I agree. I consider myself average at best but the only women that contact me are 10 years older, obese and live 50 miles away. I don't try for the most attractive women because I know I'm not good enough but even average women seem to they think they deserve a 6ft tall 6figure guy. What is the deal these days?

There’s even pictures of me in the comments because I got messages off people saying I was probably ugly and that fat girls were all I should hope for. I didn’t post the pictures to try and suggest I was a male model, I posted them because as I said in my OP I feel like I’m an average guy and I wanted to see if anyone could empathise with my experience.

IMO online dating is trash, but as you also say OP, men have a lot of the responsibility for this. But beyond this, what’s “average” for a man, especially online, has definitely increased in standard. Whereas what’s “average” for a woman seems to have decreased. It’s a bad position for single men in the dating market to be in.

I have seen how many matches my women friends and my exs have got. Dating apps are just highly competitive and filled with desperate men.

It's by design. The purpose of dating apps is making money. About 94% of paying members are men. If men aren't struggling, why would they want to pay for premium features?

The way dating apps work, the average men are the targets. They use women as baits. Of course the women won't stay if they can't get Chads. So Chads are used as baits for women and Chads are happy because they can bang lots of women. Meanwhile average men get almost nothing and in desperation pay for premium features. I've never used dating apps myself, this is just my observation.

No one ever thinks they're below average. On reddit you'll notice a lot of average people and even more above average people, but oddly enough hardly anyone is below average.

Move to Southeast Asia where you don't have to put up with this crap. I'm well into middle age and routinely date 8+ in their early to mid 20s in SEA. Asian women have different challenges to date but it's nothing like Western masculine, aggressive FDS fat-nasties with ridiculously long lists of contradictory dealbreakers who "know their worth".

Don't solely put the blame on men when women contributed just as much to it. Sure, simping and inflating the ego of average women, making them believe they are higher than they are is mens fault, no doubt about it. But women accelerated this by demanding more and more, clearly expressing that they want to date someone who is absolutely perfect in any way and treating any man who fails to meet those insane standards as trash. Its almost satirical how women demand to be treated as humans yet refuse to date actual humans who might have some flaws.

Most women in America ( well both men and women tbh, but since we're talking about women) are overweight or obese...so if a thin or healthy-weight woman is on a dating app, and she's relatively attractive, you're not going to be the only one trying to talk to her, and will definitely have some competition especially since men greatly outnumber the women on there to begin with.

A 5/10 face? No offense but you’re unattractive. Being fit is great but you’re still considered unattractive. I’m not sure why this sub puts so much emphasis on weight when facial features matter the most. You should try meeting women on your level in person.

There is less interest from women in casual sex than from men, this naturally leads to women picking the best offer instead of competition making them have to pick men onn their level. Average men never had and never will have lots of casual sex. They get sex in relationships.
