So on another thread I got some criticism for defending passport bros as I don't think there's anything inherently exploitative about such situations. The major criticism is that these women are poor so the man has leverage over her.

I pointed out that many relationships have some degree of leverage since two people are unlikely to be close in all hierarchies. A richer partner knows they will be more provided for if the relationship ends. A more attractive partner knows they can obtain sex easier. A more charismatic partner knows they can obtain company easier.

I also pointed out that just because someone has leverage doesn't mean they will abuse it. For instance, there are plenty of stories of men continuing to support their partners when the relationship ends so they can transition to independence. So one partner having leverage, in my view, only provides the potential for abuse.

The rebuttal was that the leverage men have over poor women is stark in comparison to the west where many countries have financial safety nets. These women are desperate, the men know that, and therefore it's exploitative.

That got me thinking, because there is a group in the west that is desperate: Onlyfans simps. If one reviews various Onlyfan content creator support forums, you see women discussing maximizing revenue with little regard for how it may affect their lonely clients.

Let's be frank, although according to a study many Onlyfans users are actually married, there is a substantial demographic of lonely, unwanted men. Creators hook these guys with pretend girlfriend experiences, often advertsing on Tinder or other dating websites. In some cases they aren't even the people messaging these men. In extreme cases, to the knowledge of the creators, men have run themselves into financial difficulties to pay for these services.

Unlike passport bros, where I can conceive that both parties may well be genuinely happier and in a better place due to such relationships, it's hard to envisage men being benefited my spending money on Onlyfans. Do women think Onlyfans creators exploit lonely men?
