I love this idea, it's much more casual than a full on thread.

I want to know something about the married ladies here. How did you approach the hard subjects with your man before marriage. More specifically, the subject of divorce. How did you talk about your opinion of it, your moral stances and whether or not you had compatible ideas on it? Did it come up casually? Did it come up at all?

I have a question!! The man that I'm currently seeing --- he hates submissive women. Like....loathes it. He sees it as a weakness and wants a strong and self-reliant woman who can help him out with his goals and responsibilities. Now, we ladies at RPW are always talking about being submissive to our guys, but what if our guys don't want that, and they want someone who is more deferential....how do we determine the difference?

What is the difference between deference and submissiveness?

What are some more in-depth online sources for rpw specifically? Not just the home-making skills and such but discussions about concepts and theories.

Is the surrendered wife really worth the read or is it just glittering generalities and reworded material that I've already heard?

Who gives the downvotes???. I always assumed it was people with baby flair or endorsed members. Now that I have baby flair and no down arrow, is it just endorsed members? Or is it just moderators? I see posts getting downvoted so someone must have them....

Weird question, but do any of you watch The Mindy Project? There was an episode where she attempted to be a SAHM and found a website that basically guided her through what she needed to do on a daily basis and whatnot. That website was obviously invented for the show, but does anyone know a similar one? With a list of goals and daily cleaning schedules etc.

I understand that we are encouraged to be vulnerable with SOs and generally also when we are dating, but what about being vulnerable or open about things that are very personal and you don't want to talk about (just yet)?

For example being open about past illnesses (mainly mental health issues or episodes that have been resolved for the most part or are being actively worked on)? Things like that come up in conversation and the question is not intrusive or anything like that, but I find it extremely difficult to let a guy know I have had these issues unless I know them very well and trust them, so I just avoid it altogether and it can come across as a bit shady. I guess Im scared of what they'll think and the attached stigmas of this, or them not keeping things confidential especially if I don't know them well enough yet, but I understand this is a form of control too? Trying to elicit/prevent a certain response by withholding information?

Okay, this weird, and not really RPW, but whatever. How did you and your SO decide if you wanted children or not? My desire for kids basically revolves around my hormones. His desire for kids varies based on his stress level. We're still young-ish (25/24), so we have a little time to really decide. Is there something we should be doing to come to a conclusion? Thanks!

One concept that has always confused me is the advice "don't be his mom" about how you treat your SO. Because there's also advice about domestic cooking/cleaning/housekeeping skills. If you're picking up after him around the house and serving him meals isn't that mom behaviour? Anyway I've always felt that these contradict. Someone break it down for me please:)

A TL;DR series of events as follows:

A month ago, my boyfriend unexpectedly breaks up with me after a year long relationship. I didn't see it coming. He claims that he didn't feel the same way anymore.
Me = Cri, evrytiem. I fill my time with work so I don't have time to think. I haven't had a day off in 16 days and it doesn't bother me.
Unexpectedly, a wild, charming, new guy appears. We spend a day together in a professional setting and instantly hit it off. Sparks fly. No contact details exchanged, but we know how to find each other. I contemplate on seeing him, but I don't.
New guy can't find me on Facebook and asks about me to someone else.
Me = run.

Right now, the thought of getting close to another guy makes me sick. It doesn't excite me. I'm not yearning for the butterflies in my stomach or texts after dark. I don't feel like chasing or being chased.

I can't say that I am 100% over my ex because he did nothing bad to me. I don't hate him. He's not an asshole. He just didn't feel the same way as I felt about him and I can't change that. Unrequited love is seldom romantic.

That being said, I am over the relationship. It cannot be fixed. I've accepted that he doesn't want a future for us and we will never have a chance of getting back together.

So...

When is the right time to pursue new opportunities when they arise? Too soon means it's a potential rebound, but leaving it too late or letting it go is a missed opportunity.

AND

How do you let another man into your life once you've been broken up with? I'm not going to get batshit crazy and talk about how my ex hurt me etc. as a way to smooze my way out of something a bit more serious.

This is appearance-related rather than behavior-related, but I'm not sure where else to ask and get an honest answer--do most men really hate bangs/fringe to the extent that it could significantly shrink my dating pool? I'm looking to broaden my appeal appearance-wise (and personality-wise, but that's a little more in-depth and I need more research before I start asking questions) and I'm getting mixed messages from the internet at large about the subject.

Sorry if this is weird and petty, I just don't know where else to get honest feedback on this kind of question! I will try to contribute less shallow material in the future.

I'm 21 and in college studying engineering. I'll be graduating in 2016 and I'm pretty nervous for life after graduation. I've been in a relationship with a great guy for 2 years. He is smart, funny, and personable and I can see myself spending the rest of my life with him. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever find someone better. A few months back he mentioned that one of his friends is engaged. He couldn’t understand why (since he’s so young) and said he didn’t want to get married anytime soon. He’s also 21.

We have a really great relationship. However I don’t want to waste years on a relationship that isn’t going to end in marriage. What do you do in this situation?
