NASA spokeswoman Lauren Worley said the agency has “no reason to doubt its authenticity.” “In 1962, the requirements for being an astronaut included being a military test pilot with a degree in engineering,” Worley said. “More than 50 years later, NASA’s astronaut corps reflects our nation’s diversity. The latest class of astronauts is made up of 50 percent women and 50 percent men.”

If it's 50 percent women and 50 percent men then how is it fair to have an all women space walk? Why is that an achievement of some kind
[–]Epicsnailman 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I mean, originally all the astronauts were supposed to be women. Because they’re smaller and consume less resources. But that was seen as too politically radical, and was shot down.
[–]camdoodlebop 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Do you have any source for that?

“The Woman in Space Program began as an Air Force project that grew out of two researchers’ interests in women’s capabilities for spaceflight. Because, on the average, women are smaller and lighter than men are, scientists speculated that they might make good occupants for cramped space vehicles. In 1960, Dr. William Randolph "Randy" Lovelace II and Brig. General Donald Flickinger invited award-winning pilot Geraldyn "Jerrie" Cobb to undergo the physical testing regimen that Lovelace’s Albuquerque, New Mexico Foundation had developed to help select NASA’s first astronauts.”

Remember when she met Sir Edmund Hillary in 1995 and then said she was named after the first man to climb Mount Everest?
She said that her mother had read about the one-time beekeeper who had started mountain climbing while she was pregnant with Hillary. Her mother liked the name because it had two l's and she thought that was how it should be spelled. Hillary did not become famous for climbing Everest until 1947, 6 years after she was born. While it's not impossible that her mom could've read about some obscure New Zealander beekeeper turned mountain climber. Snopes scrutinized several papers including the Rodham's hometown newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, and couldn't find any evidence that the mountain climber was profiled.
It wasn't in her 2003 autobiography, but it was in Bill's published in 2004. Later someone from the Clinton camp backpedaled and said that Hillary's mother only told her that to inspire her daughter to "great results I might add."
Truth is she lied.

Went to r/quityourbullshit and bullshit called, not on Clinton, but the reply tweet. Per u/castor281:
”Okay lets break this down.
Clinton born October 26, 1947
NASA created in July 29, 1958 - Clinton is 10 years old
Project Mercury approved October 7, 1958 - Clinton 19 days from being 11 years old.
NASA announces first astronaut candidates April 9, 1959 - Clinton is 11 years old.
Alan B. Shepard becomes first American in space May 5, 1961 - Clinton is 13 years old.
JFK announces moon landing goal May 25, 1961 - Clinton is 13 years old.
So this guy is off about the first American in space by 1 calendar year and Clinton's age by 2 years. Yeah I'm gonna have to call bullshit. Even if some of you assholes think a 15 year old isn't a little girl, Clinton was 10-13 years old during these events so fuck off.”

NASA sending a rejection letter to a girl certainly seems unlikely, but its not really a quit your bullshit unless you're disproving them with evidence to back it up. Otherwise you're both just bullshitting.

Yes. NASA has stated that it would be consistent with their policy in the 60's. Sally Ride, the first American woman astronaut, received someone else's 1962 "not accepting women at this time" letter as a thank you for breaking the gender barrier, and its text is consistent with Clinton's story.

As an outsider looking in Trump’s victory seemed inevitable, almost from the day he announced he was running. In Europe we were having a constant debate about mass immigration and it was around the time tens of thousands of refugees were being trafficked into Europe across the Mediterranean. The mood across the whole West was one of pessimism—that it couldn’t continue to absorb all these newcomers. Trump was the only person who vocalized on immigration what hundreds of millions of “normal” westerners believe about the subject: that immigration law has to be followed, that immigrants should adapt to the culture of their hosts, etc. etc.
You can talk about the rights and the wrongs of that, but that’s why he won. And that’s why Brexit won, too. And the right will continue to win elections as long as the left ignores the elephant of illegal and mass immigration in the room.
[–]ryanthesoup 62 points63 points64 points 4 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
The way I look at that is that my ancestors, from numerous racial and ethnic backgrounds, had to learn english and forego quite a bit of their former cultural identity in order to get along in the new world. If that weren't the case my father's side would still be speaking gaelic, scots, french, and kikongo. My mother's side would still be speaking czech, german, polish, russian and arabic.
They made the cultural and linguistic sacrifice to better assimilate into the country they immigrated to, and they ended up benefiting immensely for having done so.
One of the best things I've ever been told when going into a new job was that I needed to focus on bending myself to the industry before I ever even thought about bending the industry to myself. Gotta walk before you can run. Majority rule vs minority rights, in a just society it's a compromise.
[–]tyedrain 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A highway & manufacturing made my moms side of the family finally learn english for better jobs that didn't involve hunting, fishing,& fur trading. From 1779-1940s the only people you would have been able to communicate to in english were the people traveling to the city to sell their wares according to my grandmother.

