Random side note from my stoned brain: retard actually used to be the accepted medical term for people suffering from mental illness (things that we now know as downs or autism). Prior to “retard” the mentally ill in our country were labeled based on their IQ score. I cant remember the ranges off the top of my head but you can look it up.... but based on where your IQ landed you could be labeled a “moron,” an “idiot,” an “imbecile.” It’s just interesting to me how over the course of like 50 years things change. First it was medically professional to call someone’s kid a moron. Then years later those same doctors would refer to those patients as retards. No one turned an eye to it or gave a fuck. But guess what.... moron suddenly is a not so nice word. Probably something you’d yell at your kid for if he called his brother one. Flash forward to now. We have so much research done and being done for those that suffer. We have learned that there are different conditions and that they can be grouped together. Thus this ability to identify exactly what someone is suffering from allows doctors to better handle it through medication, special classes, etc..... but guess what... that “medically professional” word our grandparents were taught (retard) is now another “bad” word. It’s just interesting to me to watch the pattern and I often wonder if someday the word autistic will be reacted to as a slur 🤔

Pride parades were originally (and still are) a way for LGBT people to band together and celebrate their identities despite living within societies that have historically rejected them. Nobody in any society at any point in history has ever said that it isn't okay to be straight. So being the status quo, there is absolutely nothing to celebrate, and the only people who give a shit about "celebrating" hetrosexuality are people who are intimidated by the LGBT community (ie, homophobes)

Gender dysmorphia =/= to being trans

People can have gender dysmorphia but not be trans because they don't become trans unless they make the active decision to transition. Interestingly, homosexuality was also once considered a mental illness by people like you. Gays were slaughtered and persecuted against until social norms finally began to shift. Unfortunately many gay people still face persecution in the modern world, but at least in many parts of the developed world, they are finally being accepted as equals.

The only reason that people with gender dysmorphia suffer is because of hateful people like you that get all too excited to tout about the high mortality rates that they experience. You talk them down and tell them that there's something wrong with them, and consequently become part of the very issue that plagues them. But if there was no social stigma against people who chose to transition, then there would be nothing to stop them from being comfortable with who they are and therefore no "mental illness" as you like to keep calling it. But instead you've decided for whatever reason that you should have some say in how they live their lives even though their lives have absolutely zero impact on your own.

Gays have been historically persecuted ranging from slurs, abuse, attacks and even lobotomy and never had suicide rates as bad as trans people

Obviously it’s bad and I disavow any and all harassment and attacks against anyone but calling a mental illness a mental illness is not an attack

You don’t go up to someone with schizophrenia and tell them that yes they’re right, god is talking to them, we instead get them the help they need.

Also the issue isn’t simply they’re suicidal because they haven’t had an operation to become another gender (which is often just butchering genitalia) since post op trans are just as likely to commit suicide, the issue is obviously they’re suffering a mental illness and cutting appendages doesn’t cure them

Well... None of those are "alt right" those are the views of someone who can critically think. If you disagree then you most likely beleive the opposite of them.

Most significant being that you would think it's not ok to be white, and that the vocal majority of feminists don't hate men (which are the only feminists to be doing anything with the movement anyways, making them the whole field, and they definitely do hate men).

I can understand not needing to say anything about straight pride, but quite frankly the majority of people are fine with gays now and there is definitely no need for gay pride parades anymore, which is why anybody even mentions anything about straight pride as gay pride is kind of an over-forced event now taking up a whole month (especially since we now seem to be moving into the extreme territory of some people even going as far as trying to force gayness of their children)

And yes, trans people do have a mental illness. Just because you can make someone that is mentally ill content does not change the fact they are not right in the head.

People are born with two genders. Male and female. You are naturally supposed to be attracted to the opposite gender, and if you aren't well then ok, but as soon as you want to start cutting your body apart and extensively modifying it internally for external change then you've got a problem. Any healthy average person does not want to cut themselves apart and change their gender. Just because some people have done so and lived a seemingly content life does not change the statistics of their insanely high suicide rates.

So, I looked into this and seemingly you are right... Until you do actual research. There was a study done in Sweden for thirty years that still showed post transition to be significantly at risk of suicide. There's no way I could believe that a suicide rate as high as 75% can drop to 3% or below, far lower than even the general population faces.

Current data showing that is possible is done with very small sample sizes over very short amounts of time, and also in incredibly biased ways, thus making the results easily controllable through number manipulation.

And I didn't even mention how the current trend is to transition kids! And the kids are younger and younger all the time, even younger than before hitting puberty. How many people do you know that their opinions were lasting for their entire life at the age of 5-15? These operations will also sterilize your child making it impossible for them to breed and also permanently altering their internal chemistry in a way that can prevent their body from properly forming. It is supremely fucked up to simply accept wanting to permanently alter your body at these ages. Yes there are people who show signs of stabilizing after transition but this is simply too young for anyone to make lifelong decisions without a proper understanding of who they even are.

