Oh girl, no…

Imagine having to verbally request affection from your husband, now imagine having to buy it. Ridiculous and embarrassing.

Why can’t men have cool hobbies like building furniture or fixing cars? Video games are just stupid. They create nothing and just make men fat, dumb and poor.

My father is in his seventies and his hobby is building furniture that he paints and then sells. He comes home with wood/metal for his next project and hands the cash from his sales to my mom.
Men like my father are a dying breed.
[–]Dracofaerie2 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think there's more to it than that. I know I've considered and rejected hobbies because of the high upfront costs. Woodworking is a huge financial investment in the tools and skyrocketing wood prices and that's before evaluating whether he has a place to do it. If not, he'll have to rent something which can be expensive.
Video games may reduce depression too, according to a 2019 NIH study.

I married a car guy. I cannot tell you what a relief it is whenever I'm dealing with vehicle problems. I see stuff about not dating someone who earns less on here, which only accounts for paycheck. my husband has skills that save us thousands even though he earns a bit less than me, as a mechanic. He's putting a new roof on our house this fall, too. The downside to car guys is they are always looking for a project vehicle, and your driveway can get full. On the other hand, you're never paying for a brake job.
[–]Some-Air9442FDS Newbie 28 points29 points30 points 4 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I count skills like that as income.
Also after he’s done fixing the roof he best be cleaning up the driveway and/or building another garage for his project cars. 😂

Sssssh, he doesn't need more ideas! He keeps talking about building a pole barn with a hoist to take on side jobs, and we would have to cut down some of our wooded acres for that. I don't want to lose my woods. 😂😂😂

Video games are exhausting. I played a lot when I was a kid but naturally petered out after college. Nobody told me, it just happened. I had more productive things to do, and I realized I felt like shit after an hour of playing. Idk how anyone tolerates the stress on the eyes or back from all that staring and sitting.

This is my favourite thing about my HVM fiancé. On his days off, he goes down to his workshop and he builds furniture for our home or to sell, and in his real down time he reads a book or plays with the kids so I can bath or read. It is such a relief since I’ve levelled up and don’t have to compete with an Xbox anymore (gag). But it’s unreal how common it is to come second place to a plastic box that they spend actual money on.

Exactly go build some shit instead of sitting on your gaming chair farting laughing with scrotes and shooting fictional characters
And these are the same men claiming women don’t see them as masculine- yeah it’s cos you’re an overgrown child buddy that’s why
Every immature male I have met is into gaming - no thanks bye bye.
Rather have a stallion who’s into his fitness and flipping houses or products on the side- that actually adds something to my life
[–]modernmedusaaRuthless Strategist 63 points64 points65 points 4 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link
Exactly?
Honestly I’d rather a dude was always in the gym than gaming - least he will have stamina
I don’t trust men on computers too long
If I’m being honest a man that is still gaming over 25 is a huge huge turn off- idgaf if it’s his passion. That’s irrelevant if I have my own preferences he does not fit into
It’s their whole mentality - they turn relationships into a point scoring game as well. They get very competitive and rage if they don’t win an argument. They see women as golden coins to win and over power and rage quit if they don’t.
It messes with their brain functioning. They need constant rewards and are quite aggressive if they don’t get them immediately. They also get addicted to things and need a constant dopamine fix on some never ending feedback loop.
Primes them for cheating especially if they’re porn addicted- lethal combo.
So many of them ARE watching porn on the sly too- it’s why a lot of game addicts are addicted to porn.
Low value men. Seen so many game and porn addicted losers cheat on pickmeisha wives.
If they have any childish hobbies over 25 I am turned off and not taking them seriously
Don’t care - go bother someone else.