I can tell you as an insider, him winning the nomination, not even mentioning the presidency, seemed unfathomable. I honestly believe most of the US felt that way too.
I don't disagree with you on the fact that he gained a lot of votes talking about issues politicians had been ignoring... the rust belt, manufacturing, long drawn out military conflicts, immigration (the GOP was split on immigration up until Obama's presidency... GW Bush was working on an amnesty deal while president and nearly every predominant Democrat from <2008 was staunchly against illegal immigration) with that said, I don't think that's why he won the nomination... he won it because of the huge field of uninspiring republicans running against him in the primary. every time one of these people would drop off the radar, some of their support would go to trump and the rest to another candidate. even after he won the nominations, there were a ton of traditional republican voters who were supporting the libertarian candidate Gary Johnson. I think he won, more so because of the number of people who didn't want Clinton than really wanted him, but i guess it's all conjecture.
[–]RealJyrone 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I have a feeling that he is probably going to get a much bigger and stronger vote this next election.
[–]uzikaduzi -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I hear a lot of people say that... I honestly can't see it. 52%of the country supports the impeachment preceding. The only possibility of him winning is a claim of the "silent majority" which the GOP has invoked every election since Nixon coined the term.
with that said, every single feeling i've ever had about a presidential (or even the party nominations for presidency) has been wrong going all the way back to Clinton v Dole. I am quite literally batting zero in predicting these contests.
[–]RealJyrone 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
1: There is a pretty big silent majority.
2: Many Trump supports will claim the opposite of what they believe solely to screw up polls. Same with the 2016 election.
3: It heavily depends on where these polls were conducted. How many people did they poll? Did they poll in a big city? If they polled in a big city, the odds of Trump winning with results like that from a big city are probably even greater.
I know my family was not polled, therefor they did not poll the entire country.
[–]uzikaduzi 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
for sure... there is error in polling because polling isn't a census and obtaining a truly random and accurate representation of the entire population is likely closer to an art than science but a few things.
1.) I don't doubt that there is some sizable portion of the population who prefers not to share their political beliefs or that it might skew right heavily, but higher turn out almost always benefits Democrats. so if it exists the way it's traditionally referred to, it's not been mobilized since Reagan.
2.) i don't doubt there are a number of trump supporters who would do what you say, but the 2016 polls, while wrong, were not wildly so the closer we got to the election. if the 52% for impeachment is close at all, it's likely nearly 100% of Democrats and the remainder is Republicans who feel disenfranchised by Trump... it doesn't take many of them to add to the Democrats to form a majority.
3.) honestly every time a poll doesn't look favorable to someone they question the sampling methodology. It's not wrong to do that, but it's tough to arm chair this sort of thing without a strong statistics back ground. according to the last census, ~80% of Americans live in cities and only ~20% live in rural areas. to get a representative sample you would want similar proportions.
I'm not saying he won't win... just that I can't see it. The way it "feels" is that he has a strong base which he's always had, but is more polarizing by the day, meaning the stronger his support from his base, the stronger the remainder of the population becomes in disliking him. That doesn't seem like a recipe for success; however, I'm not going to bet anything on it... as I said before, I'm batting zero on this type of thing
[–]wateryonions 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ahh yes. The polls. Remember how accurate they were last election? 0% chance of trump winning.
People still believe these bullshit polls?
[–]Wheream_I 22 points23 points24 points 4 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link