Correlation doesn’t equal causation. Just because the suicide rates are high there and they are tolerant of LGBTQ people doesn’t mean that those things are related, which is why I was pointing out that the anecdote isn’t useful for understanding the topic at hand.

My prior point was that discrimination leads to stress which causes mental illness, and it seemed like your counter point was that mental illness is still high in a tolerant place like Amsterdam, thus discrimination isn’t the factor creating mental illness there. I agree with that point, it doesn’t seem like their suicide problem is created by a culture of discrimination against LGBTQ people, but that is also the reason why it is irrelevant to the topic being discussed—increased suicide and mental illness rates among the LGBTQ community specifically.

Discrimination isn’t the only factor in why people become mentally ill, but it does seem to be a common cause for minority groups that experience prejudice.

A lot of these are opinionated. Sure, his tweets can be very spicy, but pizzagate at the time at least had something to go off of. I don't see conspiracies against republican/right-wing politicians being blacklisted no matter how baseless they are, in fact they're around all the time. Once it's a democrat, all of a sudden it's a he-who-shall-not-be-named incident. I don't know how heterosexual pride is a bad thing in an age where people are constantly acting like it's wrong just to be straight, like it's inherently oppressive to some, as crazy as that sounds ironically. Trans people are literally mentally ill unless they're transtrenders which there's still something wrong with them regardless, and I would say it's unconditionally wrong to hate on them but there are so many extremists in that area that I don't really have anything to say in that matter.

All that being said - it doesn't surprise me regardless because a lot of these things he was for/against at the time are counter-culture so they're wrong. Thus, as a business, Mojang would need to sever ties with him. I still stand by my original comment.

Removing someone for opinionated views when they are the face of your company is perfectly acceptable, regardless of politics involved. This does not excuse the political views he expresses however.

Sexuality is something people should be free to embrace. But heterosexual pride as a counter-movement to the LGBTQ+ community is both belittling and downright ignorant. Straight people are not murdered, targeted, or oppressed for their sexuality. Acting like you have a target on your back because you’re straight is such a pathetic and childishly ignorant thing to do. Over 90% of the world’s population is heterosexual— why do you need to celebrate this? Are you proposing you celebrate the long, hard-fought, and brutal history of the struggle straight acceptance? The fight to make coming out as straight socially acceptable without being ostracized from society? What would you even be celebrating with straight pride? That you’ve lived a life free from discrimination and oppression for being in the majority? Do you even realize what you sound like? Straight people do not suffer or experience hate because of their sexuality. You are narrow minded and narrow sighted. Don’t pretend straight pride as embraced and as promoted by the alt-right is anything short of a hateful attempt at erasure and marginalization of minorities.

As to your comments on transsexuality, you show a very clear lack of understanding and an inability to see human beings who are different from yourself as people. Believe it or not, trans people are not defined by their sexuality or their gender, they have real lives because they are real people. Please grow up. Go outside. Let go of your prejudices and learn to love instead of hate. You don’t have to live a sheltered and ignorant life forever.

Reading Notch's "Controversies" section wikipedia is hilarious.

Persson has received criticism for political and social opinions he expressed on Twitter, such as referring to feminism as a "social disease" and claiming that most feminists are "overtly sexist against men."[41][42] In June 2017, Persson faced criticism for referring to video game developer Zoë Quinn as a "cunt".[41] Later in June 2017, he tweeted in support of a heterosexual pride day, calling opponents to the idea "cunt"s and suggesting that they "deserve to be shot".[42] After facing community backlash, he deleted the tweets and walked back his statements, writing in one tweet, "So yeah, it's about pride of daring to express, not about pride of being who you are. An update to Minecraft released in March 2019 silently removed references to Persson from the game's menu, though his name is still in the game credits.[47] Ahead of Minecraft's tenth anniversary event, Microsoft said that Persson will not be part of the event due to the views that he had expressed on social media, which do not reflect those of either Microsoft or Mojang.[48]

Notch doesn't, he's a bad person. To be honest, creating Minecraft is a pretty shallow accomplishment despite being financially rewarding. Personally I feel what I've done in my community and for other people is more valuable than Notch's balance of contributions (proportionally speaking) considering what an utter shit he proved himself to be.

You have no place to lecture anyone on this subject as someone who's participating in it themselves, and is shitting on someone who is likely of equal societal status instead of punching upwards, financially speaking, at someone like Notch, who has the luxury of doing more or less anything and still chooses to get into petty arguments with random users of twitter. I’ve honestly never seen “cunt” being used as an oppressive term, though. It’s an insult, sure, but not nearly as oppressive and shitty as “slut” or “whore”, so don’t even act like it does.

The fact that you put so much power into a word that’s almost never been used against women specifically in this day and age is kind of pathetic. If I call a man or woman a cunt, it should have the same effect and does. Cunt is a nasty way of saying “pussy”, and yet “pussy” isn’t seen as bad because it’s usually used against men.

“Cunt” is used for women AND men, “pussy” is usually used against men specifically, yet no one mentions it. Seems like a bullshit agenda to get offended by words that are all inclusive, and act like it’s exclusive. Outta here won’t that bullshit, please.
