My mom gave me similar advice, which I didn’t take. It took me years to realize she meant to go out, get to know people, and stop hyper focusing on marriage because I would make better decisions if I saw men as people instead of a means to an end 🤦🏻‍♀️

“Date casually” means to not tie yourself down: date multiple people until you find one that you want to spend more time, then focus. Don’t pick one, focus on it, and trap yourself for weeks or months until you realize he ain’t it. Definitely get to know your options.

But don’t have casual sex. Definitely no to that. The risks are higher for us women. And most men will be a waste of time because they don’t know what they’re doing. Sticking it in and moving does not constitute knowing what they’re doing!

ugh I've had this conversation on reddit and hate words. I'm looking for a LT parter, but enjoy causal dating... casual dating for me meaning activity-ing or getting to know someone who is still required to put in effort, and NEVER casual sex. And we still have to have something in common.

Pre-covid, I lived abroad and would travel for longer terms and it was nice to spend time with good men for a few meets or even just one.

But no, I'm not giving gf or wife energy to shit men or men I'm not in a relationship or married to.

The fact that he recognizes that this can mean casual sex is the problem with the word 'casual'.

All LT relationships start with my version of casual dating. But too many women forget the part about effort on the man's part and no sex.

The saddest part is that so many women have been brainwashed to perpetuate this mentality.

One good example of this would be a group of girlfriends encouraging their newly-single friend to fuck other men.

They do not understand that a woman is at her most vulnerable after a breakup; she needs to be kept away from men (and toxic women), not be made a lamb for the slaughter. Hopefully, more of us will continue to wise up and choose peace over men’s willful negligence/abuse.

I think that having a roaster of suitors we go on dates with and not being too serious about men we just hade a few dates with is a good advice, BUT this doesn't mean going on dates with men we know already we're not into or that don't match our standards for a serious relationship or marriage if that's what we want. It also doesn't mean casual sex or giving chances to scrotes. Even if we date several men at the same time and are exploring our options, we should still vet all of these men ruthless and don't engage in casual sex of situationships. But yes, they know.

Ugh.. unfortunately accumulated some trauma with this mentality but at least in my early 20’s I realized something was rotten in Denmark. And stopped fairly early on. People openly encourage this crap and it’s stupid.

That word feminist has been so morphed - almost like the word woman, that I wonder if either of them even have any meaning anymore. A feminist apparently - is whatever you want it to be, as long as it aligns with your own world view. Same with woman, lol. We are going to hell in a handbasket when words don't even have meanings anymore.

Edited to add : dating (done safely) is the only way to find someone. So if you desire to have a partnership, you are going to have to go through this process. I think the difference between her focus is just doing it ''for fun'' and FDS says do it with intention. There is nothing wrong with knowing what you want and most women who have run the gauntlet of dating know it is exhausting and gets old real fast, so it makes no sense to have no sense of purpose or framework around it. There are far better ways to waste your time then on casual dates with horrible men. Intention is key.

Feminist nowadays is code word for "doing everything a man ever wanted us to do, and more!"
