I've been on plenty of first dates where I paid for everything. In several cases we'd talk for hours on the date, discuss a possible next date then they drop off the face of the earth with no explanation. Then I've also had experiences where after the first date they are straight forward and say "this probably won't work"

I absolutely agree that men need to learn to accept "No" when told it and not become a stalker or defensive when rejected. I am however a believer that it's common courtesy to at least tell the other party it's not working, maybe even tell them what they did wrong so they can correct.