Same. I voted third party because I’ll be damned if I vote for either Hillary or Trump, but I wasn’t about to leave a vote for the president empty.
In 2016 I didn’t even go to really vote for the president. I went so I could vote for city, county, and state level reps; the reps that actually affect your day to day the most.
[–]domenickpalmieri 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Please don’t hate me, I choose not to vote because I haven’t been into politics until recently, so I’m not well informed. When you vote for a third party, aren’t you 100% sure that vote is going to nothing since it’s pretty clear it’ll either be the republican or democratic candidate who wins? I get that you don’t want to support either one, which is 100% valid, but why not just not vote if you’re vote is basically going to nothing? What’s the benefit of one over the other?
Again this isn’t a criticism it’s a legitimate question. I know it can be read as a criticism so I want to emphasize it isn’t.
[–]DomesticChaos 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
If you reread that particular comment you’ll see there are more candidates to vote for that actually matter to the poster. It’s not as if he went to spoil a ballot for no reason whatsoever.
[–]domenickpalmieri 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
No I understand that, it’s a rational decision, I’m sure and not just a “protest” against the main parties. I’m just wondering what the benefit is of voting for another party when you know they won’t win. Does that party get more recognition if the vote is higher? Does that party benefit from your vote even though they’ll lose the election? Those kinds of things.
[–]blasbo-babbins 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think that people SHOULD vote for third parties if they really want to, because each time the third party gets a bigger vote, they’ll get more recognition. Maybe 3.5% this year, 3.8% next election, 4.3%... if the two major parties continue to go off the deep end it may start to rise and actually become a prominent option to vote for third party
[–]SharedRegime 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Voting is your right and you can exercise that right by not voting as well. Its perfectly legitament to not vote due to being uninformed.
[–]TheYoungGriffin 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
If all those people who chose not to vote because they don't like the 2 main choices voted for the green party, then maybe they'd stand an actual chance. But honestly, and this is an unpopular opinion, I think less people should vote. Specifically, the uninformed. Too many people choose to vote for someone just because they "seem like you could drink a beer with them" or because they're a woman or because they're black or because we should try "running the country like a businessman, not a politician". Again this is the unpopular opinion, but if you're not well informed, don't vote.
[–]domenickpalmieri 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I sort of agree with you and that’s why I choose not to vote. I’m not informed enough. I don’t know these people or their backgrounds or their intentions or their connections, and I genuinely don’t have the time to find out. And I’ll be damned if I watch the news to find out, they all have an agenda. So I choose not to because I just don’t have the time to do my own research. So that sort of hits to your point
[–]TheYoungGriffin 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You could also just commit and be convinced of a felony. Boom, no more right to vote or jury duty ever again.
[–]Tha_shnizzler 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I get that you don’t want to support either one, which is 100% valid, but why not just not vote if you’re vote is basically going to nothing? What’s the benefit of one over the other?
People usually do it so they can maintain a sense of moral superiority over those who voted for the worst candidate as well as those who voted for “least bad” candidate of the options who realistically had a chance of winning.
They may not say it themselves and they may give other (illogical/impractical) reasons to do it, but I believe the majority of people who vote 3rd party or write someone in do it for this reason.
[–]domenickpalmieri 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That makes perfect sense as an explanation, but awful sense for a reason to vote for someone. Just don’t vote at that point
100% sure that vote is going to nothing

