as it pertains to real life interactions.

An average confident guy in person will have more success than an above average shy guy online.

As a guy I don't care. I use online dating and if you're in a big city you can get plenty of matches and if you're a good conversation over text then its simple getting dates. Even if there are more men online I don't mind.

Honestly, for the real world? Not that much. The average guy or gal isn't on any of those, and the man:woman ratio is stilted beyond belief, so the results would be ridiculous too.

You have to consider all the data in its specific context.

Like, if you look at Tinder's data, you have to consider: this is the data for when you shove a picture in a man or woman's face and say: DO YOU WANT TO FUCK THEM SAY YES OR NO RIGHT NOW RIGHT FUCKING NOW TELL US TELL US YOU BITCH

The answer to that is... possibly interesting... but also possibly uninformative.

It would be controversial, given it would show racial preferences from men & women, and those preferences would generally not be flattering to social justice warriors.

Something like :

Attractive to semi-attractive white men get swiped right by more women of all races than minority men. (This is not controversial).

White, Asian, & Hispanic women who look more ambiguous get swiped right more by men of all races. (This is controversial).

It would also highlight the obvious, average/below average women get swiped right significantly more than average men. (Not controversial).

Not much for analyzing general population.

1) Uggos often avoid OLD therefore an average OLD user is more attractive than an average human.

2) Low N count women who find their LTR through OLD remove the app once they found LTR material. Hence, the proportion of high N count women is much greater there than in general population.

3) Many men desperately swipe right without looking at photos on bots and women they'd not date. Therefore, we can't really use 43% of men's swipes are right swipes data to tell average men actualy find 43% of female Tinder users attractive.

4) Many attractive guys get swiped left because of gym selfies, terrible picture quality, etc. Therefore we can't really tell average women find only 14% of male Tinder users atrractive (e.g. if they saw them IRL).

TBH, points 1-2 are appliable to bars, night clubs, etc. as well.

Hypergamous. I had to look up the word. Born in the 50ies. Grown up in the US but from 18 in Denmark. I have never chosen a man with economy in mind. Maybe American women of little education and a Bible Belt manipulated mind would make a plan for this. Likewise same class of male looking / hoping he is polygamous. It’s all in your mind. And all very American. Get your head out of your ass and travel and be curious about the world. It’s will open your mind and create knowledge. Of course then adamant t “truths” spouted from the farty smelling little cocoon you live in will seem quite embarrassing. OLD is no miracle

Anyway most people on OLD sites aren't really using it as their only source of dating prospects.

Extremely valuable because the data tells you actual preferences based on peoples' actions in private (revealed preferences in economics speak). This is way better than surveys because survey respondents can be biased, or lie based on who is asking the question, or lie because they don't want to voice anything unpopular.

It's probably VERY interesting. So interesting in fact that it'll probably never get released because it would discourage the men using the apps. I wouldn't surprised if the 80/20 rule trotted out here all the time is being generous.

Of course, if they released it, a lot of people would just be in denial about it.

The success of OLD users is just that; it's a poor translation to real-life dating success. I've *literally* met by chance someone whose message I'd let slide in OLD and been much more attracted to them in person. I've had tinder dates where I was psyched and then met them and immediately felt "ew." Doing well on dating apps is more about how photogenic you are and your texting abilities than anything else. Actually going on a date with someone, these qualities are irrelevant.