Gaming is just stupid, useless and produces nothing for anyone except game makers and their investors.
It’s the new TV.
[–]modernmedusaaRuthless Strategist 25 points26 points27 points 4 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link
Thankyou I’m tired of seeing it be defended
It’s get filed in the same folder as watching soaps for me.
Unless they’re playing neuro fitness training games every once in a while
It is a LOW value activity and complete waste of time- be honest you’re distracting yourself if you do this .
Children play games to occupy themselves and improve their navigation / responses. Because they are still learning.
Adults should be reading books, having debates about politics, working on fitness, seeing friends and learning adult skills or gardening or some shit. Or starting a business. Or leading a group and sparking change.
Sick of seeing 35 yr old overgrown manchildren in Star Wars tshirts getting their stupid lazy childish slob hobbies validated.
Adult activities - not trying to desperately cling onto their childhood- otherwise you end up with the brain dead society we have at current. Who has no idea how they’re being manipulated half the time bc they’re too busy shooting fictional characters.
There’s a million and one better things to learn online- learn how to play an instrument or build an app or start a charity or write a book. Start looking after pets or plants. Or learn more about history or nutrition. Pass on wisdom to the younger ones & do something useful.
Not spending 17 hours in some magical fantasy land killing fictional characters. That’s how recluse incels are born. Quite literally

Do you hear anyone sayin 10 hours of TV per day is great—it’s my hobby!!! I’m a TVer (gamer), Don get in the way of my TV! No, because that’s disgusting, and playing excessive hours of video games is also disgusting.

It doesn’t always work out that way. I knew a LVM who built furniture. Of course it was only sometimes and usually to impress a woman he wanted to fuck. He also played a ton of video games

Pick mes get off playing the martyr and laughing at their useless scrote and how they have to do everything
They also believe they’re in control by constantly having to whip him in line to anything on a daily basis
They think they’re in charge when really they’re not because they constantly have to nag him to do basic shit which is draining
Meanwhile scrote is laughing at them and is fully aware he’s pretending to be a vegetable

I've been playing video games since I was 12 and if anyone made a chart like this for me I'd leave them. If you hate someone's past times ( videogames, scrolling on a phone, watching tv) you probably shouldn't be with them.
But as a woman who plays video games, I can tell you it is infested with the worst kind of scrotes imaginable. I have to pretend I'm a guy when I play multiplayer ( never use a mic, my gamer tag is obscure and doesn't reveal I'm a woman) because I don't need neckbeard mouth breathers tipping their digital fedoras at me 24/7. I just want to play in peace.
AND I agree that there's far too many men playing games and that's ALL they do and don't help around the house or have much of a life beyond that and it is very pathetic.
[–]p0ludnitsaFDS Newbie 10 points11 points12 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree. I don't think video games are bad when someone plays them as a hobby for fun. If there's no addiction and your partner isn't forsaking you for gaming all the time then I don't see much of an issue.
Boundaries are boundaries. There are certain things I won't tolerate a man doing, so I'm not going to entertain it. I'll avoid being a relationship with someone whose hobbies I dislike rather than trying to police their engagement in those hobbies after the fact.

Anyone else who has gone through the initial FDS glow up find posts like these almost triggering? I feel so bad for these women, angry at the LVM, that '~~~' (that's the only way I can describe it) feeling of remembering you've been there, the thankfulness of having grown from that, and then the semi irritation that women are out here accepting and bragging about this??
WOMEN HAVE BEEN SO DAMN WRONGED BY THE PATRIARCHY FFS🤬
[–]lhcm_FDS Newbie 76 points77 points78 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

[–]Amazing_Wolverine_37FDS Newbie 49 points50 points51 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Per the usual, gamers on the thread I saw it on mentioned that it was controlling and basically grounds for divorce. Fair. But please consider that motivation to go your own way towards a digital life and leave grown ladies who like to maintain tidy homes the heck out of it.
[–]ceramicunicornFDS Disciple 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is super weird, as if she derives pleasure from playing this mommy role to a grown man. As bizarre as it is, the best I can hope she’s genuinely happy in this dynamic that pulls one more LVM out of the pool because if she secretly isn’t, JFC this is one hell of a cope. Either way, it needs a disclaimer that says “Not intended to normalize babying grown men. No one should have to do this. We are not normal!”
[–]shedipityFDS Newbie 46 points47 points48 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
if your husband / partner only cooks dinner and shows you affection so that they can play their video games... they shouldn’t be your husband / partner. let’s not compete with a gaming console.

I’ve gamed off and on over the years and out of the hundreds of dudes I played with and got to know, only 3 stand out as being capable of moderation and prioritizing their family above the games.
I don’t know what it is but some hobbies tend to attract a certain type of person. Then the culture of that hobby shapes them further.
Haven’t dated a male gamer in over 5 years and honestly no regrets. Don’t do it ladies, it’s not worth it.