[–]Voriki2 27 points28 points29 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Not a US citizen, so I may be wrong. I firmly beliveed neither Clinton nor Trump were good candidates, but that Trump would fuck up bad(like he has been doing), but his fuckups would be corrected after 4 years of a next decent president.
Hillary on the other hand would have fucked up more behind the scenes, secret deals, things that wouldn't come up for years to come, and after several years the whole country would have paid the price for it, taking multiple terms to rectify.
So imo Trump was the lesser evil because it was obvious and more predictable.
[–]shinigamiscall 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm plenty old enough to remember a non-SJW time, or at least when SJW's were less mainstream and more fringe. I had my fair share of locker room banter in the men's locker room in high school.
But it's not what I thought of it, not my judgement of it. It's how I perceived the rampant PC culture reacting to it. At the time of the last election you'd have thought the media and the left were literally going to shit pants. Not really, it more came down to which candidate would fuck up the US the least. Majority ruled that some reality TV star was less likely to ruin the States than an incredibly corrupt politician. How Trump even got into the final election is a large mystery to me, as there were several very good Republican candidates in the primaries. I would guess the majority voted for him for the meme in the primaries, and then seriously questioned their life decisions afterwards as the new president would be either him or some crazy bitch. Honestly a difficult decision.

Honest question here. I’m not interested in discussing anything else you commented on. How does it benefit the USA to have Jerusalem, or any other city, the capital of Israel? You deemed that significant enough to mention it alongside other feats like employment, tax cuts, Supreme Court justices, etc. so it must be significant to you. Why is that, and how does that help us?
[–]arrogantwhitemale 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for the question. Israel is the only democracy in the middle East and a key ally, possibly our most important in the world. Every president in the past 50 years has promised the Americans that we would move our embassy there and we finally passed an actual law to do so back in the mid 90's, but every president since then broke their promise and ignored the law until finally DJT came to town and kept his promise to the American people :)
[–]Montallas -2 points-1 points0 points 4 years ago (13 children) | Copy Link
Not sure what to say - but I really strongly disagree with a lot of your justifications here.
1) Saying Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East is at least up for debate. Several other nations have democratic legislatures - and Israel has a horrible human rights record that goes against many of the tenants of democracy. But EVEN IF we take your word for it - why would being the only democracy in the Middle East warrant the level of support we provide for them? How is that even justification?
2) there are plenty of other instances where a country is “the only democracy in _____(region)” (Tunisia in North Africa) but we don’t provide a similar level of support. If this is such an important criteria, why is it not consistently applied? It seems like we would be better off supporting democracies in Eastern Europe, sub-Saharan Africa, south-East Asia. We have historically supported democracies in these regions - but none even close to the level we support Israel.
3) without a shadow of a doubt, the UK is our most important ally in the world. Even if you called Israel #2 (not sure that I would), it would be a far second. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/02/03/upshot/which-country-do-americans-like-most-for-republicans-its-australia.html
I, personally, don’t agree with the very concept of Israel. I think that they have zero right to be there and they are committing atrocities against the Palestinians. Their justification is completely arbitrary and I’d see the lot of them tried for war crimes. The very existence of a Israel seems to me to go in the face of every conservative ideal one could espouse. The fact that my tax dollars are supporting their occupational regime is very upsetting to me - and I just can’t fathom how other “conservatives” could support Israel in the slightest. It doesn’t jive with the conservative ideals I was taught.
I appreciate your response - but it has not shed any light on this topic for me.

Ya, it's a long conversation and I appreciate the conversation. The Jews v Palestine can go on for days. How about let's just leave it at ever president promised and we actually passed a law in 1996 I think it was and it took until Trump was elected to be bold enough to keep the promise to move our embassy to Jerusalem, where it belongs.
[–]Montallas 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
That’s got to be up there as one of the worst reasons to do something. Let’s go through two thought exercises. 1) it’s a good idea to move the embassy to Jerusalem, and 2) it’s not a good idea.
1) if it isa good idea to move the embassy, the reason to move it there is NOT because someone promised to in 1996 - the reason to move it there is for whatever good reason there is to move it there (which you haven’t given).
2) if it’s not a good idea to move the embassy there, just because someone promised to in 1996 , or 1896, doesn’t all of a sudden make it a good idea...
You’re using a logical device that is unfounded as your decision making tool. It’s faulty logic. “Because someone once thought it was a good idea” isn’t an argument for why something is a good idea. Even if it was “because everyone always thought it was a good idea” doesn’t mean something is a good idea. There needs to be a reasoned justification.
You say “where it belongs”. Why do you believe it belongs there? Even better - Why is it good for our country for it to be in Jerusalem. How does that improve the USA? Why should we waste our resources, our international goodwill, and corrupt our moral authority by supporting the Israeli regime that is engaged in a genocidal land grab against the Palestinians? How does that help the USA and why does the GOP support that?

[–]LandBaron1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
"The investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government in its election interference activities,” Mueller said. But: “We did not address ‘collusion,’ which is not a legal term. Rather, we focused on whether the evidence was sufficient to charge any member of the campaign with taking part in a criminal conspiracy. It was not"
Evidence was not sufficient to charge any member of the campaign with taking part in a criminal conspiracy.
[–]killer8424 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
“That’s an important distinction, between a colloquial term, collusion, and what Mueller’s team sought to determine, which was whether there was enough evidence to prove criminal conspiracy. Mueller is pointed: There was no determination on “collusion” — and there may have been at least some evidence pointing to possible conspiracy.”
You need to read more than just the first sentence.
[–]LandBaron1 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Okay, if Trump colluded with the Russians, as the Democrats and the media have been saying, how come Trump has been in office for almost 4 years now, and they haven't impeached him? If there was evidence that he colluded, then why hasn't he been impeached or arrested? And, like the article said, "there MAY have been at least SOME evidence pointing to possible conspiracy." That is not saying there is. That is saying its possible, which is very misleading, because anything is possible. Its possible he is the assassin for JFK. It is possible he is guilty of collusion and its possible he isn't.
[–]killer8424 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]SunTzusSh0es 31 points32 points33 points 4 years ago* (16 children) | Copy Link
At the end of the day, Trump didnt attack our democracy. Hillary did. Trump didnt rob 320 MILLION people of their democratic process and a chance of getting a real president (Bernie would have won). Hillary did.
- Election fraud in the primary. Nation wide, every single type imaginable. Ballots shredded, voter rolls changed, polling locations closed by the thousands, non-counting 'provisional' ballots given out to Sanders supporters.
- DNC collusion. Literally hand picking her. Lawyer who serves the DNC fraud lawsuit is assassinated with fentanyl, another opioid, and a muscle relaxer; likely via injection. (#Clintonbodycount)
- Multi-billion dollar MSM collusion. WaPo runs 16 attack ads on Bernie in 16 hours. All left leaning MSM outlets prop up Trump ON PURPOSE as a pied piper candidate. (thanks wikileaks)
- Banking collusion. Literally getting paid millions to tell banksters 'you should regulate yourselves' and 'its important to have a different public and private policy, lest people get upset with how you really feel'. (thanks wikileaks)
- Collusion with 609 superdelegates. Each has 10,000 weight to their vote. Thats SIX MILLION NINETY THOUSAND VOTES PRE CAST for Hillary.
Versus.. Russias 'facebook bot farm'? If you cant tell Hillary did 1000x more to attack your democracy than Trump did in 2016 you might be (are) fucking retarded.
Heres a fucking clue: If your candidate thinks HER TURN and her PUSSY PASS means more than YOUR DEMOCRACY then your candidate is probably a dogshit human being, not someone you should vote for. Hate to break it to you but having a pussy and not being Trump arent 'presidential traits'; despite that being literally her entire message for her campaign.
This, of course not taking into account that BY LAW that is plain as day in the USA if you mishandle classified data the punishment 'normal' non-rich / non-powerful people would get for her email horseshit, among other things, is being barred FOR LIFE from ever holding public office. Remember that one? Where she had her fucking husband talk to Loretta Lynch on the tarmac where they discussed how, when talking to the media; her INVESTIGATION should be called a "MATTER"? Because if her pussy pass isnt stronk enough her husband being an ex president sure as fuck is.
Bernie would have won. Youre dickriding an oligarch, despite the fact she both doesnt give a fuck about you or anyone you know, and despite the fact she literally is the number 1 reason you have Trump.
Maybe in 2020 you can join the rest of us in the age of information by not force feeding yourself CNN(or FOX)-grade propaganda. You might even learn something!
[–]LandBaron1 12 points13 points14 points 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Hey, and remember, the Russian collusion thing has been investigated since he got into term and it still hasn’t been proven. Most likely, there isn’t anything there because nothin actually happened. But, let’s just remember how the Democrats themselves have colluded with countries before, most recently, Ukraine.
[–]SunTzusSh0es 9 points10 points11 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Honestly I wouldnt doubt there was SOME Russian interference but when you compare it to the shit democrats did, from our own country, to themselves; its not even remotely close to even being worth talking about. Democrats shoved a steel pipe into the spokes of their bicycle, then just blame Russia after all is said and done. Not only do most loyal democrats slurp this shit up like its the best thing theyve ever tasted (admitting you fucked up isnt always easy), they also dodged the fuck out of learning ANYTHING about the REAL reasons they have Trump. Most of which being directly linked to Hillary.
Ive talked to literally thousands of Hillary voters. NOT ONE was able to LEARN new information, or show they learned ANYTHING about the candidate they love to dickride. Which is honestly pretty funny and kinda sad considering 'consciousness' requires both being 'awake' and 'reacting to stimulus'. Apparently you have to be unconscious to support her. Lol..
[–]LandBaron1 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Oh yeah. Definitely. And didn’t they prove there was Russian collusion between the Democrats as well? Trump, Russian collusion or no, is still better than having someone in office who is currently trying to destroy our country, who is corrupt, and who is a bad person all the way around.
[–]SunTzusSh0es 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How sad is it that people say X is bad, but the SECOND their own party does X; suddenly its:
- Is it REALLY so bad?
- Youre a conspiracy theorist.
- That never happened.
Prime example is the Clinton Foundation blatantly being a money laundering scheme. Tax evasion, circle jerking donations, taking bribes in return for power / influence, you name it. Loyal democrats? "HOW NICE OF THEM TO HAVE A CHARITY! HURRRRRR".
Ive said it many times: Loyal Hillary voters always have been, and always will be the dumbest group of fucks on the entire planet, hands down, bar none, not close. I would bet $$$ that any random 100 Trump voters could achieve a task faster and better than any random 100 Hillary voters. And probably win that bet every fucking time.
How many Hillary voters does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They'd rather be left in the dark.
[–]LandBaron1 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I didn't say she didn't. And she's a terrible person who doesn't know when to shut the fuck up for the good of her party. But Trump has zero morals, too. Doesn't make sense to say being president requires them but he became President anyway.
And let's not ignore the damage he's done. His poorly hidden profiteering at the expense of taxpayers alone would have had him removed from office a couple of decades ago when we weren't quite as polarized and numb to corruption.

She ran on 2 slogans.
"I have a vagina"
And
"I'm NOT Trump"
And she is actually baffled why she lost.
Apparently when you:
- Rig the primary election nation wide using every type of election fraud imaginable.
- Collude with the DNC. Lawyer who serves the DNC fraud lawsuit literally assassinated (#clintonbodycount) with fentanyl just 1 month after serving the court papers.
- Collude with 609 superdelegates. Each with 10,000 weight to their vote amounting to 6,090,000 votes pre cast for 1 candidate. Supremely ironic coming from the 'democracy is important, how dare Russia hurt our democracy' "DEMOCRATIC" party.
- Collude with bankers. Literally get paid millions to tell them 'you should regulate yourselves!' and 'its important to have a different public and private policy, lest people get upset with how you really feel'.
AND
- Collude with multi-billion dollar news outlets. Including WaPo who ran 16 attack ads on Bernie in just 16 hours.
... people get upset, and wonder where your loyalty lies.
Oh, and if you point any of this out, even as a REGISTERED DEMOCRAT 99% of 'loyal hillbots' will call you a republican conspiracy theorist, or more likely call you a Russian bot.
Because hot damn is propaganda really fucking effective on the average dumpster-brained LOYAL Hillary voter. Can you even imagine being so fucking stupid you would actually not only think Hillary is a good person, but PRESIDENTIAL as well? And making it through 2016 and thinking that RUSSIA is the reason why you have Trump and not HILLARY. Im actually never surprised at how braindead loyal Hillary voters can be. They have never, in my thousands of encounters with them; shown the capacity to meet the basic criteria for CONSCIOUSNESS. "AWAKE" "RESPONDING TO STIMULUS".
I'll leave you all with this: Elizabeth Warren explaining how Hillary learned the difference between right and wrong, TOOK A BRIBE, SOLD OUT AMERICA, AND DID EVIL. And then in 2016 she tells everyone to vote for her?? EXCUSE ME WHAT? Can you even imagine knowing with 100% certainty that someone is a dogshit, EVIL human being; then telling MILLIONS of people to vote for this person? Spineless cunt Pocahontas is Hillary lite.

I don’t understand this whole post. Can someone explain to me what’s going. With the guys response it still seems totally possible that she could have sent that letter?
[–]SalemWolf 6 points7 points8 points 4 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
This whole post and thread is people jerking off over how much they hate Hillary based on someone retarded who said something anti-Hillary.
While he’s right in the years of her birth and NASA’s formation the article this tweet is based around explains she wrote it in 8th grade so approximately in her teenage years. Definitely a few years after NASA was formed. This is 100% plausible.
[–]LandBaron1 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you, until the you say it’s 100% plausible. Yes, it’s possible she sent a letter, but her saying that they responded saying they don’t take girls, that’s prolly bs. I think someone said that the ratio of men and women in base is 50/50. Don’t quote me on that, because I am not positive. But the whole tweet is how they didn’t accept women, which I highly doubt actually happened.
[–]SalemWolf 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Plausible does not mean confirmed. Plausible means it’s entirely possible. It’s 100% possible it happened.
Also someone else in this thread linked a letter from the 60s they don’t hire women to be astronauts.
[–]LandBaron1 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I saw that letter, and if the one you are referring to is the same one I'm referring to, it wasn't the letter addressed to Hillary Clinton. Also, it said they didn't have any programs for women astronauts. Not that they were specifically keeping out women, but that they didn't have any programs for women.
[–]SalemWolf 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I don't think you understand what plausible means dude. I'm not saying it happened, I'm saying in the context of what Hillary said it's possible that it occurred. They sent out letters saying they didn't hired female astronauts, either because they didn't have programs for that or any variety of reasons, in the 1960s when Hillary would have likely sent one. Did she? No clue. I don't know. But considered the events, timeline, and that they did say they didn't have any female astronauts it's plausible that event occurred.
Furthermore, it's a tweet. 280 characters. You condense it down. Her saying they didn't hire for female astronauts is not necessarily wrong and considering everything I've seen if someone said Hillary did do that, I could believe it. It sounds like a possible event to have occurred, but I am not saying it absolutely did happen. Just saying, totally possible.
[–]LandBaron1 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
No, I agree with what you are saying. I’m just making sure we are on the same side about the letter.
[–]SalemWolf 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well for me to state it's 100% confirmed to have happened I'd need to see the letter with her name in it somewhere, until then I can only go with plausible. Which is as good as I can rate this claim.
I agree.
[–]bring_home_the_bacon 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
but her saying that they responded saying they don’t take girls, that’s prolly bs.
It's not 'prolly bs'. You're 'prolly retarded'. If you'd have bothered to read a little bit instead of writing your ignorant bullshit you'd have seen someone else post a picture of a letter from NASA saying they are only accepting male astronaut. Here, I'll make it easy for you:
https://i.imgur.com/1n8OyEG.jpg
[–]LandBaron1 -1 points0 points1 point 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I read that. The way she said it made it sound like they didn’t accept her only because of her sex. They said they don’t accept females because they don’t have programs for women.
[–]Tstorm11[🍰] 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
Let me say that I am absolutely not a fan of Hillary. Unfortunately letters of rejection on the basis of being a woman do exist from around the time Hillary would have been 15-16. Not proof that she sent a letter, but it is possible. https://i.imgur.com/1n8OyEG.jpg
[–]nicodiumus 47 points48 points49 points 4 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link
Would this letter also not make the account which at the time, the physical requirements, skill sets and the pool of candidates would be very specific? They were only using proven pilots from the USAF to build this program. So, to claim that they were not accepting female candidates into their astronaut program would be correct but for good reason. At the time, this particular pool of persons was exceptionally small. It is clear that this has changed over the years. But to call them bias would be like placing an employment ad for someone who required 10 years experience in engineering, and then having a someone claim it is bias because they have a degree in some completely unrelated field. I don't want someone to do open heart surgery if they only have a degree in English literature.

[–]TotoAfricaOnRepeat 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Not to mention the massive physical strain. They didn't want to have weak civilians to worry about and especially not shit like ripping your tits off from the G force. Of fucking course they weren't going to accept woman in a time of launching and praying nothing you did kills everyone.
It's like complaining about not allowing women in trench warfare.
They were only using proven pilots from the USAF to build this program. So, to claim that they were not accepting female candidates into their astronaut program would be correct but for good reason.
They could have said: After you become top 1% of the pilots in USAF. But that wasnt possible at the time.

As a historian, I had expressed doubt because in the subsequent half century not a single copy of any such letters had ever appeared. After much searching, NASA archivists recently did find another letter to another girl that fit Clinton's description. So the story in general is not impossible. www.jamesoberg.com
[–]pyrobryan 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not saying it's necessarily true, but she specified that she was in 8th grade when she wrote the letter, which would have made her around 13 years old (around 1960), and as others have pointed out, NASA didn't accept women in to the space program until the late 70's. So there's nothing terribly unbelievable about the story except that NASA would have written back to say "nO giRlS aLloWEd", which still isn't impossible.
[–]PrussianCollusion 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I don’t quite understand why this can’t be true, timeline-wise. Per Wikipedia:
“The first known formal use of the term astronautics in the scientific community was the establishment of the annual International Astronautical Congress in 1950, and the subsequent founding of the International Astronautical Federation the following year.”
The first group of astronauts were publicly named as such by NASA in 1959, when she was 12. I mean I can’t stand that woman and it’s most likely bullshit, but the timeline makes sense.

Was the concept of being an astronaut so removed from reality for people in the 50s? No, I don't think so.
What is the meaning of "little girl" here by Clinton? Surely someone who has lived as long as her could be referring to an age bracket such as 8-17. You are still a "little girl" when you are an edgy teen. If Hilary wrote this at the upper end of this age domain, the letter would be 1964 even. This is even around the age where you are forming your educational aspirations.
This isn't removed from reality, nor is it even that crazy. I've never been a Hilary-apologist before (you can even check my comment history), but this SICK BURN comes from someone whose rhetoric is really not all that impressive.

Honestly, like others said, her whole slogan was, “It’s time for a woman,” and “I’m not Trump.”

Okay but it’s generally accepted that this is accurate... she says she was 14 or 15 when she did it. So? Keep cirlclejerking over fake news

Okay but it’s generally accepted that this is accurate
And? Until I see fucking proof, she's lying. No letter for someone else, like all these bullshitters are posting but for her specifically.
No I'm not biased I do that for every damn politician out there because 99.999% lie through their teeth every chance they get.

Heaven forbid you read the fucking linked article lmfao
[–]xRisingSunx 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
Heaven forbid YOU read it because I sure did and it does not support your bullshit or hers lol.
Ms. Kelly =/= Ms. Rodham
Also no records exists of that letter being sent in the NASA archives. Could easily be a fake to get mass media attention about what is nowadays a controversial subject (which it did).
But that is why you posted a vague answer like "GueSs U diDn't reAD iT" instead of citing facts to support your claims, because there aren't any :)
Cya shithead /BLOCKED. Now make some whiny reply because i'll never see it lmao.
EDIT: Lol downvoted in record time. Let me guess, you replied anyway like a dumbass. I'll guess again, your reply called me an "incel" or something other crap that still did not cite facts to support your bullshit.
How did I do? 100%?? Go me!
[–]LandBaron1 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Wait, they tried to say the letter was from Hillary? That’s stupid. How can anyone do something that stupid. It’s like their not even trying.

Actually she did write this letter. Vox obtained a copy of the letter and nasa's response
[–]DracoMagnusRufus 43 points44 points45 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You sure about that? Nothing relevant comes up when searching for "Vox Hillary Clinton NASA". No other articles show any indication of a letter being obtained either. In fact, I found an article debunking the idea that NASA keeps a record or that they would've said that to a girl writing in:
Nor is there any at NASA’s end, I was told by NASA Headquatrers spokesman Bob Jacobs in a recent email exchange. “As you might imagine,” Jacobs wrote, “NASA received thousands of letters from young and old alike asking about how to become an astronaut.” “As a matter of policy,” he explained, “correspondence with the public is not retained as a permanent record.” Consequently, he added, “NASA has no record of the letter”, elaborating that “it’s just not the kind of thing the agency would have tracked in ’61 or ’62.” “We do, however, have some examples of other letters and public statements by NASA officials that suggest in the early 1960s the guidelines and requirements for astronauts would have likely precluded women,” he added, “although they were not gender specific.” One sample letter that was retained, in 1966, followed that format. Written to a girl in Michigan who wanted to become a space veterinarian, the letter from William O’Donnell referenced a “list of prerequisites” to provided guidance for her selection of school subjects. The letter also advised her that by the time she became old enough to formally apply, the list “may have changed substantially.” It did not say she would never be picked because she was female. Clearly the letter was written as an encouragement to the girl, not a flat rejection that she shouldn’t even bother thinking about applying because she was female. The fact that she was a girl never came up in the letter, and actually the tone was sympathetic and supportive.

By 15.5 you are legally allowed to operate a motor vehicle. You are a high school sophomore by 15. You are 1 year away from being able to have a full drivers license, 3 years away from being a legal adult, and 6 away from being able to purchase and consume alcohol/tobacco products.
